Question Anthony Breen · Oct 12, 2020

Hi,

I've successfully installed and configured the custom MESH API supplied by intersystems. I'm able to send HTML rendered documents directly to GP's using Kettering.xml.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to send PDF/RTF files rather than HTML. Is this possible and if so can I still use Kettering xml? I know FHIR is the preferred method of transmission but i've tried sending a test FHIR message through MESH to EMIS but it's not displaying so I'm not sure if EMIS is able to display FHIR formatted messages.

Thanks.

Anthony Breen

Question Dmitry Maslennikov · Sep 17, 2016

Working on implementation FHIR to my project, I found interesting project HAPI-FHIR, which could help me to quickly launch my FHIR api server with InterSystems Caché as a storage, because this projects uses Hibernate to connect to database, as an example they use DerbyDB. I tried to change settings to use InterSystems Caché, but unfortunately it does not work and throw some errors inside HIbernate. As I found in Caché documentation, I have not some many options, I just have to set Cache dialect, and set database url.  This projects uses Hibernate 5.

Hi,

I've been trying to create a patient using FHIR, but all I seem to get back is:

{"resourceType":"OperationOutcome","issue":[{"severity":"error","code":"invalid","details":{"text":"FHIR create interaction invalid for this end point"},"diagnostics":"FHIR create interaction invalid for this end point"}]}

I've tried a variety of requests and read operations work, but create doesn't seem to. Has anyone run into this? Any ideas? Thanks.

Question Sebastian Thiele · Oct 6, 2023

Hi community,

I am looking for an implementation strategy to create/update organizations in a local ISC based FHIR server. Thoase organizations do have a certain dependancy to one another. For Organization resources the "partOf" property symbolizes that. It is planned, that a Interoperability Production (supporting FHIR Server) receives a bundle which contains a batch export of all organizations of a customer (Hospital). The task is to bring those data into the FHIR server create and/or update organization.

I was looking at conditional create/update since there a two major challanges.

Hello All,

Having a recent project to create a FHIR repository, I want to know (as looking at the code) if HealthShare FHIR implementaton supports subscriptions?.  I know it records the subscriptions ok, BUT does it handle sending the subscription out (based on the tags) to an endpoint (i.e. when a new FHIR request commits data that would trigger the subscription) ?, I'm 50% it doesn't, but would rather find out for sure before shoe horning something in.

   Regards

Question Sebastian Thiele · Feb 27, 2025

Hi guys,

I am looking for a way to search for FHIR Encounter resources from an InterSystems FHIR server where there period.start is before or after a certain time. I can´t get my head around which would be a correct way to do this since docs and FHIR spec is not clear to me which fields can be used for searching with wich prefixes.

In my local InterSystems FHIR server I have a set of Encounter ressources, each set with a period.start and (possibly) a period.end. I´d like to retrieve all Encounters with a start date time prior to a given datetime. I did a little testing with URL parameters.

Hi,

We have a PAS that accepts HL7v2 QBP^Q21 requests, and returns patient details in an RSP^K21.

We have a clinical system that wants to sent an http GET request of the form http://server/getpatientbyid?pid=M1234567

So I think I need to convert the query url into a QBP^Q21 (HL7) message, then take the response in HL7v2, convert to SDA, convert to FHIR, and put that in the response to the  original GET.

Does anyone have any experience doing this? is there an approach you would recomend?

Hi folks!

Researching FHIR bundle transactions.

The idea is that you can post a bundle to a FHIR server with a set of resources. And you can send it as a transaction, so only all the resources will be published or neither.

E.g. I send a bundle of two resources: patient and its observation.

The observation resource should reference an existing patient. But it probably doesn't exist yet on the server and goes within the same bundle.

For this purpose there is a way to have a temporary id in the bundle, to let resources reference ids.

Question Mike Yackanich · Apr 16, 2021

I am attempting to POST a Bundle containing a resource to an ISC-based Resource Repository. Documentation says "batch" interaction is fully supported - so I assume this is possible.

I post to the FHIR base URL, but I get the following back: " The requested URL /customfhir/r4 was not found on this server."

The bundle I use to post to create a patient resource is very simple (see below). I am using a request.method of POST because I want the Resource Repo to create a new fhir resource id.

I'm using Postman to generate the request.

Question Stephen De Gabrielle · Dec 27, 2018

Is there any good documentation/tutorials on creating gateways in both directions between FHIR and Hl7v2 (for Health Connect)?

the scenarios I'm most interested in

1. Client application sends a FHIR demographic query to Health Connect - and the interface has to convert this to Hl7v2 QBP^Q11 message to the PAS.

2. Health connect sends a PDF document (from a file or HL7v2 interface) to an EPR over FHIR.

Thanks

Stephen

We are using Health Connect  15.03 - Cache for Windows (x86-64) 2017.2.1 (Build 801U) Wed Dec 6 2017 09:07:51 EST [HealthShare Modules:Core:15.03.9901 + Linkage Engine:15.03.

I need to create a JWT to connect to EPIC FHIRserver sandbox.

https://fhir.epic.com/Documentation?docId=oauth2&section=BackendOAuth2G…

You will generate a one-time use JSON Web Token (JWT) to authenticate your app to the authorization server and obtain an access token that can be used to authenticate your app's web service calls. There are several libraries for creating JWTs. See jwt.io for some examples.

The header and payload are then base64 URL encoded, combined with a period separating them, and cryptographically signed using the private key to generate a signature.

