as described in How to post an article from Word or Google Docs, you can use the Paste from Word button to paste content you have copied from a Word or Google Docs document into a Developer Community post.

this worked well for me pasting from Word 10 documents, and retained most (though not all) of my Word formatting. i did have one problem, however, and wanted to pass on my workaround.

Regarding Chat box

Hi Team,

Our community is most useful for my learning. I have one concern.We need to add a chat box for discuss and interact with other developer in our community . It is most useful for maintaining the team relationship and sometime we get guidance from anyone on directly. I known already we have the chat box in global master(that chatbox just we send greetingsrelated messages only). This same one is need for our community also(All are reading articals and question on our community page).So I am asking chat box on our community page also.

I noticed there were some very old dates listed.

What are these dates? Is it the date of the latest post? the date the group was created(not useful)?

Why is the community manager (with out a pic) listed above each of the groups (creator of the group )?

Listing the creator of the group and how longago it was created is not useful information. More useful info is the date of the last post.

Bug: Next page not working

Hello Community,

on the intersystems-data-platform-blog group as well as the developer-community-feedback group are more articles referenced than shown on the first page. But it is not possible to see further articles when going to the next page. After the click the page shows 'no content found' and the back button does not work anymore.
This behaviour can be tricked adding '?page=1' after the url. On the main page community.intersystems.com the next page buttons work.

We can change to this mode of UI in the Create New Post that I think makes the tag usage easier. There's help text under the window in this screen shot and it will contain instructions on the use of tagging, the benefits and also a link to a standing post to request new tags. I think this method of operation will allow us to add many more tags without making them burdensome to navigate.

Thoughts?

Not quite sure how to connect groups to tags in this UI but that might be the next step.

Hey, those who created and are maintaining the Community software.

There is a lot of very good post coming in.

However, how do I either send them off to my Email or a File to save them.

I do no wish to lose some of these posts in the volume of what is coming in!

Help me Mr. Wizard!

Since it took me a while to find the correct place to reply to a specific comment and not the post itself, I thought I'd make this observation an 'improvement request'.

Currently a comment has only the small grey arrow at the bottom, next to the 'favorite' button. The 'favorite' button has color and text which make it way more prominent. The 'reply' button on the other hand is gray and has no text. It's easy to miss.

I suggest adding at least text and perhaps also some color to the 'reply' button to make it stand out more. Even a tooltip would be useful.

Searching the developer community for the string "node.js" leads to navigating to the following URL: https://community.intersystems.com/search/all/node.js for which the browser receives the "404 NOT FOUND" error response. The behavior is consistent for any search string ending on ".js" or ".css" (not sure whether there any other suffixes affected). Please fix the DC to handle such search strings appropriately.

How do I decline an answer?

I posted a question and someone replied with a comment.
This comment was marked as an answer, but the comment does not actually answer the question.

How do I tell the system that the comment is not actually an answer and should not be marked as answered?

Can the original post author decline an answer? What is the answer is incorrect?

Can the community vote on the best answer (like on other popular discussion boards)?

How was it born? Who runs it? How committed is Intersystems to it? Is it run by a dedicated person/team or is it a part time job?

It's difficult to find community support for Intersystems products. I've had relative success lately on StackOverflow but that's mostly thanks to one person (who is also a member here). The point being, this is a very important asset for us as developers, administrators and users of your product. I hope that fact is not lost on management at Intersystems.

Developer Community was refreshed on May 30th with the following new features and fixes:

1. Formatting of postings in My Collaborations and My Content has been improved

2. Browse by Tag now has filtering options for New, Highest Rated and Unanswered posts

3. Full paging is back on the home page

4. Browse by Tag now includes child tags. Example - posts tagged only with "MDX", which is a child tag of "DeepSee", will appear when using Browse by Tag and viewing DeepSee content

I was editing a comment and I hit backspace a few times until there was no text left. Subsequent backspaces will actually be interpreted by the browser as a back command.

Further investigation revealed that hitting backspace on the WYSIWYG editor when there is no contend does remove focus from the element.

I have just received an email digest for a post I submitted as someone has added an answer but it was not clear from the digest why I had received the digest or what had changed.

1) When reading the digest in Outlook it has poor layout and style

Main text is light green on white background - poor contrast

2) Not clear what has changed, ie what should I do as a result of getting this email

Would prefer something like

I can view my own profile just fine, but if I try to view anyone else's, whether they're my friend or not, there's an HTTP 503 response and the following message shows up:

"Temporarily Unavailable

The website that you're trying to reach is having technical difficulties and is currently unavailable.

We are aware of the issue and are working hard to fix it. Thank you for your patience."

Remove comment/answer

Hi community,

This is an idea to improve the community. Add a button to remove a comment/answer in a post. There is not a way to remove a comment, only I can edit. For example, duplicated comment, an answer that it was for a post but I've written in other one. etc...
