November 19, 2021 - Advisory: Apache Web Server provided with InterSystems kits – Vulnerability reports

InterSystems kits include an Apache web server, which provides a convenient way for customers to interact with the Caché/IRIS Management Portal without needing to install an external web server; however, this web server should never be used for production instances, and customers must install a web server that fits their specific needs and security/risk requirements.

Recent tests have noted some security issues with the currently included Apache web server.

InterSystems is very pleased to announce the 2021.1 release of InterSystems IRIS Data Platform, InterSystems IRIS for Health and HealthShare Health Connect, which are now Generally Available to our customers and partners.

The enhancements in this release offer developers more freedom to build fast and robust applications in their language of choice, both server-side and client-side. This release also enables users to consume large amounts of information more effectively through new and faster analytics capabilities.

October 26, 2021 – Alert: Missing Locks after ECP Database Server Restart or Failover

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can violate application locking guarantees in a distributed cache cluster (ECP configuration), which can lead to application integrity issues. This defect affects:

• All major releases and maintenance versions of InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health, starting with 2020.1.

July 21, 2021 – Alert: Incorrect Query Results with Non-Standard ‘GROUP BY’ Query

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can cause incorrect query results. This defect affects:

• All major releases and maintenance versions of InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health, starting with 2019.1.0

A query block may encounter the defect only if it meets all the following conditions:

• The query block contains a GROUP BY clause but does not include any aggregates, such as COUNT(*).

June 16, 2021 - Advisory: Discontinued Technologies and Features

Note: A previous version of this advisory listed Caché Server Pages as a deprecated technology. Caché Server Pages is not deprecated and is fully supported.

From time to time, InterSystems discontinues development of a technology when newer and better options are available.  However, product support for these capabilities continues in the same way that it does for products beyond our Minimum Supported Version.

The GA release is now published for the 2.3 version of the InterSystems API Manager (IAM).

The container for IAM, including all relevant artifacts to upgrade from earlier versions of IAM can be downloaded from the WRC Software Distribution site in the Components area.

The build number for this release is IAM 2.3.3.2-1. 

This release is based on Kong Enterprise version 2.3.3.2.

I am pleased to announce the availability of InterSystems Container Registry. This provides a new distribution channel for customers to access container-based releases and previews. All Community Edition images are available in a public repository with no login required. All full released images (IRIS, IRIS for Health, Health Connect, System Alerting and Monitoring, InterSystems Cloud Manager) and utility images (such as arbiter, Web Gateway, and PasswordHash) require a login token, generated from your WRC account credentials.

Java Business Host is now retired

With the release of PEX in InterSystems IRIS 2020.1 and InterSystems IRIS for Health 2020.1, customers have a better way to build Java into productions than the Java Business Host. PEX provides a complete set of APIs for building interoperability components and is available in both Java and .NET.

The Java Business Host has been removed from InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health as of their 2020.4 releases.  Customers using the Java Business Host are encouraged to migrate to PEX.

Preview releases are now available for the 2021.1 version of InterSystems IRIS, IRIS for Health and HealthShare Health Connect.

As this is a preview release, we are eager to learn from your experiences with this new release ahead of its General Availability release next month. Please share your feedback through the Developer Community so we can build a better product together.

InterSystems IRIS Data Platform 2021.1 is an extended maintenance (EM) release. Many important new capabilities and enhancements have been added in continuous delivery (CD) releases since 2020.1, the previous EM release.

GA releases are now available for the 2020.4 version of InterSystems IRIS, InterSystems IRIS for Health and InterSystems IRIS Studio.

InterSystems IRIS Data Platform 2020.4 makes it even easier to develop, deploy and manage augmented applications and business processes that bridge data and application silos.

Preview releases are now available for the 2020.4 version of InterSystems IRIS, IRIS for Health and IRIS Studio. As this is a preview release, we are eager to learn from your experiences with this new release ahead of its General Availability next month.

