In 2017, Forbes published an article talking about API Economy (see: https://www.forbes.com/sites/louiscolumbus/2017/01/29/2017-is-quickly-becoming-the-year-of-the-api-economy/). This article was the trigger to popularize the use of API and API Management by large companies. The article published a maturity model. My understanding is that Intersystems IRIS allows you to reach the top of the pyramid with your current technologies. See the figure above.
For this it is important to combine % CSP.REST package, IRIS API Manager (IAM), ML Pack and IntegratedML, Native API for Python, BPL and

Globals as a Graph Data Structure in Python

How to use the IRIS Native API + Python to see globals as a Graph Network Chart.

Iris Globals

Reading the documentation these topics are related to globals:

  • A global consists of a set of nodes (in some cases, only one node), identified by subscripts.
  • Each node can contain a value.
  • ObjectScript includes functions to iterate through the nodes of a global and quickly access values.
  • A global is automatically stored in the database. When you assign a value to a node of a global variable, the data is written immediately to the database. - You can see the

Hi everyone! If it doesn't bother you, could you help me teach my bots to talk?

Open my chatbot here: Help my chatbots to talk!

What? Aren't your chatbots smarts?

Smart isn't the best term for this scenario. They are trained but with little data! Most of chatbot solutions uses Machine Learning to create a way to talk with people and Machine Learning needs one important thing to performs well: DATA

How does it work?

A simple way to explain: imagine someone who has a brain but dont have any experience in his life he just born.

Creating a Chatbot with IRIS and Python

In this article I'm going to show how to integrate the InterSystems IRIS Database with Python to serve a Machine Learning Model of Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Why Python?

With a large adoption and use in the world, Python have a great community and a lot of accelerators | libraries to deploy any kind of application. If you are curious (https://www.python.org/about/apps/).

Iris Globals

As I start to learn about ^globals they became familiar to use as a fast way to ingest data in a out-of-box data model.

Question Renato Banzai · May 26, 2020

Hi everyone! I was using the InterSystems Native API for Python and following the documentation I tried to use this method (https://irisdocs.intersystems.com/irislatest/csp/docbook/Python-Native/irisnative.iris.html#irisnative.iris.getAPIVersion after a while I realize that this method doesn't exist. Looking at the object I can see the method: irisnative.iris.getClientVersion which doesn't exist in documentation (and probably does the same thing)

I'm using the irisnative-1.0.0-cp34-abi3-macosx_10_13_x86_64.macosx_10_14_x86_64.whl

How can we fix the documentation (or the class method name)?

Hi Developers,

Please welcome the new video specially recorded by InterSystems Product Manager @Bob Kuszewski for the 3rd InterSystems Online Programming Contest on InterSystems IRIS Native API:

⏯ Using the IRIS Native API GitHub Template

What’s the contest about?

In the last year, InterSystems added and expanded Native APIs for Java, .NET, Python, and Node.js. The Native API provides high speed access to globals, the ability to instantiate and use ObjectScript objects, and fine-grained control over transactions.

I have a simple python script to pull table information from cache 2018.1.2 which is on a windows 10 machine. I get no results though the same query in the management portal works correctly:

import os
import sys
import intersys.pythonbind3 as ipyb
import numpy as np

# Connect to the Cache' database
url = "localhost[1972]:%SYS"
user = "xxxx"
password = "zzzzz"

accessKey = (url, user, password)

def main(accessKey):

    tbList        = []

    # Get the connection and database handles
    conn = ipyb.connection()
    conn.connect_now(accessKey[0],accessKey[1],accessKey[2], None)

I'm looking into finding ways to  fetch data from cache efficiently and work with it with python - specially pandas.

i tried the following but i'm wondering if this is the most efficient way?

to run the stored procedure as %ResultSet inside cache in a classmethod and serialize the data to JSON

and then call that class method from python

Class User.RegObj Extends %RegisteredObject{ClassMethod runAlpha() As %Library.DynamicAbstractObject{set QHi=##class(%DynamicAbstractObject).%FromJSON("{}")set rs=##class(%ResultSet).%New("User.Person:alpha")set pr=rs.Execute("","")set idx=0while rs.

Happy new year! I’m Raj Singh, InterSystems’ product manager for Developer Experience and  I’d love your feedback on how you use IDEs today and your thoughts for the future.

We understand you depend on a solid, intuitive and flexible IDE from InterSystems - whether you are an ObjectScript expert or new to it; whether ObjectScript is at the core of your applications, or you develop more in Java, Python, C# or Node.js.

I'm happy to announce the latest Python Gateway release.

This is not an InterSystems product, it is community supported open source project.

Download new release from GitHub.

Now for the new features.

Fast transfer. Pass globals, classes and tables from InterSystems IRIS to Python with ease and speed (10x faster than old QueryExecute). Documentation.

Proxy Gateway allows generation of ObjectScript classes for Python classes. Instantinate objects, call object and class methods using familiar ObjectScript code (docs).

set module = "random"
set sc = ##class(isc.py.gw.Generator).Generate(module)

Hello all,

We recently moved our workstations to Windows 10 and so we updated all our local installations to IRIS (servers already run IRIS 2019.1). Now we are trying to connect our pyCharm to IRIS but we can't succeed.

In our ancient Ensemble installation we used intersys.pythinbind3 system, but I realized that with IRIS this is not provided. So I finally found the Welcome to Python QuickStart page (https://learning.intersystems.com/course/view.php?id=1113&ssoPass=1) and I'm trying to connect using pyODBC.
