Question Tom Philippi · Jan 17, 2018

We are trying to make an ODBC connection via our intersystems ensemble (2016.2 running on ubuntu). However, when I am testing the connection I receive a pop-up that: "Http object response incomplete or invalid.0,#R". Note that the iodbctrace.log remains empty (and it is working because on the first try it registered a 459 error that I should activate kerberos, which I did). Any advise where I should look?
I have taken the following actions:

1. Expand the cacheodbc.ini in the mgr directory as follows:

[ODBC Data Sources]
Samples = Samples
Samplesunixodbc = Samplesunixodbc
User = User

I have a vendor that only wants results on patients that arrive to the ED via EMS/Ambulance.  The value I need for filtering is in the PV2;38. Some of the results requested do not allow the PV2 segment to be added to the schema in the EMR.  I was told that other orgs have used a lookup table that is populated with the PV1;19 value when an ADT messages that meets the criteria is sent in.  This table is then referenced in the business rule for the results that do not have PV2;38 and if Encounter number from result message exists on the Table, the result is sent.  Has anyone done this before?

I have been walking through this with a few team members and as such I thought there might be others out there who could use it, especially if you work with HL7 & Ensemble/HealthConnect/HealthShare and never venture out past the Interoperability section.

First, I would like to establish that this is an extension of the already established documentation on importing and exporting SQL data found here: https://docs.intersystems.com/iris20241/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cls?KEY=GSQL_impexp#GSQL_impexp_import

This tutorial will explicitly detail how to create, populate or update a Data LookUp Ta

Mirroring only synchronizes database files.

To synchronize other files required for your application (CSP files, images, documents, etc.) between the two servers that make up the mirror set follow one of the approaches:

  1. Place those files on a shared disk by introducing a NAS or similar device
  2. Or use file sync software to synchronize files between two servers.

Dear, Community!

I have a concern about using %Stream.TmpCharacter for storage purposes. Reading the class's source code, I can understand a bit about how it works. But I'd like to know from the community how it actually works. Is it necessary to use the .Clear() method to clear this buffer, or is it done automatically upon disposal?

Note: Please forgive my poor English.

Studio's Find In Files finds nothing if CLS routines are included. The error is WIDE CHAR. After using ##class(%Studio.Project).FindInFiles programmatically and then ZW after the same error I strongly suspect that CodeWalkopdatecopyopt in EnsLib.InteropTools.HL7.Cloverleaf.Parser.cls  is to blame. I cannot even open this class, unlike other classes from EnsLib.InteropTools.HL7. This error prevents searching even if System Items are excluded and I would peg EnsLib as System. Any remedy besides updating IRIS? Assuming this is fixed in later IRIS versions.

Hello,

I'm trying to get the Reply Action Code to work with the error message text.

I have this ACK:

MSH|^~\&|APP|FACIL|||20250821143621||ACK|CUEACK_20250821143621|P|2.4
MSA|AE||Failed to queue message

This is some of the Action Codes I've tried:

  • E*Failed to queue message=S
  • E*Failed=S
  • E*"Failed to queue message"=S
  • :E*Failed to queue message=S
  • :?E*Failed to queue message=S

It's not suspending the message however.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you

Working in healthcare IT as a young developer, especially on InterSystems TrakCare, you quickly realize one thing: it’s not just about HL7 messages or backend integrations. A hugepart of making TrakCare work smoothly for hospitals comes down to how it’s configured, customized, and supported on the application side.

That’s where people like me come in—techno-functional developers who understand both the tech and how it impacts actual hospital workflows.

We’re Not Just Techies (or Functional Consultants)

Our role sits right in the middle. We're the ones:

If you’ve ever watched a true artisan—whether a potter turning mud into a masterpiece or a luthier bringing raw wood to life as a marvelous guitar—you know that magic isn’t in the materials, but in care, craft, and process. I know this firsthand: my handmade electric guitar is a daily inspiration, but I’ll admit—creating something like that is a talent I don’t have.

Yet, in the digital world, I often see people hoping for “magic” from generative AI by typing vague, context-free prompts like “build an app.” The results are usually frustratingly shallow—no artistry, no finesse. Too many expect

If you are investigating complex structured Globals this can become
a rather boring typing exercise. Different from Global Explorer in
System Management Portal Global-Inspector allows a kind of drill-down
to dig deeper and deeper by subscript levels.
You also have the option to see the stored content or to show only
the subscript structures.
Globals storing SQL Tables are probably not so thrilling, but in SYSTEM
space you find real trees with completely different branches and twigs.

Global-Inspector can run in browser or from terminal command line.

You can check the free disk space at any time using the system utility class: SYS.Database and query: FreeSpace.

Here's how to try it in the IRIS terminal (go to the %SYS namespace and then run it):

zn"%SYS"set stmt=##class(%SQL.Statement).%New()
set st=stmt.%PrepareClassQuery("SYS.Database","FreeSpace")
set rset=stmt.%Execute()
do rset.%Display()

The output result example is as follows:

*In the command execution example, all databases are located on the same disk, so the free disk space (DiskFreeSpace) returns the same value.

Hello everyone,

I'm using EnsLib.TCP.TextLineOutboundAdapter to communicate with a third-party system over TCP/IP. The issue is that the system sends back only an integer (e.g. 1001 or -1) without any terminator (like $c(10)).

The adapter expects a terminator and always times out with ErrTCPTerminatedReadTimeoutExpired, even though the correct data is received. Here an example of an error:

This is the view when accessing management portal through IIS (port 80) - missing images, links don't work, not all content displayed:

Is it possible to audit code changes in a namespace?

Ideally what we'd like to be able to do is check which classes were compiled (or deleted) in a time period, eg in last 3 months, and which user made those changes. Even better would be an audit of what those changes were, but that's less important (for us, as we can probably find that information in other ways).

We have a service where 3 groups, each with multiple users, potentially have access to make changes to the live service. With the best will in the world, each group doesn't always tell every other group about changes made... and it

Hi ISC Experts,

I'm in the process of setting up InterSystems IRIS for HealthShare with database mirroring, and I’d appreciate some guidance around how to handle an existing ODBC connection in this new setup.

Scenario:

  • We currently have a system running IRIS for HealthShare that external systems connect to via ODBC (using a standard connection string with hostname and port).
  • We're now configuring mirroring on this system — it will become one of the mirror members (Primary/Backup).
  • The external system using ODBC will not be part of the mirror, but it needs to continue ac

My intention is to show how simple it is to generate a lookup table taking into account the information received in our HL7 messaging. The HL7 message lookup table provided by IRIS is certainly sufficient for most of the searches we want to perform, but we always have that special field in our HIS, LIS, RIS, etc. that we'd like to search by. But that's in a segment outside of that lookup table. That field forces us to generate a specific search using the expanded search criteria. We'll likely have many messages, and we'll also have to filter by date and time so we don't timeout.

How do

I am trying to add a value to my concatenation string and the value is not being inserted in the right place. I am adding onto this code from another developer and cannot seem to get it to work. The only code I have added is underlined in bold red.

This is how the translated HL7 message looks:

IRIS and Ensemble are designed to act as an ESB/EAI. This mean they are build to process lots of small messages.

But some times, in real life we have to use them as ETL. The down side is not that they can't do so, but it can take a long time to process millions of row at once.

To improve performance, I have created a new SQLOutboundAdaptor who only works with JDBC.

BatchSqlOutboundAdapter

Extend EnsLib.SQL.OutboundAdapter to add batch batch and fetch support on JDBC connection.
