InterSystems announces its first preview, as part of the developer preview program for the 2024.1 release.  This release will include InterSystems IRIS^®,  InterSystems IRIS^® for Health^TM, and HealthShare^® Health Connect.

Highlights

Many updates and enhancements have been added in 2024.1 and there are also brand-new capabilities, such as Using vectors in ObjectScript,  Vector Search (experimental), Multi-Volume Database, the ability to use Fast Online Backup (experimental), and the introduction of Multiple Super Server Ports. IAM 3.4 Release

InterSystems API Manager (IAM) version 3.4.2 is now Generally Available.  In additional to bug fixes and minor improvements IAM 3.4 includes several features that might be of interest to IRIS customers.

The 2023.1.3 extended maintenance releases of InterSystems IRIS, InterSystems IRIS for Health, and HealthShare Health Connect is now available. It provides bug fixes for any of the previous 2023.1.x releases.

From time to time InterSystems must respin a release to correct 1-2 issues. This process generates new kits called "Point Releases".

A Point Release is distinct from maintenance or feature releases.  Its objective is to correct an urgent issue in the field quickly and surgically.  

The 2023.2 releases of InterSystems IRIS Data Platform, InterSystems IRIS for Health, and InterSystems IRIS Studio are now Generally Available (GA).

RELEASE HIGHLIGHTS

2023.2 is a Continuous Delivery (CD) release. Many updates and enhancements have been added in 2023.2:

Private Web Server

Starting with this release:

• Local InterSystems IRIS installation will no longer install the private web server. Access to the Management Portal and other built-in web applications will require configuration of a connection to an external web server. Installation will include the option to automatically configure

Discontinuation of the Private Web Server (PWS)

A major topic in this release is the discontinuation of the Private Web Server (PWS) from the installers.  This feature has been announced since last year and it's removed from InterSystems installers, starting with this developer preview.

InterSystems has corrected two defects.

The first defect can cause an ECP application server to hang. This defect is only relevant to ARM and IBM Power processors; it is present in version 2022.1.2 and 2022.1.3 of InterSystems IRIS®, InterSystems IRIS for Health™, and HealthShare® Health Connect. The correction is identified as DP-423661. The defect is addressed in all future versions. 

The second defect can, in rare circumstances, cause dejournaling to hang. This defect is present in versions 2020.4, 2021.x, 2022.x, and 2023.1 of InterSystems IRIS®, InterSystems IRIS for Health™, and

InterSystems announces its sixth preview, as part of the developer preview program for the 2023.2 release.  This release will include InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health.

  • Provides SAML v2.0 authentication and authorization between a service provider (Kong Gateway) and an identity provider (IdP).

  • This new plugin allows you to reduce the risk of XML attacks by checking the structure of XML payloads. This validates maximum complexity (depth of the tree), maximum size of elements and attributes.
• AppDynamics (app-dynamics)
  
  • Integrate Kong Gateway with the AppDynamics APM Platform.
• JWE Decrypt (jwe-decrypt)
  
  • Allows you to decrypt an inbound token (JWE) in a request.

In a healthcare setting we've an Ensemble namespace through which passes a key HL7 feed (the ADT feed from our PAS). It is split up, transformed and passed on to multiple downstream systems. We consider the feed going to each downstream system an interface. Each interface is developed as separately as possible - typically as a separate branch of our git repo (which we access via VS Code).

All this is fine till we try and name the version(s).We both want to know what is currently in live (the sum of all the interfaces in the namespace) and know what version each  specific interface is at.
