There are many good MUMPS developers who want to learn Caché Objects but do not know how to start.

At the same time, InterSystems is pushing the envelope of technology with a new development platform

such as Atelier along with Eclipse.

It is my aim in this book to help those developers bridge the gap into Caché Objects at the same time learn

Atelier as well.

I'd like to announce the release of something really rather interesting - revolutionary in fact.  That may sound like hyperbole, but I don't think you'll have seen anything quite like this, or even thought it possible!

We've pushed out a new JavaScript/Node.js module named glsdb which you can read all about here in detail:

However, for the purposes of this announcement here, I just want to focus on one part of glsdb: its APIs that abstract IRIS (or Cache) Classes as equivalent JavaScript Objects.

The InterSystems platforms have always offered dynamic documentation of the packages and classes in a namespace, a feature known informally as Documatic. But what if you need to publish this class reference information on a website without requiring the site to be connected to an IRIS server containing the actual classes?

For my entry to the December 2024 Developer Community “Bringing Ideas to Reality” contest I decided to implement the idea of a generator that produces a static set of class reference pages

This is available on github and wairing for approval on the Open Exchange.

It  allows you to

• "Serialize" any class instance that extends from the adapter to a DynamicObject.
• "Deserialize" a DynamicObject to a class instance that extends the adapter.
• References to other classes can be followed recursively and serialized.
