Frontend development can be a daunting, even nightmarish, task for backend-focused developers. Early in my career, the lines between frontend and backend were blurred, and everyone was expected to handle both. CSS, in particular, was a constant struggle; it felt like an impossible mission.
Among the numerous authors of the InterSystems Developer Community, some members stand out for their dedication and lasting impact. One such member is @Mihoko Iijima, whose journey with InterSystems spans over two decades. From her early experiences with Caché to her deep involvement in the Developer Community, she has continuously contributed to knowledge-sharing and collaboration, shaping the experience for fellow developers.
🤩 Let's take a closer look at Mihoko's journey with InterSystems technology and our Developer Community...

A REST API (Representational State Transfer) is an interface that allows different applications to communicate with each other through the HTTP protocol, using standard operations such as GET, POST, PUT, and DELETE. REST APIs are widely used in software development to expose services accessible by other applications, enabling integration between different systems.
In the previous article. Practices of class members and their execution within embedded Python. We will now turn our attention to the process of switching namespaces, accessing global variables , traversing and routine executions within embedded Python.
ISCLOGs are a useful debugging tool provided with IRIS that can help you troubleshoot many different issues. For more information about creating these logs, please see the following IRIS documentation: "Logging".
The best way to list, edit, save and delete globals is using an IDE. Now, it is possible if you use VSCode. It is also possible to save globals using yaml files. Perform the following steps:
1. Get an InterSystems IRIS instance and install the application iris-global-yaml:
zpm:USER>install iris-global-yaml
2. If you just to want an InterSystems IRIS trial for tests git clone and run on docker:

Today, we take a moment to shine the spotlight on one of the true pillars of the InterSystems Developer Community, @Alberto Fuentes. His commitment, expertise, and enthusiasm have left an indelible mark on the Developer Community, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Alberto has been a part of the InterSystems ecosystem for over 15 years, starting his journey with InterSystems technology back in 2008. Since then, he has worn many hats, from integrating Ensemble at his previous job to officially joining InterSystems in 2011 and now holding the position of Sales Engineer. Over the years, he’s witnessed—and contributed to—some of the most significant milestones in the company’s history.
It's been a while since I've posted about Embedded Git on the Developer Community, and I'd like to provide an update on the massive amount of work we've done this year and where we're going next.
Context
If you're building solutions on IRIS and want to use Git, that's great! Just use VSCode with a local git repo and push your changes out to the server - it's that easy.
There are many applications for working with HL7 V2 messages, but the tools for working with XML in IRIS Management Portal and Cache Studio are limited.
One good thing about COVID-19 is that it taught people that online work and study are possible. I remember a week before the lockdown started, everyone said that working online was impossible, not secure, etc. And what do you know, it all became possible and "secure" in the blink of an eye. As with everything, it depends on whether a person is capable of organizing his or her day and their work or study attitude. Thus, I became a great believer in online education. As an associate professor who teaches databases, I find it beneficial to my schedule and students. One thing that studying online brings is flexibility. Another one is accepting third-party courses to grant credits to my students 😉
Considering that I'm teaching the basics of IRIS, I thought a new course, Getting Started with InterSystems IRIS for Coders, could be a relevant addition to my course. Therefore, I decided to follow the new Learning Path and see how it corresponds to my Syllabus and how many ECTS credits I can give for finishing it.
Here’s a special thread where you can tell a bit about yourself — because connecting and learning more about each other is what makes this community great 💬✨
We had a similar discussion on our old Global Masters platform — you might remember! We’re excited to bring that networking opportunity back to the community.
I'm posting this for the benefit of WebTerminal users who have upgraded to the recently-released IRIS 2024.2 -- (Build 247U) Tue Jul 16 2024 09:52:30 EDT -- or are considering doing so.
That version of 2024.2 contains a change (DP-432503) which requires that the user under which the Web Gateway initially connects to IRIS (usually CSPSystem) must have READ permission on the database hosting the dispatch class of the REST web application.
Good morning. Can someone provide some advice? We know it is no longer supported or in development but it worked for the testing we were doing. We have several new people who need a copy. Does someone have a link to Iris Studio downloads?
If it's not available here are there other ways to test mumps code? Links? thank you!
InterSystems has been at the forefront of database technology since its inception, pioneering innovations that consistently outperform competitors like Oracle, IBM, and Microsoft.
Today, we'd like to spotlight one of the standout members of the InterSystems Developer Community: @Benjamin De Boe. Since the inception of the InterSystems Developer Community, he has shared his expertise, contributing thoughtful articles, practical demos, and answers to questions. Having worked with InterSystems products since 2010, Benjamin brought invaluable knowledge to the Developer Community. From navigating iKnow projects to simplifying complex deployments with Docker and Python, he has continually inspired fellow developers through his work and presence on the Community.

I was working on a DTL but kept getting ERROR #5002... MAXSTRING errors. The problem was that most of the DTL GUI action steps only support the string data type when working with the segments. A %String has a limit of 3,641,144 characters and my OBX5.1 was 5,242,952 characters long as the example provided. Of course PACS admin stated ultra high quality up to and including 4K resolution files were needed, so we could not get the vendor to compress or reformat these files to compressed jpg or something similar.
