How can I get the Python error object(exception return value) from the embedded python method?
I have an embedded Python method like as below;

ClassMethod test2() As XXX [ Language = python ]
{
   try:
    a=1/0
   
   except Exception as ex:
    print("Exception: %s" % str(ex))
    return ex
}

I'm not sure what kind of return type to set for this classmethod.   "As XXX" <--
I tried to set "ClassMethod test2() As %Exception.PythonException [ Language = python ]"
However, I got the following return value when I run the method in the IRIS terminal.

USER>set st= ##class(User.PythonTest).

When looking at the "Current License Usage Summary" web page, there is a line for both local and distributed "Maximum Connections". I have scrutinized every class that seems reasonable to contain this information but have found nothing that matches the values on the web page. I do not believe these are related to license specifically though I did review all of the potential attributes of the license related classes to no avail.

When we terminate a process that is in a transaction, the system (fortunately) performs a rollback.

As part of some troubleshooting, I'm wondering if there's a way around this behavior to avoid rollback (or force commit) before termination.

Recently we had an issue on a test server with a process stuck in a huge transaction (around 100GB).

The out-of-control process was suspended and then terminated causing a rollback.

In the case of a test server, this is not really a problem.

While I love using VSCode for IRIS development work, one of the persistent frustrations with it has been the inability to display an object hierarch in the variables window while debugging. Only the object's reference identifier is displayed. Cache Studio's handling of the same issue is a little clunky, but it does at least have the option to display something as an object.

For now, I make do with a combination of the watch window and the command line in the debugging console -- but this feels just a step away from log.debug()/console.log() level debugging sometimes.

I'm trying to get my VS Code instance that is connected to an AWS IRIS instance to edit/save/compile .csp files, but it's failing to work and I'm not sure why. The ".csp" is associated with the objectscript-csp code, and the server is connected, but things just don't act like they are enabled.

Should this work? and if so, what might I have missed in configuring things?

I'm using the below code to export to excel and it's working fine for one client but not for another and both clients are running the same version of IE 11.

for the second client the code generates an empty xlsx file and when I try to open it it says file corupted although data exits in the resultset, so is there a flag or setting needs be done in the client server or IE?

Working with CSP applications, I've noticed behaviour that does not seem to be documented anywhere.

When you create a new application, Cache seems to create a virtual folder and populate it with everything that is in the physical path you set for that application.
This leads to some weird issues regarding compilation of the CSP pages that exist in both physical folder and virtual folder.

We have a requirement to write to an AWS S3 bucket from Cache.

We haven't upgrade to IRIS yet, but are looking at doing so in the future. This requirement cannot wait for the upgrade to happen, unfortunately.

Will appreciate if any one can share any example code, that enables cache to write to an AWS S3 bucket? 

I am writing a Python tools I want to access the %Monitor.System.License properties:

3. MaxUsedDist

5. CurrentUsedDist

Initially I want to develop Objectscript to verify access to the properties. But I can not figure the proper syntax.

I first attempted:

which failed.

I tried another approach:

set ans = ##CLASS(%Monitor.System.License).%GetParameter("AvailableLocal")

which also failed. There is open method so it appears access options are limited.

I'm a bit confused where if I run a query trough SMP I don't get any result which should be true but if I run the same query from a classmethod I get a query result which shouldn’t be even if I pass any gibberish parameter into my class method because I'm sure there should be any data? see attached

Is there a way for users that do not have access to HeathShare have the ability to update a specific lookup table?  Looking for maybe a webpage, API, interface option.  Any examples or just pointed in the right direction would be great.

I'm using  seconds counter then save those seconds in a field defined as string where eg. I do :

S time=30  

S time = $zt(time,1)  

Update myclass se timeSpent = :time

which now shows up as 00:00:30 if I do an sql query which good but the problem if I run a query to get average timeSpent I get 00:00.

having the field defined as integer would allow selecting avg but running a query in my Zen page wouldn’t show me a time format

so how can I get an average on my a filed defined as string in a sql query?
