We are trying to implement a client side data provider as a component (ZEN) that will use JQuery to do rest calls to a desired URL, in this case, a %CSP.Rest service implemented by ourselves.

This component will be used within our application that is authenticated with a correct user configured on Caché management portal and therefore using one license unit. As we are using a Ajax call from client side this connection creates a new session that will use a new license.

Is anyone aware of how to find out if a UNICODE database has been installed on an 8-bit version of IRIS i.e. is there a way of checking and actual database rather than the IRIS instance version?

Is Cache the preferred database source for extracting data elements for use in Health Share Patient Index or is there a significant benefit in sourcing data from a warehouse, data mart, or MV? I realize that could be a loaded question with 100 other questions that may follow, however, if there is a known advantage to extracting data from a particular data storage type, the answer may highlight that point.

Do you have any experience / recommendations / best practice on how to update server-side data residing in a Cache database via a REST service?

A naïve approach would be to send a full JSON representation of the data object via an http POST to a method on a REST handler class:

The problem I see here is, if only one of the data object's properties has changed, how do we know which? Or do we simply overwrite all properties?

I was playing around with the python binding for caché (2018.1.4) and I ran into some problems.

When executing the class query "List" from SYS.Database the pythonbind interface throws an exception, that seems to be caused by a mismatch of the defined SQL datatypes for this query and what is actually returned (or the lack of type conversion in the pythonbind interface).

Is this a known issue ? Are there solutions/workarounds for this,
Or is this a bug ?
