Question Gautam Rishi · Sep 8, 2023

Hi all,
I am trying to execute a query like the below code.
set statement = ##class(%ResultSet).%New("some_class:query_method").   // here query method is empty and with rowspec some columname

statement.Execute(param1)

I want to fetch data type of column value returned from above. eg - Name - VARCHAR, amount - INTEGER etc.
How can I get it. Or if not possible directly. Is there any other way to validate or get datatype of values returned. Line we have type() in python3

Question Pietro Di Leo · Jun 13, 2024

Hello everyone,

Recently, I've been working on a Business Process that processes a large JSON FHIR message containing up to 50k requests in an array within the JSON.

Currently, the code imports the JSON as a dynamic object from the original message stream, obtains an iterator from it, and processes each request one at a time in a loop.

The performance meets the requirements, even with much larger requests than the one exposed above.

Question Evgeny Shvarov · Oct 8, 2022

Folks!

Could you please share any best practices on how to debug Embedded Python code?

Given I have the following class method:

ClassMethod HideShip() As %Status [ Language = python ]
{
    import iris
    shipsgl=iris.gref(iris.cls(__name__)._GetParameter("BoardStorage"))
    shipsgl.kill()
    from random import Random
    board=iris.cls(__name__)._GetParameter("BoardRange")
    x=random.randint(0,board+1)
    y=random.randint(0,board+1)
    shipsgl.set([x,y],1)
}

And when I run it shows the following error:

USER>d ##class(eshvarov.sample.SeaBattle.GamePython).

How can I get the Python error object(exception return value) from the embedded python method?
I have an embedded Python method like as below;

ClassMethod test2() As XXX [ Language = python ]
{
   try:
    a=1/0

   except Exception as ex:
    print("Exception: %s" % str(ex))
    return ex
}

I'm not sure what kind of return type to set for this classmethod.   "As XXX" <--
I tried to set "ClassMethod test2() As %Exception.PythonException [ Language = python ]"
However, I got the following return value when I run the method in the IRIS terminal.

USER>set st= ##class(User.PythonTest).

Hi,

What is the Python syntax I can use from a ClassMethod (developed in an IRIS using embedded Python), in order to invoke another class method,

- in the same class; and

- in another class.

I see 'self' is synonymous to use $this (..) in ObjectScript, but these are ClassMethods I am invoking, and self did not seem to work.

thanks - Steve

Hello,

I'm starting testing embedded python and external libraries.

When I try to use the win32api-library I get the following error :

<THROW> *%Exception.PythonException  230 ^^0^ <class 'ModuleNotFoundError'>: No module named 'win32api' -

This is my code :

ClassMethod CreateDocument(path As %String) [ Language = python ]
{
import win32api

...
}

The librarie is visible in C:\InterSystems\IRIS\mgr\python\win32.

Am I doing something wrong ?

Hi folks!

I'm playing with Embedded python with IRIS trying to do some 'hello-world' exercises.

I'm running IRIS in container and have the following python code:

# Program to test coding with IRIS

print('Hello World')

# Run IRIS Class Method

import iris
print(iris.cls('dc.sample.ObjectScript')).Test()

So, when I execute it, I get the following:

$ /usr/irissys/bin/irispython /irisrun/repo/python/app.py
Hello World

Hi, I am trying to use embedded python in a cache class, but I can only get it to work in the source code namespace.

We map our client namespaces to our source code namespaces using Default Database for Routines under System > Configuration > Namespaces > Edit Namespace in the management portal.

In the source code namespace:

SOURCENEW>w ##class(EF.helloWorld).helloWorldPython()

Hello World!

SOURCENEW>ZN "EVEXAMPLE"

In the client namespace:

EVEXAMPLE>w ##class(EF.helloWorld).helloWorldPython()

W ##CLASS(EF.helloWorld).

My general question is how to convert to a %Library.ListOfObjects to a Python "array-like" structure for use in Matplotlib.

Specifically, I have a Line Object which is comprised of a list of Points (see classes below). I want to pass the line to Python to create a Matplotlib Path.

Bonus points for converting the Point to a Python tuple!

Class geo.model.Point Extends %SerialObject
{
  Property latitude As %Float(MAXVAL = 90.0, MINVAL = -90.0, SCALE = 6);
  Property longitude As %Float(MAXVAL = 180.0, MINVAL = -180.0, SCALE = 6);
}
Class geo.model.

Hi All,

We're doing our first babysteps with embedded Python and IRIS with an interoperability solution. We want to convert a CSV file to an Excel xlt file.

As service we've got a EnsLib.File.PassthroughService which picks up a csv file

As operation we've got a EnsLib.File.PassthroughOperation which writes the Excel file.

