I’m excited to share the project I’ve submitted to the current InterSystems .Net, Java, Python, and JavaScript Contest — it’s called IRIStool and Data Manager, and you can find it on the InterSystems Open Exchange and on my GitHub page.

While working with external languages for IRIS (such as Python and Node.js), one of the first things you must accomplish is making a connection to an IRIS instance.

For instance, to make a connection in python (from https://pypi.org/project/intersystems-irispython/):

I was really surprised that such a flexible integration platform with a rich toolset specifically for app connections has no out-of-the-box Enterprise Service Bus solution. Like Apache ServiceMix, Mule ESB, SAP PI/PO, etc, what’s the reason? What do you think? Has this pattern lost its relevance completely nowadays? And everybody moved to message brokers, maybe?

I've been trying to set up a script I can run after installing an instance to enable IPM across all namespaces. I have been able to install IPM successfully using

SQLTools is a Visual Studio Code (VS Code) Extension with over 3.5 million downloads that provides connections to many of the most used databases, including InterSystems IRIS, using drivers.

Two big changes for the TestCoverage open source tool: Embedded Python support, and a new UI 

Embedded Python

Previously, TestCoverage could only track unit test coverage for code written in ObjectScript. It would ignore code written in other languages like Python in the coverage statistics.

As more and more IRIS application code is being written in Embedded Python instead of just ObjectScript, it's critical that TestCoverage can include coverage results for Embedded Python code.

I encountered the following errors while installing the ZPM module on version 2025.1. The ZPM install command failed on the Community Edition of IRIS for Health.

As you know the concept of ObjectScript Package Manager consists of ZPM client - client application for IRIS which helps you to install packages from the registry. And the code which works "on the other side" is  ZPM Registry - server which hosts packages and exposes API to submit, list and install it. Now when you install the ZPM client it installs packages from community package registry, which si hosted on pm.community.intersystems.com

But what if you want your own registry? E.g. you produce different software packages for your clients and you want to distribute it via private registry?  Also, you may want to use your own registry to deploy solutions with different combinations of packages.

Is it possible? The answer is YES! You can have it if you deploy ZPM registry on your server with InterSystems IRIS.

To make it happen you would need to set up your own registry server.

How to do that?

There are a lot of great community articles regarding "vector search on IRIS", and samples in OpenExchange. Everytime I see these, I'm so excited to know that so many developers already try vectors on IRIS!

But if you've not tried "Vector Search on IRIS" yet, please give me one minute 😄 I create one IRIS class - and with only one IRIS class you can see how you put vector data in your IRIS database and how you compare these in your application.

One of the challenges of creating a DICOM message is how to implement putting data in the correct place. Part of it is by inserting the data in the specific DICOM tags, while the other is to insert binary data such as a picture - In this article I will explain both.

To create a DICOM message, you can either use the  EnsLib.DICOM.File class (to create a DICOM file) or the  EnsLib.DICOM.Document class (to create a message that can be sent to PACS directly). In either case, the SetValueAt method will allow you to add your data to the DICOM tags.
