In a previous question, I have illustrated a few problems using Embedded Python
interactively as you would do from Docker console or IRIS terminal.
Investigation of the causes brought a rather clear picture. It's a classic impedance mismatch

  • While consoles act rather relaxed WebTerminal is very precise in output presentation line terminators from (Embedded) Python's print() function are typically <LF>  0x0A  $C(10) And WebTerminal does exactly this while eg. my console in Docker also does a <CR> und cover. So a sequence of print() looks like a scale
  • Compared to ObjectScript where a WRTE !

SQLBuilder is a flexible and powerful SQL query string builder for InterSystems IRIS,

With SQLBuilder you have nice and clean object oriented methods, instead of having to use concatenation and substituition to generate dynamic queries.

VS Code has a powerful snippets capability, and its Marketplace offers a way for developers to publish their snippets so others can use them. However, publishing on Marketplace takes some effort and snippets targeting InterSystems coders will realistically only be of interest to a very small number of Marketplace visitors.

This inspired me to create oex-vscode-snippets-template, a GitHub template for creating repositories dedicated to publishing code snippets for InterSystems devs.

Also published on Open Exchange and installable using IPM / ZPM is a snippets example repository called oex-vscode-

Strap on this jetpack to boost your developer experience in Visual Studio Code.

DX Jetpack for VS Code was my entry for the 2023 Developer Tools Contest, where it achieved 2nd place in the Experts vote and 5th place in the Community vote. It is an extension pack for VS Code, bundling three entirely new extensions created by me, plus a couple that we at George James Software published previously.

The new extensions are:

If you're reluctant to install DX Jetpack right away, why not try it using a dev container? In the dev container is an InterSystems IRIS Community environment augmented with InterSystems Package Manager (IPM) and the isc-codetidy package.

How many times do we find ourselves rebuilding, copy-pasting, adapting, Business Operations that make calls to REST services, and only adapting one or another part of the final code. This is annoying a lot. To resolve this our inconvenience, I present to you Interopway REST, a set of classes (a micro framework) that allows us to just add Business Operation to Production and use it.

The project is hosted on github, https://github.com/cristianojs/interopway_rest, it is open and we are accepting collaborations.

Let's understand how this works.

InterSystems Production Monitor is a page in Management Portal to display monitoring information for the current running production. I like the page as it comes, but one size does not fit all.

On May 13, 2022 I read this post on Developer Community:

https://community.intersystems.com/post/creating-custom-monitoring-page

I agree with Mark that Production Monitor is complex. I liked the idea to create a nice clean clear monitor page.

I began to work on a Cache Server Page utilizing class methods to provide the production data.

I shared my first attempt with Mark.
