Question Rudy Simons · Oct 31, 2025

Hi,

I'd like to report a really strange behavior of the Intersystems Lite Terminal after executing a simple ObjectScript instruction.

From the Intersystems Lite terminal, execute the following instructions:

- Set uniqueId = "12345678_1"
- Set uniqueId = $p(uniqueId,"_",1)_"_"_($p(uniqueId,"_",*)+1)
After executing the second instruction, the terminal closes without any error.

As a developer who uses Cache as DB for a couple of projects, I'm using REST API's every time, knowing how to consume a resource from REST API, in my opinion, it's crucial to know how to consume external REST Api's using %Net.HttpRequest because it enables integration with modern web applications and services, and it's a crucial skill for a backend developer who loves and uses Cache as a DB.

What and who is %Net.

CCR users can now take advantage of an enhanced syntax for substituting pre-defined tokens with live URL links within phase-related text fields. In addition to the existing <env> token which automatically updates to reflect the Environment of the relevant CCR Record, CCR now introduces three new keywords: <smp> , <smpPrefix> , and <homepage>.

The new <smp> token automatically replaces itself with the URL of the Management Portal's homepage for the System associated with the CCR Record in the Environment that most recently received changes to the Record.

What is TLS?

TLS, the successor to SSL, stands for Transport Layer Security and provides security (i.e. encryption and authentication) over a TCP/IP connection. If you have ever noticed the "s" on "https" URLs, you have recognized an HTTP connection "secured" by SSL/TLS. In the past, only login/authorization pages on the web would use TLS, but in today's hostile internet environment, best practice indicates that we should secure all connections with TLS.

Why use TLS?

So, why would you implement TLS for HL7 connections?

Starting out with ObjectScript, it is really exciting, but it can also feel a little unusual if you're used to other languages. Many beginners trip over the same hurdles, so here are a few "gotchas" you'll want to watch out for. (Also few friendly tips to avoid them)

NAMING THINGS RANDOMLY

We have all been guilty of naming something Test1 or MyClass just to move on quickly. But once your project grows, these names become a nightmare.

➡ Pick clear, consistent names from the start. Think of it as leaving breadcrumbs for your future self and your teammates.

Hello Everyone,
I’m excited to join the InterSystems Developer Community, a place where IRIS, Caché, Ensemble, HealthShare, and all things InterSystems come alive through shared knowledge and collaboration.

A little about me,

  • I’m passionate about building efficient, integration-driven solutions, exploring ObjectScript, working with REST APIs, and diving into analytics tools like DeepSee and IntegratedML.
  • I’m here to learn from your real-world experiences, whether it’s tips on interoperability, performance tuning, or best practices across IRIS and HealthShare ecosystems.

Any time a change is made to the configuration of a running Production, an update is needed to apply any changes in configuration or default settings to the running Production. This has historically been a manual step by the user. Now, if the CCR Client Tools cause a running Production to need update, the Production is updated automatically. This means users will no longer have to navigate to the Production Configuration page and click the 'Update Production' button every time they load an ItemSet.

Question Vachan C Rannore · Aug 1, 2025

Hello Community,

I’d like to know how I can update my login email address from the profile section.

When I click the "Edit" option in my profile, it redirects me to login.intersystems.com. However, even on that page, I don’t see an option to edit the login email address. [unable to edit]

Could someone please guide me on how to change my login email?

Thanks in advance!
