InterSystems IRIS for Health  2019.2  is the first CD (continuous delivery) release of IRIS for Health.  It has many new capabilities including:

• enhancements to FHIR STU3 support
• additional IHE profiles
• a new JMS (java message service) connector
• Addition of the IRIS Native API for Python and Node.js and relational access for Node.

• Performance and scalability. The release features new performance improvements for parallel queries and data ingestion resulting in more than 50 percent performance improvement, and expanded sharding support with simpler rebalancing across nodes.
• Expanded cloud support.

IRIS for Health 2019.1 provides the following new capabilities:

• Interoperability. The latest release further expands the product’s schema, transformation, routing, and testing capabilities, supporting integration and service aggregation as a key enabler of digital transformation initiatives.

Starting with 2017.1, InterSystems is adding Ubuntu (64-bit) as a third linux server platform. Prior to 2017.1 Ubuntu was already available as a development platform and customers could use InterSystems distributions build for SUSE to run on Ubuntu. As a result there are a few license key implications for 64-bit linux versions starting with Caché and Ensemble 2017.

Caché  2018.1.2 and Ensemble 2018.1.2 maintenance releases are now available.

This release adds support for Ubuntu 18.04 and Windows Server 2019.1 operating systems. You can see the details of all supported platforms inthis Supported Platforms document.

March 14, 2019 – Alert: Data Integrity Issue with Mirror Database Catchup

InterSystems has corrected a defect in our mirroring technology that can result in inconsistency between mirrored databases. This defect exists for currently released Caché and Ensemble versions beginning with 2017.2 and for InterSystems IRIS Data Platform version 2018.1.

When the issue occurs, some journal updates are not applied to a mirrored database on the backup mirror member or an async member that is being caught up.

InterSystems is currently verifying InterSystems IRIS 2019.1 with Windows Server 2019. This work is scheduled to complete by the end of January  2019. In the second half of this month InterSystems will add Caché/Ensemble 2018.1.2 to be verified on this platform.

As we get closer to the completion of those tasks, I will update this post with information on release dates, and which products and version will support Windows Server 2019.

InterSystems has corrected a defect that impacts the use of X.509 private keys stored in Caché, Ensemble, and Health Connect, but only in 2018.1.1, on any platform.

This defect does not affect new installations of 2018.1.1, only upgrades to that version. It affects WS-Security, not SSL/TLS Configurations.

If your environment uses X.509 credentials with private keys and has been upgraded to 2018.1.1, some functions and queries that use the private keys will fail. To correct this problem, please contact the Worldwide Response Center (WRC) and request the utility developed to address the issue.

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can result in data integrity problems in environments that use InterSystems mirroring in conjunction with parallel dejournaling. This problem exists for currently released Caché and Ensemble versions beginning with 2017.2 and for InterSystems IRIS Data Platform version 2018.1.

Ensuring that you are protected from this issue

Your system is at risk only if you have a mirroring environment that supports parallel dejournaling for mirrored database catchup.

InterSystems has completed the verification process for OpenJDK 8.

Customers now have the option to either use the Oracle JDK, or the OpenJDK with all InterSystems products and versions that support Java 8.
 
Support for future versions will continue to be supported on both of these Java Development Kits.

InterSystems is adopting a new approach to releasing InterSystems IRIS.  This blog explains the new release model and what customers should expect to see.  We laid this out at Global Summit at the end of the InterSystems IRIS roadmap session  and have received a lot of positive feedback from customers.

With this new model we offer two release streams:

1) An annual traditional release that we call EM (for Extended Maintenance)

2) A quarterly release that is tagged CD (for Continuous Delivery) and will be available only in a container format.

The Atelier 1.3 stable release update site (https://atelier.artifactoryonline.com/atelier/updates/stable/1.3/) has been updated to 1.3.117.

For the best upgrade experience, InterSystems suggests that you install Eclipse Photon fresh before installing Atelier 1.3.

October 12, 2018 – Advisory: VMWare vSphere and Data Integrity

Clients running vSphere 5.5 or later should review a very important article that VMware published on October 9, 2018.  The article describes the possibility of file system and database corruption, which can lead to outages and possible data loss.  We have confirmed that this has caused data integrity problems for InterSystems clients. Therefore, we encourage you to act on this as soon as possible.

October 12, 2018 – Alert: Ordering of XML Sibling Elements

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can cause a reordering of sibling elements in an XML document. This issue is limited to sibling elements that are represented in the database as objects in a relationship.

This problem exists on all platforms for the following products:

• InterSystems IRIS Data Platform 2018.1.0 and above
• InterSystems IRIS for Health 2018.1.2
• Caché and Ensemble 2017.2.0 and above
• Health Connect/HSAP based on Caché/Ensemble 2017.2.

June 25, 2018 – Alert: Outer Join Query Results

InterSystems has corrected two defects that can cause SQL outer joins to return incorrect results. These defects can also impact DeepSee in Caché and Ensemble, as well as InterSystems Business Intelligence in InterSystems IRIS; in these cases, building and synchronizing some analytic models may result in build errors.

These issues exist on all platforms for the following released InterSystems Data Platform products:

• InterSystems IRIS Data Platform 2018.1.1
• Caché and Ensemble 2017.2.0 and 2017.2.1
• HealthShare Health Connect 15.03 on Ensemble 2017.2.0.
