So why use cosFaker if caché has the populate data utility?

For several weeks I'm creating reviews on OEX.
So I'd like to explain to you the criteria that I apply to find my ratings.

If you work with Portal on multiple instances of Caché, Ensemble or HealthShare you might find it useful to set the System Mode of the various instances, so as to give yourself a visual reminder of the role of the one you're currently working on.

For instance:

Similar to Caché so also in IRIS, you have ClassQueries available in 2 variants

• Basic class queries, which use the class %SQLQuery and an SQL SELECT statement.
• Custom class queries, which use the class %Query and custom logic to execute, fetch, and close the query.

In Studio you could open a class directly via it's name, without having to traverse the package tree with multiple clicks until arriving at the desired class.

You would Ctrl + O or (File -> Open) and be able to simply type in the class name, for example:

You press Enter, and viola - the class is opened.

How do you achieve this in VSCode?

The Command extension enables the execution of Multi-Line Commands from Terminal prompt.

This Multi-Line Commands Editor also will execute the Multi-line Commands.
In addition, it is independent of access to %SYS and can be installed in any namespace

I'm sharing a little tool (REST service) to download interoperability messages from your browser.

You only need to:
1. Create a web application in Management Portal (e.g. /downloadmsg) and set DispatchClass=Util.DownloadMsg.
2. Call the tool using your browser passing the namespace and the message header id to download.

We use the Caché JDBC Gateway to Oracle and SQL servers to directly invoke their stored procedures from Ensemble. Getting quick, inline data results back are typically handled within the Functions.Library class as a function to wrap the query and format the return appropriately.

Every now and then you may encounter a situation where for various reasons
ODBC is the only option to access a remote system. Which is sufficient as long as you need to examine or change tables.
But you can't directly execute some commands or change some Global.
