Overview

This release introduces the FHIR Server 2025.10.0, delivering the latest standards compliance and performance improvements. It also enhances the Health Connect Cloud (HCC)upgrade process for greater reliability and adds new flexibility to Network Connect through prefix list support in VPN configurations.

New Features and Enhancements

InterSystems IRIS Adaptive Analytics version 2025.4.1 is now available from the InterSystems Software Distribution page.  This release includes AtScale 2025.4.1 and is compatible with the existing  Adaptive Analytics User-Defined Aggregate Function (UDAF) file - 2024.1.  New features included in AtSCale's 2025 releases include:

• Several MDX improvements to better handle null values and semi-additive measures like year-to-date.
• New parameters to enable setting the visibility of calculations and calculation groups in BI tools.

Overview 

This release focuses on upgrade reliability, security expansion, and support experience improvements across multiple InterSystems Cloud Services. With this version, all major offerings—including FHIR Server, InterSystems Data Fabric Studio (IDS), IDS with Supply Chain, and IRIS Managed Services—now support Advanced Security, providing a unified and enhanced security posture.

The 2025.1.2 and 2024.1.5 maintenance releases of InterSystems IRIS^® data platform, InterSystems IRIS^® for Health, and InterSystems Health Connect™ are now Generally Available (GA).

Using OpenEHR with InterSystems IRIS

Occasionally. we get questions about using OpenEHR with InterSystems.   Typically, these discussions focus on why and how an organization wants to implement OpenEHR in building applications. Here’s a brief guide:

• InterSystems is focused on interoperability:  we prioritize interoperability through standards such as HL7, IHE, DICOM, and ISO. In our experience, no single standard addresses all the needs of complex healthcare data.

• RHEL 10 support was added to IRIS 2025.1
• 2025.3 will use OpenSSL 3 across all operating systems  SUSE 15 sp6 will be the minimum OS for orgs using SUSE
• The minimum CPU standards are going up in 2025.3
• Older Windows Server operating systems will no longer be supported in 2025.3

How to get the software?

InterSystems is pleased to announce the General Availability (GA) of the 2025.2 release of InterSystems IRIS® data platform. This is a Continuous Delivery (CD) release. Please note that the GA versions of InterSystems IRIS® for Health and HealthShare® Health Connect™ 2025.2 are currently withheld due to mirroring limitations introduced by security updates (details below).

Release Highlights

This release introduces impactful enhancements across security, developer experience, operations, and interoperability. Notable new features include:

InterSystems is pleased to announce that version 3.0.5 of the VS Code - ObjectScript extension has been released. This release includes many bug fixes, as well as changes to the telemetry data we collect. Collecting more product usage data helps InterSystems identify and prioritize fixes and enhancements that will have the most positive impact for you, our users. Personally identifiable information (PII) will never be collected, and telemetry can be disabled using the telemetry.telemetryLevel setting. InterSystems IRIS 2025.2 introduces the IRISSECURITY database, the new home for security data. Unlike IRISSYS, the previous home for security data, IRISSECURITY can be encrypted, which secures your sensitive data at rest. In a future version, IRISSECURITY will be mirrorable.

This version also introduces the %SecurityAdministrator role for general security administration tasks. 

The changes described here affect both continuous delivery (CD) and extended maintenance (EM) release tracks. That is, starting with versions 2025.2 (CD, released on 23 July, 2025) and 2026.

Overview

This release introduces significant enhancements to security, analytics capabilities, and user experience, along with important operational improvements aimed at reducing downtime and improving reliability.

New Features and Enhancements

InterSystems is pleased to announce that IAM 3.10 has been released. IAM 3.10 is the first significant release in about 18 months, so it includes many significant new features that are not available in IAM 3.4, including:

• Added support for incremental config sync for hybrid mode deployments. Instead of sending the entire entity config to data planes on each config update, incremental config sync lets you send only the changed configuration to data planes.

InterSystems is pleased to announce that the following products are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10

• InterSystems IRIS Data Platform 2025.1.0.230.2
• InterSystems IRIS for Health 2025.1.0.230.2
• HealthShare Health Connect 2025.1.0.230.2

This release adds support for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 operating system.  RHEL 10 includes Linux kernel 6.12.0, security improvements, performance optimizations, and improved developer tools.

InterSystems has released new point updates to resolve a defect affecting the most recent prior versions of 2025.1.0, 2024.1.4, 2023.1.6, and 2022.1.

