Following on from JediSoft’s announcement of the general availability of JediSoft IRISsync®, I wanted to show how it can help prevent configuration drift and ensure your failover is always ready. 

When managing InterSystems IRIS production servers, even a minor configuration change can cause significant issues if it’s not replicated in your mirror environments. Often, these differences go unnoticed until your failover environment breaks.

This common, but critical, problem can lead to unexpected downtime at a vital moment and impact your business continuity.

We're excited to announce a new version release of the SQLTools VS Code extension. 

SQLTools connects VS Code users to the most commonly used databases using drivers, including InterSystems IRIS. With over 3.5 million downloads, it is helping users work with their data much more easily.

Version 0.28.2 is now available and includes:
- New CSV export format options.
- Improved connection quickpick and status bar item.
- Query error strings now wrap.
- Document settings that require a restart after changing.
- Resolve contradictory SSL settings in MySQL driver.

SQLTools is a Visual Studio Code (VS Code) Extension with over 3.5 million downloads that provides connections to many of the most used databases, including InterSystems IRIS, using drivers.
For developers new to VS Code, or those already familiar with it but are looking to streamline their connections to InterSystems IRIS, this tutorial will take you through installing the SQLTools extensions and the InterSystems IRIS drive. It then guides you on how to establish a connection to your instance of InterSystems IRIS and run a query.

George James Software is excited to share a new release of Deltanji source control, version 8.1. This new release introduces a Git Location Driver along with several other functionality and usability improvements. 

Highlights of this release include: 

• Git Location Driver, which enables Deltanji to integrate directly with Git repositories.
• Additional signing methods for Task Server II.
• DATA Component Driver proxy classes.
• Add or remove from Work Lists incrementally. 
• %ALL system definitions.
• New Installation defaults.

Version 1.94 now includes: 

• Find in Explorer - Quickly find files in the Explorer view with the improved Find control. As a consequence of this, the Explorer's Find widget on server-side folders requires v2.12.9-beta.4 or later with Proposed APIs enabled. Read more in this Developer Community post. 
• Source Control Graph - More filtering options and interactivity in the Source Control Graph.

• Profiles editor - Switch and manage your profiles from a single place.
• Django unit test support - Discover and run Django unit tests from the Test Explorer.
• IntelliSense on vscode.dev - Boost your JS & TS coding in vscode.dev with IntelliSense.
• Notebook diff viewer - Efficiently review changes in notebooks by collapsing unchanged cells.
• Resize columns via the keyboard - Resizing table columns in VS Code more accessible via keyboard.

Version 1.92 includes: 

• Default browser - Configure which browser to use for opening links in VS Code.
• Revert PRs - Easily create a revert PR for a merged PR.
• Extension updates - More easily configure auto updating of extensions.
• Override profiles - Override an existing profile with the Profiles Editor.
• Paste files in CSS - Quickly add CSS file references with paste or drag and drop.
• Move Panel to top - Position the Panel section at the top of the workbench.

Users can now benefit from the VS Code Quick Diff feature when using the ObjectScript extension. To use this feature just click on the gutter decorations to reveal an inline diff experience, where you can contribute contextual commands. You just need to provide VS Code with the original contes of any given file.

Strap on this jetpack to boost your developer experience in Visual Studio Code.

DX Jetpack for VS Code was my entry for the 2023 Developer Tools Contest, where it achieved 2nd place in the Experts vote and 5th place in the Community vote. It is an extension pack for VS Code, bundling three entirely new extensions created by me, plus a couple that we at George James Software published previously.
