Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) is an application programming interface (API) for the programming language Java, which defines how a client may access a database.
Currently could be downloaded from here.

Not sure there are many that connect to MS SQL to execute queries, stored procedures, etc, but our Healthsystem has many different MS SQL based databases we use within the Interoperability environment for various reasons.
With the push to moving from on-prem to the Cloud we ran into some difficulties with our SQL Gateway connections and knowing how to config them to use Microsoft Entra for Active Directory Authentication.
There are many articles out on the web, but there was not one that could give us the full answer to what we needed to do, and Microsoft wasn’t much help.
I defined the variables in Cache, as follows:
Property Content As% Stream.GlobalCharacter [Required, SqlColumnNumber = 3, SqlFieldName = B_Content];
And then use the SQL statement to add:
insert into table_name (B_Content) values ('very long string');But the error:
org.springframework.http.converter.HttpMessageNotWritableException: Could not write content: No serializer found for class com.intersys.jdbc.CacheInputStream and no properties discovered to create BeanSerializer (to avoid exception, disable SerializationFeature.FAIL_ON_EMPTY_BEANS) (through reference chain: com .sxxxx.jdbc.datastore.
Hello Global masters!
I developed Web with Spring framework (JAVA, Jdbc Cache) and I wrote SQL when I made it.
And Window program with VB6, Cache Object and VisM.
Is there a significant performance gap? SQL and Cache Object?
same function, same computer performance just different Java and VB6.
Thank you.

Hi everyone,
i have a problem with the "ExecuteUpdateParmArray()" methode from the "EnsLib.SQL.OutboundAdapter" adaptater when i try to update a sql server 2008 table with JDBC connection.
..Adapter.ExecuteUpdateParmArray(.nRows,sqlUpdate,.param)
return to me the following error:
- "ERROR #5023: Remote Gateway Error: JDBC Gateway execUpdate(0) error -1: no value specified for parameter 1."
the sqlUpdate is like "update table SET column1 = ?,column2 = ?,column3 = ? where id = 1"
i built my param like this :
s param(1) = 'x' s param(2) = 'y' s param(3) = 'z' s param = 3
i have no proleme for
Hi
I created a jdbc connection in the Caché 2010.2.3 with SQLServer 2008R2.
The connection to this DB works correctly. (Conection Sucess)
I try to perform table binding but this connection, even though it is successful, does not load my tables and schemas.
I did the same test on Caché 2015 , with same jar drivers files and works perfectly!
Any idea?
Caché 2010.2.3

java version "1.7.0_09"
Caché 2015

It would be convenient to be able to fetch the whole query result in one operation instead of looping through every row. A fetch_all() method or something similar would provide this functionality I guess. Is there a reason why this is not implemented?
Many times it is necessary copy or send files to your docker container instance.
In my case was with IRIS JDBC driver.
Docker has this recipe for this (credits to https://docs.docker.com/engine/reference/commandline/cp/):
docker cp [OPTIONS] CONTAINER:SRC_PATH DEST_PATH|- docker cp [OPTIONS] SRC_PATH|- CONTAINER:DEST_PATH
But to copy you need your container name. Write this command for this:
docker ps
In my, my-iris is the container name.
If you need to know file location into your docker file system too, write:
1. To go to bash of your docker instance: docker exec -it my-iris /bin/bash.
2. Write cd .
Without installing Kerberos has anyone Authenticated a SQL JDBC connection? Currently we are using local SQL Accounts to sign onto External SQL Databases, but we are being told that we need to switch to Service accounts that live on a Active Directory Domain.
I wrote with a little help a ZAUTHENICATE to do the Authentication for Ensemble, can I use something like that to connect to an External SQL Database using a Service Account on a Active Directory Domain?
Thanks
Scott
I am trying to set up a sensor in PRTG to connect to Cache, specifically the ens_util.log, so that I can have a live feed of my error count. I am having trouble getting the sensor to log in to Cache. Has anyone had any luck getting PRTG to connect on the database level? Thanks!
I've asked a lot of questions leading up to this, so I wanted to share some of my progress.
The blue line represents the number of messages processed. The background color represents the average response time. You can see ticks for each hour (and bigger ticks for each day). Hovering over any point in the graph will show you the numbers for that period in time.
This is super useful for "at a glance" performance monitoring as well as establishing patterns in our utilization.