Three new sets of maintenance releases are now available: 

• Caché  2018.1.5, Ensemble 2018.1.5, and HSAP 2018.1.5
• InterSystems IRIS 2019.1.2, IRIS for Health 2019.1.2, and HealthShare Health Connect 2019.1.2
• InterSystems IRIS 2020.1.1, IRIS for Health 2020.1.1, and HealthShare Health Connect 2020.1.1

Installation kits and containers can be downloaded from the WRC Software Distribution site.

These are maintenance releases with many updates across a wide variety of areas.

March 23, 2021 – Alert: Potential Data Integrity Issue with Mirror Dejournaling

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can cause data inconsistency issues on non-primary mirror members in extremely rare circumstances. This defect affects all released versions of InterSystems products.

If the defect occurs, it happens silently during normal operation on a mirrored system. The result of this defect is that a mirror member fails to dejournal a subset of journal records, which then leads to data inconsistency across mirror members. This affects both failover and async members.

InterSystems has identified an issue with product distributions containing Certificate Authority certificates that expire at the end of 2020. This issue does not affect system operation or system security in any way, although it does generate alerts about expiring certificates in the cconsole.log or messages.log files. The messages may be ignored and there are instructions below to eliminate them.

The issue affects the following versions:

• Caché and Ensemble 2017.1, 2017.2, and 2018.

February 11, 2021 – Advisory: Incomplete Query Results with ‘ORDER BY <row ID field> DESC’ – HealthShare

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can cause incomplete query results.  This defect affects the platforms underlying HealthShare and HealthShare Health Connect:

• InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health 2019.1.0, 2019.1.1, and 2020.1.0

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can cause incomplete query results. This defect affects:

• InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health 2019.1.0, 2019.1.1, 2019.2, 2019.3, 2019.4, 2020.1.0, 2020.2, and 2020.3
• HealthShare Health Connect 2019.1.0, 2019.1.1, 2020.1.0
• HealthShare Products 2019.2, 2020.1 and 2020.2

(In HealthShare and HealthShare Health Connect, this defect only affects Personal Community with 64,000 patient proxies and possibly customer-built custom queries.

GA releases are now published for the 2020.3 version of InterSystems IRIS, IRIS for Health, with IntegratedML!

This is the first InterSystems IRIS release that includes IntegratedML, a new feature that brings "best of breed" machine learning to analysts and developers via simple and intuitive SQL syntax. Developers can now easily train and deploy powerful predictive models from within IRIS, right where their data lives. Documentation for IntegratedML is available as a User Guide. Virtual Summit 2020 features a number of sessions and an Experience Lab featuring IntegratedML, see overview here

InterSystems has corrected a defect that may cause Windows Telnet processes that are secured using SSL/TLS to hang indefinitely; this may then cause an instance to become unresponsive. This defect is present only on Windows platforms.

This defect affects:

• Caché and Ensemble 2018.1.4
• HealthShare Health Connect (HSAP) 15.032 built on C/E 2018.1.4
• InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health 2020.3

The problems caused by this defect can occur only when the instance is running Windows Telnet.

Once again I'm here to talk about the ObjectScript extension for Visual Studio Code, and this time we are excited to announce the release of version 1.0!

The community has come together in an unprecedented way to deliver this product with InterSystems, and its only fitting that a tool so critical to  developer productivity would be built with community testing, feedback and source code from the very beginning.

Most of the features in this release have been present since 0.9 and were announced earlier in this post. They have all been enhanced and polished.

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can cause a build-up of orphaned processes consuming system resources. In extreme cases, this can cause a system to become unresponsive.

This defect affects the following versions:

• Caché and Ensemble 2018.1.4
• InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health 2019.4, 2020.1, and 2020.2
• HealthShare Health Connect (HSAP) 15.032 built on Ensemble 2018.1.4
• HealthShare Health Connect 2020.1

No other InterSystems product versions are affected by this issue.  Specifically, earlier versions of Caché and Ensemble, Health Connect 2019.1 and 2019.1.
