This guide introduces essential security features for developers new to IRIS, covering authentication, authorization, encryption, and practical implementation strategies.

Over the past several years, the InterSystems Developer Community has accumulated more than 1,000 open-source projects. Many of them serve as examples and learning materials — but a significant number have become useful tools, libraries, integrations, and real-world components used in production.

Some of these projects are mine, and like many community developers, I’ve seen the same recurring problem:

  • It’s easy to create an open-source project.
  • It’s hard to maintain, support, and develop it sustainably — especially without funding.

Writing code is one thing.
Supporting it for years, keeping up with new IRIS versions, building CI pipelines, writing documentation, fixing issues, reviewing PRs — all of this demands both time and motivation, and the biggest motivator is often financial support.

This is not a new challenge.
The global open-source world has faced this for decades and has developed various models to support OSS ecosystems.

I believe it’s time for the InterSystems community to start a discussion about adopting a similar model.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to connect my Laravel application with the InterSystems IRIS Data Platform using ODBC.I need help setting up the ODBC connection and querying the database properly. What is the proper way to configure Laravel to work with an ODBC connection to InterSystems IRIS?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dear community, my company use intersystems iris, a old version of 2019 and centos 7.9

At the moment, we are faced with a rather strange luck of iris.

Every day during working hours, we receive a error that iris primary cannot transfer the journal to the backup node.

We have availability monitoring, these errors do not affect availability in any way, but I still wanted to analyze this error.

I understand that the severity of this error is only 1, but Can someone share a diagnostic method this error?

I need a DTL to handle this.

For all Prosthetics orders:
when ORC-1(Order Control) is "NW" (New Order), need to update OBR-18(Placer Field 1) based on PV1-2 (Patient Class) value.
assumption is that the selection logic is that all prosthetics orders with OBR-18 field is always blank.
Description :
If PV1-2 is I, insert I in OBR-18
If PV1-2 is O, insert O in OBR-18
If PV1-2 is E, insert O in OBR-18
If PV1-2 is P, insert O in OBR-18
If PV1-2 is R, insert O in OBR-18
If PV1-2 is B, insert O in OBR-18

Hello,

I begin to work with VSCode and all is ok but i have just one problem with ObjectscriptQuality plugin. I have no feedback in the problem tab using the objectScriptQuality plugin.

I only have feedback from InterSystems Language Server plugin. Where could the problem come from?

My goal is to use objectscriptQyality with the basic rules at first