Here is the query used:
SELECT
mh.name AS MessageType,
COUNT(mh.I am accessing IRIS databases with JDBC (or ODBC) using Python. I want to fetch the data into a pandas dataframe to manipulate the data and create charts from it. I ran into a problem with string handling while using JDBC. This post is to help if anyone else has the same issues. Or, if there is an easier way to solve this, let me know in the comments!
I am using OSX, so I am unsure how unique my problem is. I am using Jupyter Notebooks, although the code would generally be the same if you used any other Python program or framework.
Hi all.
I have some problem with getting data from external source (PostgreSQL) via JDBC and load it in DeepSee and I resolved some problems while writing this question :)
So..Below I proved my steps of working:
S Connection=##class(%Library.SQLGatewayConnection).%New()
S sc=Connection.Connect("jdbcurl","user","pass",0)
If $$$ISERR(sc) do $System.Status.DisplayError(sc) quit
S sc=Connection.AllocateStatement(.Statment)
S query="SELECT * FROM students"
S sc=Connection.Prepare(Statment,query)
S sc=ConnectionAny news about JDBC driver and Hibernate dialect on a public java repository, like mvnrepository? Today I need to download the jdbc driver and hibernate jar, add as an external resource on my maven config file to works.
Dear community members!
A very common problem of our users is to use an external database as data source in an IRIS production. As many of you already know, we have two ways to connect directly to an external database, the first one is using an ODBC connection, the second is using JDBC.
In our example we are going to create a connection using JDBC, and we are going to build a simple Docker's project, in this way you will be able to modify the example as you wish.
The code is available from this URL: https://github.com/intersystems-ib/workshop-sql-jgw
In our docker-compose.
I want to INSERT a record in a database using JDBC in OBJECTSCRIPT. At the same time, I want to obtain the insert ID. Is there a way to achieve this using the SQL Outbound adapter?
My code is something like this now:
Property Adapter As EnsLib.SQL.OutboundAdapter;
set sql = " INSERT INTO Prenotazioni_CUP "_
" (ID, cf
" VALUES (SEQTAB.NextVal, ?) "
set status = ..Adapter.ExecuteUpdate(.rs, sql, pRequest.cfAssistito)
Hello everyone!
I am writing a SQL CALL (using JDBC) to a stored procedure that outputs a structured object (Oracle Object).
Hi All,
We are using BI tool for reporting which required to connect TrakCare system using JDBC Connection
Can some can assist with Jar file which is required for the connection or anyone did befoe?
Thanks,

This demo has an interoperability production with 16 items.
The first part of this demonstration consists of sending an HL7 SIU file which will be transmitted to the 2 other HL7 flows (HTTP and TCP), and transformed and transmitted to the Kafka server. HTTP and TCP flows will transform HL7 messages in the same way before sending them to Kafka as well.
What comes to the data platform (not the user facing application) most of the the events of interest/required are available as predefined system audit events in audit log - out of the box. They just need to be enabled.
Hey Developers!
This week is a voting week for the InterSystems Full Stack Contest!
So, it's time to give your vote to the best solutions built with InterSystems IRIS.
🔥 You decide: VOTING IS HERE 🔥
How to vote? This is easy: you will have one vote, and your vote goes either in Experts Nomination or in Community Nomination.
Recently I started moving some of our JDBC Gateway configurations over to using the Microsoft JDBC Gateway driver instead of using the jTDS open source driver. I have noticed since then that those Objects that are using Microsoft JDBC Driver are throwing a lot more errors than the jTDS driver ever did, which I can understand however I am puzzled that I keep running into an issue with the Java Gateway Service within the Interoperability engine.
Every so often I will start seeing "Gateway Server failure timeout on 127.0.0.1:55550" followed by "Gateway Server did not respond to PING request.
Hi, I hope this post helps.
The bottom line: MAXLEN is relevant mostly for odbc/jdbc connections and you need to specify an appropriate value within your tables (classes), otherwise the data might be truncated when you query it, or even fail when you try to insert data.
From time to time we develop an Ensemble Production with simple SQL Inbound data from external databases, we need to develop a few new classes. There are at least:
Let's say, if these codes can be generated automatically in order to make the entire development more "low

Hi ,
When I use jdbc driver to query the column info ,the "REMARKS" field always show the same as the "COLUMN_NAME" field.
When I use the sql "select * from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.columns a where a.table_name='some table name ' " to query columns info, there has a "DESCRIPTION" field ,the value is some comment for the current field.
So is there anyway to return the description to the jdbc remarks field? And is there anyway to update the desciption or remarks field? Or is there some other way that I don't know to manage column comment info?
Hi all,
I'm trying to use LOAD DATA to insert 11k (11,377) rows of data. LOAD BULK DATA is not available for the version of IRIS I am using.
After calling LOAD DATA it says only 5,500 rows has been inserted. The LOAD DATA docs says any error rows are skipped and a count of skipped rows can be found in %SQL_Diag.Result however there are no results here. There are no errors in the xDBC error log either.
Why have over half the rows been skipped?
Hi all....
I couldn't find documentation on how to create a blob using the cache JDBC driver.
I found only one reading example:
https://cedocs.intersystems.com/latest/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cls?…
The createBlob Method of the connection class was not implemented:
https://cedocs.intersystems.com/latest/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cls?…
Does anyone know how to create a blob without compromising the java heap space?
Hi team,
I'll start with an apology as I am trying to wrap my head around the architecture of how InterSystems IRIS database management works. I am attempting to connect to the platform remotely through say a JDBC or ODBC connection in order to run queries, searches (through SQL statements) on my laptop and was trying to understand whether this would be possible? It is possible to setup an inbound client connection and wanted to better understand the architecture of how the database association works for IRIS database management. Does it use it's own internal SQL database or are we able to connect to our own database and which databases are certified to run against the platform?
