#Development Environment

Most of projects on Caché, obviously, written not only in Cache ObjectScript, and should contain sources in other languages. Such as js or css for web-projects or any others. And it would be pretty good, if I could see all of files in one project, and possible to edit all of them. How to be in this case ?

And I think it is not a good idea, to place all project's sources in one root folder. Our project contains over 3 thousands classes and routines, and it is too difficult to find anything in such folder. Is not a good for it to use Java-way, and place every package in subfolder ?

I need to create a standards document for new developers who are coming to Cache from other backgrounds.

Does anyone have an in-house document they could share with me?

I'm currently working with a developer to add IRIS/Caché functionality to his HL7 analysis tool that would allow its users to extract messages directly from the Ensemble message store. IRIS for Health Community Edition has been a great aid in debugging this, but I keep banging into the 5 connection license limit with Studio, the Management Portal, an IRIS terminal session and a client database connection using either ODBC or ADO.NET.

Due to a new project I'm getting involved inside %Installer stuff deeper than ever I'd be happy to. Most of it was pretty easy to get, thanks to documentation, articles and SAMPLES example, while I can't dig good solution for one problem. I'm trying to import and compile some classes, willing to ignore two types of errors: 5202 (NothingToCompile) and 5373 (PredecessorClassDoesNotExist - a normal case when SNMP sampling class is compiled for the 1st time, before it was registered).

Currently when class is saved in Atelier it is automatically saved on disk and on server (if there is an active connection).

Is there any way to save file with class or routine just on disk, but not on server?

I'm in the process of trying to convert my team to a Git-based workflow for source code version management (we use Ensemble and HealthShare, but build a lot of customizations on top). We are having a hard time working with Atelier in this regard for a few reasons:

• Atelier always wants to sync the local files with the Cache server files, so switching between git branches causes all sorts of mayhem with the synchronization. Creating new files locally leads to a similar problem.

In Atelier when resolving conflicts with the server the screen shows the Local copy and Server copy and the differences, but depending on where the difference is you cannot tell what what the document is, you need to scroll to the top to see what it is before deciding what to do.  It should indicate the class or routine name beside "Conflicting Server documents"

Are there any plans to translate Atelier to other languages (e.g. Russian) ?

How one can understand the classnames of request and response messages of a given operation?

E.g. when I build the data transformation, how do I know which message will come to the operation?

If you've got more than one developer on a project, do you each work in your own namespace? Or do you all use a common namespace?

Through my work at George James Software I have encountered many different Caché and Ensemble development setups. At risk of over-generalizing, the older and more established users of InterSystems technologies seem more likely to have all their developers working in a common namespace, whereas the newer 'converts' tend to favour giving each developer their own namespace.

I am trying to debug a class on Atelier and it is not stopping at the defined breakpoint.

Totally new to IRIS and Cache.

Trying to evaluate it and work out how we could use it.

As a standard application database. Object or relational etc. does not matter. 

Issue is ObjectScript.

So:

1) Can we develop, maintain and use an IRIS database and never use ObjectScript i.e. use only Java, Python, C++ interfaces etc. (exactly which one does not matter)? Would that make designing and using the IRIS database more prone to inefficiency and error?

2) Can we import an existing Cache database into IRIS and convert its ObjectScript code into Java, Python whatever?

 My Atelier (1.0.116) has a Tools menu with an Add-Ins option and a "Soap Wizard" (sic) submenu.

Is there any information available to us yet about how we can add our own add-ins of this kind?

I'm really interested in using Atelier for its source control ability, and I have found a fair bit of info when it comes to starting a new project and then pushing that project to a chosen source control system.

However, my environment has a lot of existing code which was developed within Studio and Ensemble, and placing entire namespaces within a single project file feels wrong.

Is there a magical way I can point Atelier at my environment and it will split everything up into individual projects based on naming conventions, or am I faced with the daunting task of splitting it all up?

Is there a way to return to where you were after using the Open Declaration F3?  In studio you could use ctrl-shift-G to open the declaration and ctrl-alt-G to return.

Just today updated Atelier to the latest Beta release.Getting the following error in Eclipse:
Plug-in com.intersys.eclipse.legacy.extension was unable to load class com.intersys.eclipse.legacy.extension.Startup.

Unable to open Atelier perspective.

Does anybody else get this issue, how to go back to previous version?

Has anyone managed to get a dark theme (Like Darcula or Obsidian) working on the Atelier plugin. The Eclipse themes apply to everything in the IDE except the editor window, so it kind of defeats the purpose. I've tried searching for one but so far no luck. I know you can set each colour individually in the settings but I'd like a single config I can load if possible.

Suppose I want to create an Eclipse plugin designed to be added to Atelier, and my plugin needs to perform some processing on the server that the current Atelier project is configured to connect to.

Is there a way I can use the connection credentials that have already been entered by the user? I don't really want to make them enter these again into my own plugin.

I am having trouble configuring the environment in eclipse have download eclipse  for java script and web developers  followed the video but could not connect to the server I have my Apache server 7.0 added to the java environment and I can start and stop the server through eclipse IDE but when I fire atelier and add server I get the above error any help please .This is the first time I am trying to use the plug in through eclipse .

I created with Studio a persistent class with the following field and index:

Index IDXBASDescriptionDemande On (DescriptionDemande) As %iFind.Index.Basic(INDEXOPTION = 1, LANGUAGE = "fr", LOWER = 1);

INDEXOPTION is set to 1 for activating stemming. I'm indexing french  documents. I have set lower to 1 because I want to do non case sensitive search.

I have a Caché project with some HTML files in a CSP folder.

Using Atelier when I access "Server Explorer" and execute the option "Copy to Project" to my local project I have this error:

Has anyone had this same problem? Any solution?

I just installed Atelier, but when I tried to start it, I got the error "Java was started but returned exit code = 13". What's the issue here? How can I fix it?

As I know Atelier sources already on github, but I think in private repository. May you say when this project will be opened, and how about if I want to contibute to this project?

I would like to update Atelier from version 1.0.262 to the 1.3 one. So I clicked on Help --> Check for updates, and I get these first error messages:

"No updates were found in available software sites."

"Some sites could not be found. See the error log for more detail." etc. cf picture below talking about Proxy Authentication.

Is there any official answer to this question: Does Atelier only support Unicode servers?

Hello,

I'm trying to connect to a Caché server from Atelier; the Caché server is 2015.x.

The address and port I'm trying to connect to is the SQL gateway server; and I get, each time, an "unexpected end of file from server".

Note that unfortunately, for the moment, I connect as _system... And the Caché install has the default privileges.

What am I doing wrong?
