Tips & Tricks

Hi Dev Community,

My team is currently working on a project where we need to post pdf documents to a 3rd party REST API.

The API specifies a field in the JSON request message to contain the 'physical content' of the file as an array of bytes, example of the JSON request as follows - data truncated for readability purposes:

Here is a snippet that I learned yesterday

You can define an index on a collection property but when I tried to use it, I failed. I was using

     Select ….. where …. :xx %INLIST collproperty

But this will not use an index, but the equivalent syntax

     SELECT .. WHERE ... FOR SOME %ELEMENT(collproperty) (%VALUE=:xx)

will use the index

Is there a way to omit or skip rollback of some data changes during a transaction rollback? Maybe some sort of "autonomous transaction"?

The issue is with error logging in transaction. For example we may have in nested calls the following structure:
TS
<some code>
<error happens>
TRO 1
<error log to database>

but if this code is in another transaction, and that rolls back we lose error data.

I have a case where I have a SIU message that has multiple RGSgrp's. I am writting the first RGSgrp fine, but when it comes to the additional RGSgrp's, I want the ability to look at the Target SIU message and see if the value exists.  If the AIG.3 already exists in the Target message I want to stop the looping and not write out the data.

Can anyone suggest a way to do this? Is there a way in a DTL to build a list or temp lookup table to see if something exists?

Thanks

Hi All

I'm looking for some field experiences, lessons learned, or actual deployed solutions to the problem of replicating non-CACHE.DAT data in a mirrored Cache environment.

Environment:

  • Operating System is IBM AIX
  • Hardware is IBM Power w/ virtualised storage
  • Cache 2017.1
  • 2x Production mirror members
  • 1x DR mirror member

There are a number of different data types that we're looking at mirroring, and a number of identified solutions.  The two main types of data to be mirrored outside of Cache mirroring are:

Hello,

I am interested in working with a third-party API in my instance of the Community Portal.  I was curious as to how you all work with third-party apis.  Do you typically connect directly from within a ZEN Mojo Page or do you route the request through an operation in the management portal?  Are there any sort of best practices I should be aware of?

Thanks,

Bob

Suppose I have an image and need to convert that image into a PDF for inclusion in an HL7.

I know that Zen Reports can display an image in a PDF but I do not want to view the image in a web page. I just need to convert the image to PDF in a Process and then include that PDF in an HL7. The  workflow would be like this:

Get image -> Convert image into PDF -> Include PDF in HL7 OBX.

I know how to do the last part to include PDF in HL7 OBX. Just need ideas on the first part.

I realize that Cache Studio is the standard method to edit routines.  However, some clients make it difficult to access their server that supports Studio.  Is there an editor that can be run from the programmer prompt that allows simple WYSIWYG editing of routines?  I know there is a %Routine class that you can use to do command-line editing, but I am looking for a full screen editor.

What was the standard in OpenVMS Cache before there was Cache Studio?

Thanks!
Bryan

Hi,

is there a way to copy namespace mappings from another namespace to a new namespace programmatically with a command?

When using management portal there is an option to choose an existing namespace to copy the mappings from, I'm basically looking for the equivalent from command line / COS.

Thanks

Martin
