Hello Programmers,
I'm trying to use Intersystems IRIS Database with
Quarkus, but I'm getting problems making it work
does anyone knows how to set up the Intersystems IRIS Database
on Quarkus ?

I did that on my pom.xml  and also I added the jar
hibernate-iris-1.0.0.jar and intersystems-jdbc-3.2.0.jar but it's not working

<dependency>

I am using a Gradle Project for testing APIs, but I need to connect to the database.

I already put this on the dependencies:

And I'm trying to use this way:

But I'm keep getting this error: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.intersys.jdbc.CacheDriver

Is there any place that I can put a JAR file? Because the project has no lib folder (I already tried to add it, but it doesn't work).

Spring Boot is the most used Java framework to create REST API and microservices. It can be used to deploy web or executable web or desktop self-contained apps, where the application and another dependencies are packaged toghether. Springboot allows you do to a lot of functions, see:

Note: to learn about SpringBoot see official site - https://spring.io/quickstart

To create an web api application, with one or more microservices can you use Spring IDE for Eclipse or VSCode and use a wizard to config the technologies above that will be used into your app, see:

Hi....
I am trying to execute legacy routines from Cache 2018, into new environment with Iris 2021. I use new JDBC driver to make this connection, and change my java code to execute this legacy  routines. But I get this write error: <REMOTE EXECUTE INVALID WRITE>
I changed the mnemonic routine to populate object and return this object to java. And the java class convert this object to json.
This is my simple classes used for this process, just to exemplification:

Astronomers’ tools

5 years ago, on December 19, 2013, the ESA launched an orbital telescope called Gaia. Learn more about the Gaia mission on the official website of the European Space Agency or in the article by Vitaly Egorov (Billion pixels for a billion stars).

However, few people know what technology the agency chose for storing and processing the data collected by Gaia. Two years before the launch, in 2011, the developers were considering a number of candidates (see “Astrostatistics and Data Mining” by Luis Manuel Sarro, Laurent Eyer, William O’Mullane, Joris De Ridder, pp. 111-112):

Comparing the technologies side-by-side produced the following results (source):

Technology Time
DB2 13min55s
PostgreSQL 8 14min50s
PostgreSQL 9 6min50s
Hadoop 3min37s
Cassandra 3min37s
Caché 2min25s

The first four will probably sound familiar even to schoolchildren. But what is Caché XEP?

Hello. I'm having problems migrating a java application that is running with cache 2018 to Iris
The application uses json generated by the cache to receive it as a string in java.

Basically an instance of the "%ZEN.proxyObject" class
On Iris I've been trying to convert this '%ZEN.proxyObject Object to an instance of the %GlobalBinaryStream class and I need to get it via reference.
But I haven't had success yet. I Just found example with primitive dataTypes via reference and I need a Streams.
Has anyone done something like that?
This is my cache class example:

PEX is a new InterSystems IRIS feature to allows extends IRIS with existent features from Java or .NET.

It is possible create interoperability inbound and outbound adapters, business services (integrate from external to internal) and operations (integrate internal to external).

To create a PEX component it is necessary import .NET (InterSystems.EnsLib.PEX.*) or Java (com.intersystems.enslib.pex.*) packages and extends or implements the properly class.

In this article I will use my OCR Service. It has a PEX business Operation, see the code:

In this article, I will show how you can easily containerize  .Net/Java Gateways.

For our example, we will develop an Integration with Apache Kafka.

And to interoperate with Java/.Net code we will use PEX .

Architecture

Our solution will run completely in docker and look like this:

Java Gateway

First of all, let's develop Java Operation to send messages into Kafka. The code can be written in your IDE of choice and it can look like this.

In short:

  • To develop new PEX Business Operation we need to implement  abstract com.intersystems.enslib.pex.BusinessOperation class
  • Public properties are

Hi Developers!  Let me share with you some exercises from a workshop about developing interoperability components in Java using PEX (Production EXtension).

You will find slides and step by step exercises about:

  • Understanding simple PEX components coded in Java.
  • Making some changes on them.

All built using containers, so you don't need to build a local Java environment.

You can reach the repository here: https://openexchange.intersystems.com/package/workshop-pex

Java Business Host is now retired

With the release of PEX in InterSystems IRIS 2020.1 and InterSystems IRIS for Health 2020.1, customers have a better way to build Java into productions than the Java Business Host. PEX provides a complete set of APIs for building interoperability components and is available in both Java and .NET.

The Java Business Host has been removed from InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health as of their 2020.4 releases.  Customers using the Java Business Host are encouraged to migrate to PEX.

Advantages of PEX

According to IDC, more than 80% of information it is NoSQL, especially text into documents. When the digital services or applications not process all this information, the business lose. To face this challenge, it is possible use OCR technology. OCR uses machine learning and/or trained image patterns to transform image pixels into text. This is important, because many documents are scanned into images inside PDF, or many documents contains images with text inside. So OCR are an important step to get all possible data from a document.

To do OCR, the main open source solution used is Google

The InterSystems IRIS can be extended using Java or .NET components and its frameworks inside Object Script source code.

I created an application called OCR Service. It built with Docker and installs Google Tesseract inside docker instance configured with english and portuguese dialects, but is possible install more than other 100 dialects.Google Tesseract can receive images and return text extracted from it, using OCR.The results are very good with the trained dialects. But you can train Tesseract to read car plates and any other textual patterns and load it to extract text.

Using the Java Gateway to speed development

InterSystems IRIS includes dynamic object gateways for Java, .NET, and (now) Python.  These gateways allow your IRIS application to use libraries in these languages, removing the need to create everything from scratch in ObjectScript.

In this example, we use the iTextPdf and Apache PdfBox libraries to read a text file and produce a basic PDF from it. These libraries are deep and rich PDF controls, so a little bit of development could produce an example application that produces far more compelling results for your needs.

Hi everyone, i'm using a render server to make pdf output with zen report and everything was fine till recently i've been getting this error message and i have no idea what it means, i'd be very thankfull if someone could help or got into the same situation.

Error message:

Required content model: marker* (table-row+|table-cell+) (See position 817:-1)

Hello,

We would need some help.

We have a Java project in Eclipse which uses two external libraries, which are referenced as a maven pom.xml dependency.

We created a JAR with all the dependencies included.

We have used the Java Gateway Wizard as follows:

In the image you could see that we have chosen the project's jar, written IP and PORT of Gateway and written all external dependencies' server path separated with semicolons.

It generates the following Ensemble class:
