Docker is a software technology providing containers, promoted by the company Docker, Inc. Docker provides an additional layer of abstraction and automation of operating-system-level virtualization on Windows and Linux.

Question Chris Fine · Mar 8, 2018

hi, new here, and new to cache and deepsee.

i've been trying to setup a copy of our production server so we can use it for testing/development.

i did a full backup. moved it to the new server. ran the DBREST command. got it to restore but seems like permissions get all messed up. and it just generates a bunch of errors.

is there an easier/better way of doing this?

Hi:

I'm using Docker and I don't get how you create new folders in the container.

I'm using Docker on Windows running the iris health community.

I want to create 2 folders on the instance and be adding files to it; I must be missing something as i can't see how this gets easily managed?

May retry just downloading the main community HS edition not through docker but could how to amend the error

"Too many Cores (16) for InterSystems IRIS Community License." for the main installation not through docker- docker has that workaround but not seen one for a non docker installation?

Hello all,

I am having some issues creating a docker image with a fresh cache installation. The error that I am getting right now is that gzip is required for a cache installation, but was not found in my system. Even though, this is shown as installed in the base centos 7 image. My host machine is Windows 10 using the latest docker version.

Here is my dockerfile, its simple:

FROM centos:latest

RUN yum update -y && yum -y upgrade

COPY ./cache-2017.1.3.317.0.18571-lnxrhx64.tar.gz .

RUN tar -zxf cache-2017.1.3.317.0.18571-lnxrhx64.tar.

Dear team,

I am trying to experiment the Docker container in our development environment. I have successfully build an image and running the container. When I access the CSP portal home page ( http://<host-ip>:57772/csp/sys/%25CSP.Portal.Home.zen?$NAMESPACE=%25SYS), I am getting the following error:

Caché Server Pages Version 2017.1.1.111.0.17521

Server Availability Error
Server is currently unavailable

I logged in to the running container (docker exec -it <container-id> sh), issued the command, 'ccontrol list' where the state says 'warn'.

Question Andrew Harris · Dec 8, 2016

How suitable is Docker for standalone deployment of an Ensemble version and Ensemble application together?

The context is deployment by an application partner of an integration application and the supporting Ensemble version as a single package (single file ideally), to multiple environments and to multiple customer sites.

I don't have experience with Ensemble on Docker so I'm wondering what gaps and pitfalls may exist.

I follow the instruction on docker site.
I have next troubles:

 1. After changing password fom "SYS" to my pass I see on screen non removable "USER>". Standart commands "exit" and "quit" are not worked. Next actions is possible only in new terminal window.
 2. I need some extra tool in container. Where I try install (by example "apt-get install mc") I get "E: Package 'mc' has no installation candidate". I don't understand why standart ubuntu package manager do not work in Iris container.

Hi folks,

how do people run iris-community edition nowadays? It seems there are some incantations needed that are not documented here: https://hub.docker.com/_/intersystems-iris-data-platform/plans/222f869e-567c-4928-b572-eb6a29706fbd?tab=instructions

When I follow these, I am only getting an error:

(tasks) ⚙ fhaupt@lamia  ~/projects/iris  docker run --name iris --rm -p 9091:51773 -p 9092:52773 --volume /Users/fhaupt/projects/iris/external:/durable --env ISC_DATA_DIRECTORY=/durable/iris store/intersystems/iris-community:2019.4.0.379.0

Question Duncan Priest · Aug 9, 2019

Hi

I've had a play with the Docker image for IRIS Community Edition, but was disappointed to find that it seems to lack any of the HL7 v2 features that I'm familiar with in Ensemble/HealthShare. Is there another image with these features enabled (IRIS for Health Community Edition perhaps?) or is there any plan to make such a Docker image available?

We are experience this with our own web app and even the demo/template here: intersystems-community/iris-fullstack-template: This template shows you how to build, test and deploy a simple full-stack application using InterSystems IRIS REST API (github.com)

When changes are made to CSS or HTML files, we can see the changes are saved to file in the Docker container by visiting the command line. However, after refreshing, clearing cache, etc. the changes don't appear on the web application in the browser. Viewing the source css in the browser, we see it's the old file.

Question Joost Platenburg · Dec 7, 2021

Good day,

I'm trying to get IRIS to run on a new MacBook with a Apple M1 Pro chip. Local installs did not run, so I switched to docker containers. When I execute following command "docker run --detach --publish 52773:52773 --volume /Users/joost/Docker/iris/data/dur:/dur --env ISC_DATA_DIRECTORY=/dur/iconfig --name iris21 --init store/intersystems/iris-community:2021.1.0.215.0" an image is pulled and a container is created but the IRIS instance does not run. The log gives me the following output:

[WARN tini (8)] Tini is not running as PID 1 and isn't registered as a child subreaper.

Question Kari Vatjus-Anttila · Feb 25, 2022

Hello,

The title says it all. I’m building an IRIS image with docker-compose using a separate Dockerfile. Pretty straightforward procedure: I import a Installer script inside the container containing a Installer Manifest I defined. Within the manifest, I create a namespace with code and data databases in separate locations. My intention is to keep the code database inside the container, so whenever I build the container, the imported code is replaced. The data, however, should be persistent.

Question Mads Lien · May 8, 2019

Hi

I am working with a Caché system with a Python binding and big datasets in health care. I am using the Python library Pandas and Jupyter notebook for data manipulation and often special modules for different projects, including different versions of Python. To keep the environments separated, I have been testing Docker, but I am at loss on how to install the Python binding. Has anyone any experience with this? Or better yet, a Docker image that has the binding installed?

I am also considering that Docker might not be the suitable for this situation and I am grateful for any thoughts on this.

Question Dmitry Maslennikov · Jul 20, 2018

Just got the new beta version of Docker, with depreciation warning of AUFS. It's so bad news when InterSystems does not support used by default storage driver overlay2. Recently I thought to play with Google Kubernetes Engine, and realized that I can't work with InterSystems products there due to incompatibility with Storage Driver. Maybe it's already time to think about support?

Question Ignacio Valdes · Dec 1, 2019

I want to add ports 9100 and 9101 in addition to 52773. I read on docker container documentation that this is not possible on a already ran image. Currently it starts the google cloud IRIS health container automatically without me able to specify the additional ports. How can I add ports to Google cloud IRIS Health container?

Hi folks,

I started to play with docker and InterSystems products, it's amazing, but I got the error when try to load the IAM-0.34-1-1.tar.gz image to docker:

[root@CONF-RHEL-DOCKER-IRIS-API admconf]# docker load -i IAM-0.34-1-1.tar.gz
open /var/lib/docker/tmp/docker-import-547148651/IAM/json: no such file or directory

Bellow docker and docker-compose version:

[root@CONF-RHEL-DOCKER-IRIS-API admconf]# docker --version
Docker version 19.03.2, build 6a30dfc

[root@CONF-RHEL-DOCKER-IRIS-API admconf]# docker-compose --version

Question Joyce Zhang · Sep 24, 2018

I followed the First Look instructions and tried to run a Docker container with the below command:

> docker run --name iris --detach --publish 52773:52773 --volume /Users/docker:/external --env ICM_SENTINEL_DIR=/external iris:latest --key /external/iris.key --before "/usr/irissys/dev/Cloud/ICM/changePassword.sh /external/password.txt"

It returned with a container ID and an error message:

docker: Error response from daemon: OCI runtime create failed: container_linux.go:348: starting container process caused "exec: \"/iris-main\": permission denied": unknown.
