This topic unites posts which describe approaches, tools, and solutions to import and export data into InterSystems IRIS and other InterSystems Data platform products: CSV, JSON, SQL, flat files, binary files, globals, streams, etc.

This is the third part of the series of articles on migrating from the main databases on the market to InterSystems IRIS. In this part, the procedures for migrating from DB2 will be detailed.As described in previous articles, there are currently a few options to do the migration. However, the two most popular options include the usage of DBeaver (https://openexchange.intersystems.com/package/DBeaver) or SQLGateway.

Hi developers!

Sometimes we need to test this or that library, framework, or function vs some dataset. And often we want to deal with some meaningful data.

Recently I added two very simple but meaningful datasets that could be installed with one line.

Titanic Dataset

Application

Contains 800+ records about passengers from the famous cruise liner. The dataset could be installed with:

zpm "install dataset-titanic"

This installs one class dc.data.Titanic with 800+ records.

Countries dataset

Application

The dataset contains data about 167 countries such as population, surface, capital, the average life expectancy. The dataset could be installed as:

zpm "install dataset-countries"

This installs one class dc.data.Countries and the global with data.

Easy data import into IRIS

Sometimes you need quickly and easily import data into IRIS. For this, an IRIS import manager has been developed.

This application allows you to import JSON data and also provides a really simple interface for transferring data from MongoDB collections to IRIS globals. It has never been so easy.

Let's look at examples.

mySQL data importer tool

Hi,

If you want to import data from a mySQL export file (exported with mysqldump), you will find here a little script that could help.

Only the INSERT commands in the sql file are executed into Caché. Indices are not computed for better performance.
%NOINDEX, %NOCHECK and %NOLOCK are generated on each INSERT line.

Currently, the file can not contain a "),(" pattern inside the values part of the INSERT command. If this is the case, the line is skipped. This feature may be implemented in the extractValuesList method.

Hi,

I have an odd problem that occurs when I'm trying to import lookup tables in the XML format into Studio.

I store my files in in C:\CodeRepository.

I can manually import these lookup tables using "Import local..." option in the InterSystems Studio.

However, when I'm trying to import them using command in terminal: do $system.OBJ.LoadDir("C:\CodeRepository\","ck")

I'm getting the following error:

I am exporting data from Cache using the SQL export wizard. This is on a docker image of Cache hosted on a Linux server.

I select my database, schema, and table, make sure that all columns are being exported, check other settings, and then finish the export.

All server settings look correct and permissions are rwe on the directory. I have tried various directories, including a system level directory. I tried creating the file before I do the export in case there was an issue with creating the files, and I also made sure the created files had rwe permisisons.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how to export projects via VSC?

I opened the project through the "InterSystems Tools" plugin (command is "Edit Code in Project") and I can correctly work on it.

However, when I try using the "ObjectScript" plugin to export the project (right click on the project -> "Export Project Contents")

This message appears and it is not possible to export the project:

We are retiring a hosted application for an electronic health care records (EHR) system which stored the data on Cache for UNIX (Red Hat Enterprise Linux for x86-64) 2017.2.2 (Build 867_4_20245) Thu Oct 8 2020 16:58:40 EDT. The hosting company is providing me with a single CBK file. I need to install a database system to restore the database and provide occasional SQL access for reports when necessary. I'll need to maintain access to the data for an approximately 10 year retention period. Not sure how to approach restoring this old of a database and eventually upgrading it to a newer re

Hi,

I am trying to load all the data tables from one iris server to a client server but some of the tables data failing to load all the time. But I can load around 100 tables successfully but 8 to 10 tables are failing all the time. I made an IRIS odbc connection using odbc driver to load the data from tables.

Also I can see read server loop error message on the iris server side as the same time the table loading fails.

Please find the screen shot attached which shows the error on client server.

Exported contents of a namespace on one server (classes, include files and lookup tables). Importing that code into a newly created namespace on another server. Both servers Ensemble 2018.1, same build. Export was via InterSystems Studio. Export is around 18Mb in total (XML file sizes).

When importing and compiling on the new server, getting errors as below - with #6301: SAX XML Parser error prominent - on a number of the imported files, all containing data transformations or business processes.

hi,I meet a problem,i want to move huge data from ensemble to oracle.it`s about 3years business data.i have tried some case！

1. EnsLib.SQL.OutboundAdapter

i parse the data one by one,and translate it into inser or update sql statement then write to Oracle，it·s most slowly，and take more disk space。

2.save the data to a new table，and then use dbeaver transport data to oracle。

3.user linktable. save object as insert，but，i can·t user %openid method.

Is there a command that will loop through the flat files of a given Linux/Unix folder? I can write the code to open and read each file. But the file names are unknown. I am looking for a way to access each file given a named Linux folder. The files have differing structures so a record map will not work.
