Since we have a way to see 'Unanswered' questions now, there are a couple of things that jumped out at me.  Not sure if I am missing how to do these or if they need to be added to the future enhancements list:

1) It looks like a lot of people 'Comment' on a Question rather than providing an Answer.  This means that there are many questions listed as unanswered where the answer actually lies in a Comment (but noone has submitted a formal Answer).  Is there some way to tag a Comment as the Answer?

2) In many online forums a question isn't marked as Answered until the author of the question marks

Developer Community was refreshed on May 30th with the following new features and fixes:

1. Formatting of postings in My Collaborations and My Content has been improved

2. Browse by Tag now has filtering options for New, Highest Rated and Unanswered posts

3. Full paging is back on the home page

4. Browse by Tag now includes child tags. Example - posts tagged only with "MDX", which is a child tag of "DeepSee", will appear when using Browse by Tag and viewing DeepSee content

5.Browse by Member is now available.

Ability to view content by particular member is a great feature.

I'd like to propose some enhancements to this:

  • Member content should be accessible from member page. For example, under separate tab.
  • There should be possibility to follow member. For example, I want to be notified every time Evgeny Shvarov posts something.
  • On member content page we should be able to filter by comments/posts/all content.

UPD: I found separate topic for first item of my list: https://community.intersystems.com/post/show-users-posts-user-page

Question Mark Hanson · Apr 8, 2016

When I goto the main developer community page:

https://community.intersystems.com/

When I turn on network monitoring this root page takes over 6s to load, this is with the other pieces of the page already cached on a nice fast network connection, the by the time the other requests are made it is at around 6.7s! A few other attempts were slightly better at around 5s. By comparison if I look at stackoverflow.com I see the browser completely done in <1s, the content itself takes just 433ms.

How can be get this >6s down to something a little more reasonable like <1s, even 1s is pretty slow these

Hello developer community developers!

Thanks for all of features you create.

I encourage the one simple issue again and again when posting articles. Would be happy if it get fixed.

When publishing an article draft, the date of the post should be the date of publishing, but not the date when the draft was created.

When the post is created and saved as a draft it usually takes some time to actually finish the post and publish it.In my case, it took 3 days.

Question Jon Jensen · Apr 27, 2016

Looking at the navigation, should we consider moving the Logout function under the My Account button?  It is kind of oldschool to see the logout functionality as  a stand alone menu item.

Maybe the My Account button should have "Account Settings" and "Logout" as the drop menu items?

Thoughts?

I would really like to see (an option for) a more compact index of posts.  The current index layout makes me feel like a) there's not much content on the site and b) I have to look harder to get an idea of what's going on.  I feel like I'm forced to read each post instead of just glancing over a "list" of posts.

If I'd had time I would have made a couple mockups, but basically see any forum or email inbox for an example of what I think you should work towards (at least somewhere in between). The way it is it reminds me more of my Facebook feed.

Question Jon Jensen · Apr 27, 2016

I looked at the tag cloud (It looks more like a solid block since it is fully justified and sorted by size.)

https://community.intersystems.com/tagclouds/chunk/1

It is currently sorted by size (large -> small).  It feels not like a traditional tag cloud.  It feels harder to find what I want than a traditionally styled tag cloud.

I think it should be sorted alphabetically?  and center justified?

Most tag clouds I see are sorted alphabetically allowing the font sizes to intermingle and create clarity of terms.(In our cloud, there is no visual indicator between tags, they all seem to run together)

Question Mike Kadow · Apr 26, 2016

I just recently got a mail regarding the latest and greatest.

I find the mail impossible to read or make any sense of.

At the bottom it says to manage my subscription.

I clicked on the link and it took me to a page that says I am denied.

All the time I am still logged in.

Then, can you tell me how do I manage my subscriptions and stop those impossible emails?

I sure wish we were back to the Google Group, I understood that.

In the subscriptions e-mails I get (digested), the URLs are typically wrapped across lines, like:

| Post link:

|

|01610 Direct unsubscribe link (content type):

My mail client can't handle this, of course; the link doesn't work. (The actual link in this case is: https://community.intersystems.com/post/explanation-defaultdb-database-… )

In this release we added new functionality that marks postings with either a "new" icon or an "unread" icon depending on when you came to the site last and the age of the postings.

Here are the rules as currently implemented:

- If a user hasn't viewed content which was posted less than 2 weeks ago, then the label "new" is displayed.

- If the user hasn't viewed content which was posted more than 2 weeks ago then the label "unread" is display.

Question Dmitry Umansky · Apr 8, 2016

Edit:  I got notification on comment to my comment, but not for "Answer" for original question.

I'm getting email notification with header "Your subscriptions on InterSystems Developer Community notify you of | the following changes since the previous digest:" if I post comment, however I did not get it if someone else responds to it.

Hey, those who created and are maintaining the Community software.

There is a lot of very good post coming in.

However, how do I either send them off to my Email or a File to save them.

I do no wish to lose some of these posts in the volume of what is coming in!

Help me Mr. Wizard!

I am sure someone knows how.

It looks like andreas posting is in triplicate - I am sure the bureaucrats are very happy - on the homepage

Not sure why...?  Is there really 3 unique posts IDs that are the same or is there a bug in the hoempage display logic that is repeating the items listed?

triple post

Question Eduard Lebedyuk · Mar 20, 2016

Here's the screenshot of the sidebar widget "Related conversations":

The question turn-key export of data for XML-enabled class currently has 2 answers, 0 comments for the post and 1 comment for an answer. I think it would be more informative to display one of these metrics in the widget:

  • Number of answers and comments for post and comments for answers
  • Number of answers and comments for post
  • Number of answers

Instead of the current value of number of comments for post.

Here's something I find a bit awkward. Suppose I'm reading the posts in a group, e.g from https://community.intersystems.com/group/developer-community-feedback

I see an interesting post, so I click into it.

I add a comment to the post.

Now I want to go back to the list of posts in the group, i.e. to https://community.intersystems.com/group/developer-community-feedback but I don't see a link that takes me there. I have to resort to several clicks on the browser back button.

Perhaps it'd help if somewhere on a post's header you gave us the name of the group owning the post.