Hoping someone can help,

I have the "Sample FHIR Production" installed ( as described in the documentation) with the following Components:

Service: HS.Gateway.ECR.SDA3XMLFileService

Processes: HS.FHIR.FromSDA.DTL.Transaction.Process

Operations: HS.FHIR.Repository.Operations

When a patient's data gets updated in my application a new SDA3 message is generated and processed by the FromSDA DTL. The Repository Stores that data as a New patient ( i.e. when I query the Repo they have different IDs "resource":{ "resourceType":"Patient", "id":"4", ) .

Question Eyal Levin · Feb 25, 2024

Hi,

I have a scenario where I recognize that I have a duplicate patient in FHIR , both have a different set of data attached to them (Specimens / Observations / Conditions) and I want to transfer all the data from patient X to patient Y,  and maybe mark patient X as not relevant or delete it IDK yet.

since Patch currently supports only single patch,

"The Conditional Patch query identified more than one resource."

I can't use it as a bulk, but I need to loop through all the resources I find that are connected to patient X,

so I guess my question is how would you do it?

Hello community,

on my first steps with processing FHIR requests, I tried to create a capability statement resource an returning its content JSON or XML, depending on what is requested by the client.

I create a CapabilityStatement object by parsing a JSON file with:

#dim tCapStat as HS.FHIR.DTL.vR4.Model.Resource.CapabilityStatement = ##class(HS.FHIR.DTL.vR4.Model.Resource.CapabilityStatement).FromJSONFile("/opt/home/data/fhir/UkerQsCapabilityStatement.json","vR4")

then, depending on the content of pRequest.Request.ResponseFormatCode I create a HS.SDA3.QuickStream Object with

do tStream.

I want to install a new FHIR server from the Management Portal using the below steps, but not able to find FHIR Configuration setting under my newly created foundation namespace.

  1. Open the Management Portal and switch to the Foundation namespace where you want the FHIR server installed. If you do not have a Foundation namespace, go to Health, and select Installer Wizard from the top menu bar. The Configure Foundation button allows you to create a new Foundation namespace. Be sure to activate the namespace after creating it. Done
  2. Navigate to Health > MyNamespace > FHIR Configuration.

Hoping someone can help.

I had posted a similar question outside this group a while ago "Errors requesting data from local Ensemble FHIR Repository" but haven't had the chance to follow up on it since. It was suggested I re-post inside this group.

I'm trying to request data from my local FHIR repository using a simple JavaScript client and am getting the following CORS errors . ( It is a standalone client not inside HealthShare without CSP etc. on my localhost ).

Hello;

I have created an App launch to my FHIR app in the sandbox and am able to access Patients that are provided in the Sandbox. Having done this, I would now like to upload a  test patient in a FHIR bundle to the sandbox, however I have not been able to find out how I can do this.

Can you provide some direction/tools that I can use to upload my bundle to the sandbox?

Thanks

I reached out to Gary Monger yesterday and asked him how he configured Apache for his SMART on FHIR demo?
See https://learning.intersystems.com/mod/page/view.php?id=2948.
Gary's response was for me to post my question on the Developer Community forum - so that other people can benefit from the answer.

This is what I asked Gary:

I'm after turning a local Health Share instance on my laptop into a SMART on FHIR server.

The *recording about doing all of this is excellent, however, I could do with some instructions on how you configured the Apache web server before running the Cache scripts.

Hi community,

I´ve setup a local FHIR server via the framework functionality und set a service config name for the created endpoint since I plan to use a production based FHIR server. I´ve created an additional ressource "FhirClientRessource" and role "FhirClientRole" as well as a user named "FhirClient". The Role resource "FhirClientRessource" ist set as "required resource" in the FHIR server configuration page. The user "FhirClient" is member of the Role "FhirClientRole" which in turn holds RWU priveliges on the "FhirClientRessources".

The user itself does not have the %All Permission.

HI,

Has anyone implemented the NHS Care Connect profile in HealthShare and if so could you share the steps you took?

I am not looking to integrate it into the SDA model,  Just looking having the classes within HealthShare and then applying a DTL to convert to HL7 2.x

I was hoping i could just down load the profiles from git hub and import into Studio but it appears I need the XSD to do this, which are not available.

Cheers,

Jason

I have been successfully able to transform hand-written medical test results documents to HL7 ORU_R01 v2.x, then to SDA, which will be trasformed to FHIR or C-CDA.
However, I have a category of documents which contains reference range in multiple date formats, which are measured for each gestation period.
For example, below is one of the documents.

Analyte: HCG, Value: 1968, Unit: mlU/mL

Reference Range:
Week of gestation: 3, Range: 5.8-71.2
Week of gestation: 4, Range: 9.

This YouTube video about submitting a FHIR transaction bundle impressed me. It shows me two things:

  1. how a new resource (in the video, the Observation) referencing another new resource (the Patient) in the same bundle can be done, given that their link-up will be sorted out in the repository and reflected in the subsequent retrieval through a HTTP GET; and
  2. how a conditional create with the PUT method may be achieved, in case we cannot tell if such a resource (e.g. the Patient with an identifier) to be submitted may or may not exist.

Question Laura Blázquez García · Jun 9, 2025

I have created a new docker stack with webgateway and IRIS for Health 2025.1. I have mapped the posts of wegateway like this:

  • 8743:443
  • 8780:80

I can access IRIS portal through 8743 without problems.

I also have created a FHIR repository, and I'm able to access it through 8743 port.

I have a web application, in another server with another domain, that connects to this FHIR repository. I have configured in FHIR endpoint the allowed origin to the domain of this application.