Summary

InterSystems Kubernetes Operator (IKO) 3.8 is now Generally Available.  IKO 3.8 adds new functionality along with numerous bug fixes and security updates.  Highlights include:

• Compute Groups allows you to deploy more than one type of compute node to handle different types of workloads in a single IrisCluster
• Consolidate Volumes – you can now choose to deploy with fewer volumes, such as consolidating data and WIJ on the same volume.

The Application Services team is pleased to announce the release of git-source-control version 2.4.0, introducing several new features to the open-source project.

For those unfamiliar, git-source-control is an embedded (or "server-side") source control tool for InterSystems products, installed through the InterSystems Package Manager.

Here are the key additions to the 2.4.0 release:

1. Basic Mode

Basic mode presents an overall great simplification to the git workflow, suitable for users with less knowledge of git as a source control tool.

We’re issuing a point release for InterSystems IRIS, IRIS for Health, and Health Connect 2025.1 — version 2025.1.0.225.1 — to address a critical interoperability issue affecting users who leverage System Default Setting enabled business hosts.

What’s the issue?
In certain configurations where a Business Host is marked as System Default Setting enabled, applying new settings via the UI may incorrectly indicate that changes were applied, even though the necessary restart did not occur.

When AMD published the x86-64 standard in 1999, little did they know they were inventing what would become the de-facto architecture for server CPUs.  But the CPUs of today aren’t the same as ones produced 20 years back – as they have extensions for everything from Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) to Hardware-Assisted Virtualization (VT-d).

InterSystems would like to take better advantage of these new extensions in upcoming versions of InterSystems IRIS.  While our compilers are smart enough to create optimized code for many situations, some optimizations can only be turned on by explicitly cutting off support for processors that do not have that instruction set. Additionally, we are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain older CPU models to test on.

The 2024.1.4 and 2023.1.6 maintenance releases of InterSystems IRIS^® data platform,InterSystems IRIS^® for Health^TM, and HealthShare^® Health Connect are now Generally Available (GA). These releases include the fixes for the following alert recently issued - Alert: SQL Queries Returning Wrong Results | InterSystems. DP-439207 - AIX JSON Unicode Parsing Issue

A bug has been identified in InterSystems IRIS 2024.3.0 on AIX instances that affects the parsing of JSON Unicode strings.

The 2025.1 release of InterSystems IRIS® data platform, InterSystems IRIS^® for Health, and HealthShare^® Health Connect^TMis now Generally Available (GA). This is an Extended Maintenance (EM) release.

Release Highlights

In this exciting release, users can expect several new features and enhancements, including:

1. Advanced Vector Search Capabilities
   • A new disk-based Approximate Nearest Neighbor (ANN) index significantly accelerates vector search queries, yielding sub-second responses across millions of vectors.

As of InterSystems IRIS® data platform version 2025.1, InterSystems is officially deprecating MultiValue and including it in the Deprecated and Discontinued Features list. While InterSystems will continue to support existing customers using MultiValue, it is not recommended for new applications.

What This Means for You:

• Continued Support: Support for MultiValue will still be available through the Worldwide Response Center (WRC) on a "best effort" basis, as is provided for releases older than our Minimum Supported Versions.

The first developer previews of InterSystems IRIS^® data platform,InterSystems IRIS^® for Health, and HealthShare^® Health Connect 2025.1 have been posted to the WRC developer preview site.  Containers can be found on our container registry and are tagged latest-preview.

These developer previews include the feature to migrate to IBM "Open XL C/C++ for AIX" 17.x compiler ensuring compatibility with future AIX builds as older compilers approach end-of-support. This migration focuses on the aixopenssl30 target, supporting SSL3 on AIX 7.2 and 7.3.

If you’re new to these updates, welcome!  The big news this quarter is the upcoming Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 release.  Read on for more on that.  This update aims to share recent changes as well as our best current knowledge on upcoming changes, but predicting the future is tricky business and this shouldn’t be considered a committed roadmap.

February 19, 2025 – Alert: SQL Queries Returning Wrong Results

InterSystems has corrected two issues that can cause a small number of SQL queries to return incorrect results. In addition, InterSystems has corrected an inconsistency in date/time datatype handling that may lead to different, unexpected – yet correct – results for existing applications that rely on the earlier, inconsistent behavior.

Most Language Server improvements are experienced via the ObjectScript extension UI, so you many not be aware of the many improvements in areas like Intellisense and hover overs that were released throughout 2024.
