Hello there community,

I am pleased to say that i have started building a product and I have chosen InterSystems technology to be used in it.

But I have a confusion with regard to it.

I actually have to come to a conclusion to whether to use CACHE or IRIS.

I will be using a lot of data and also integrating it along with Python for DEEP and Machine Learning.

Also I do not have an idea of how to get the licensed version of either of that.

In response to a community question asking to view Request and Response message types in Production settings..

A community helper class was implemented should people need this. ( alwo.EnsHelper.HostRequestResponseInfo )

Install

zpm install alwo-enshelper

The code may serve as an example, to project bespoke configuration into Production settings.

Who has never been through in the following situation:

I have an application/global configuration that is not and cannot be mapped to a class, but it is necessary to provide a stored procedure so that a report tool using ODBC/JDBC or even using the resultset of IRIS itself, can access the data and generate the report.

In IRIS we have a functionality that allows us to create a query that can be accessed internally and also be exposed as a stored procedure, with our own logic. That functionality is Custom Class Query.

embedded sql select locks

i noticed -by reading .INT files of one class- that some of embedded sql select statements code blocks translates into code that uses lock command.

even if i use %nolock in the select, still cursors and arrow referencing notations "->" have the same results.

Hi everyone!

If you are working with IRIS 2021+ and you remove all of the built in entries for External Language Servers, there is an unexpected consequence that may prevent you from running an installer to upgrade your version of IRIS. This does appear to be a bug which has been raised with WRC, however there are some people that may have recently removed these settings and then will soon be upgrading their environment and could face this same issue.

I just realized that operating system command execution does not work on Windows console if the IRIS service is started using a different user than Local System account (the default).

I always change the user configured in the IRIS service and I believe this is a standard good practice, particularly in "real" environments (be it production, stage, test or development) that are part of Windows Active Directory Domain.