In the middle:

We've created an Business Process with an %Stream.GlobalCharacter in the Request and a %Stream.GlobalCharacter  in the Response.

But how do we get the %Stream.GlobalCharacter in the Python ClassMethod?

Has anyone come across a good using Embedded Python to convert a Python List object to an IRIS %List object?

My use case is I want to open an SQL entry with an Objectscript class method, then pass some information from that row into a separate Python class method which will then create a Python List object, then have the Python class method return that list back to the Objectscript class method in such a way that the Python List can be converted to an IRIS %List object for me to then use in the Objectscript code.

I'm currently facing an issue with a Python script in my IRISHealth environment and would appreciate your insights.

I've written a class method, `getTokenCount`, in Python, which uses the `tiktoken` module. However, when I run the script in the terminal using `do ##class(python.openaiUtils).getTokenCount("")`, I encounter the following error:

```
<THROW> *%Exception.PythonException <THROW> 230 ^^0^DO ##CLASS(python.openaiUtils).Test() <class 'ModuleNotFoundError'>: No module named 'tiktoken.
Hello,
I'm looking for a way to write a stored procedure or something to return a ResultSet with Embedded Python.
My goal is the following:
I have a Goal table with a Text field that is free text.
CREATE Table Goal (
    Id int,
    Text VARCHAR(5000)
);
I would like to create a procedure that returns all the entities (in the iKnow sense) in a new Entity column.
Python code, i would like to use :
import iknowpy
engine = iknowpy.iKnowEngine()
# Row to parse
text = 'This is a test of the Python interface to the iKnow engine. another sentence to test this program with.'
engine.
Question Evgeny Shvarov · Oct 2, 2022
Hi folks!
How can I refer to a classmethod of the same class while coding another classmethod with Embedded python?
I know that I can call it with iris.cls(classname).MethodName(), but it's more cumbersome even comparing with ObjectScript, where I can call ..MethodName().
Compare ObjectScript:
do ..SetupGame()
and the same call in EmbeddedPython:
    iris.cls('eshvarov.sample.SeaBattle.GamePython').SetupGame()
Thoughts?
Question Robert Cemper · Mar 11, 2022
It sounds strange though it's embarrassing.
I have a class with ClassMethods written in ISOS and Embedded Python.
The ClassMethods written in ISOS start in the Background as usual. No problems
But my
ClassMethod setPy() [ Language = python ]
{
import iris, datetime, time
- - -
Just fails the JOB command with (even 15 sec) timeout and $ZC=0
This is not funny
My actual workaround:
I created a ClassMethod in ISOS, that does an elegant JobStart
and this ClassMethod only runs the Embedded Python ClassMethod.
Hi developers!
Those who code IRIS solutions in VSCode using Docker often use the convenient ObjectScript menu, which contains links to Management Portal, Class Reference, Unittest portal, Productions, etc.
While drilling down to a Dev Container to code Embedded Python there is no such option, at least within my settings:
So I don't know how to connect to it.
Thoughts?
Hi everyone,
I'm attempting to compile a basic Python code on a remote server, but it appears that the compiler doesn't recognize the language.
The remote server is running a virtual machine with Oracle Linux Server 7.9 (64-bit), and it has IRIS for UNIX (Red Hat Enterprise Linux for x86-64) 2021.1 (Build 215U) [HealthConnect:3.3.0] installed.
When I try to compile a script that includes a Python ClassMethod, such as this "testpy.
Question Robert Cemper · Sep 4, 2023
For my Embedded Python ONLY demo package I need some user input.
Similar to ObjectScript
read "say somthing",reply
I use the Python equivalent
reply = input("say something")
And this works excellent without problems  from Terminal or Doker console
BAD SURPRISE:
with WebTermnial ObjectSscript works fine, but embedded Python fails badly.
I do not care about line terminators without <CR>
but it is just impossible to receive any input.
This is no improvement. The content is missing !!!!
QUESTION to the experts.
What is the Python way around this
Hello,
I need AES ECB with PKSC7 padding for an interface.
Unfortunately, the %SYSTEM.Encryption.AESEncode cannot do this.
Therefore I wanted to include the following python lib.
PyCrptydome -> https://pycryptodome.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html
We need to install the package offline on the system. So I downloaded it and put it in the MGR/Python/ directory.
However, when I try to install it, I get the following error message:
E:\HealthConnect\20201\bin>irispip install E:\HealthConnect\20201\Mgr\python\pycryptodome-3.18.0.tar.
Hi, devs!
What's the way to call the methods of %SYSTEM class from python?
I tried this way:
print(iris.cls('_SYSTEM.OBJ').Version())
and getting an error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
RuntimeError: iris.class: error finding class
Here is how it works in ObjectScript:
USER>w ##class(%SYSTEM.OBJ).Version()
