Problem with Getting Started >>> Basic Tutorial for Atelier

I am trying to go through the "Simple Project" in Atelier Workbench User Guide >>> Getting started >>> Basic tutorial.

Under "Using the popup" it says:

Using the popup

Now that we have our project we will create a folder. We will create our folder using the Project Explorer view's popup menu.

  1. Activate the Project Explorer view and select the project 'JaneQUser' (the first project we created in the Project Explorer view). From the view's popup menu choose New > Folder.
  2. In the New Folder wizard, your project name appears by default in the Enter or select the parent folder field. This is because we chose to create the new folder from your project's context menu.
  3. In the Folder name field, type a unique name for your new folder, e.g. "JanesFolder". Depending on the platform you are running on, some characters will not be allowed (for example, "Jane's Folder?").

In the highlighted yellow instructions I am getting lost on.

The view's popup menu? I see no such things.

This is important because the New Folder is the folder than hold my projects.

I cannot find anywhere else that talks about creating a folder.

Anyone else have this problem?

I wish to add, I have seen a number of difference between the current version of Atelier and what is in the documentation.

Documentation loses it value when not kept up-to-date with the product, this is especially true with a product like Atelier, which is changing often. May I encourage whoever is suppose to keep the documentation up-to-date to get on with it?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your question.

Atelier is based on the Eclipse development environment. The “Workbench User Guide” is documentation provided by Eclipse that provides basic information about using Eclipse. It is potentially useful to users of Atelier, but it is not specific to Atelier, and is not maintained by InterSystems. You may find that the “Getting Started” section of the “InterSystems Atelier User Guide” provides more Atelier-specific information.

You’ll find the latest documentation at this link:  http://docs.intersystems.com/atelier/latest/index.jsp. If you have downloaded and installed Atelier, you might want to use the documentation installed locally with the product. From the Atelier main menu, select Help > Help Contents. This will guarantee that you have all documentation improvements as of the build you have installed.

You might also want to check out the Atelier video playlist on YouTube. There are several videos there to help new users get started, with more in the pipeline.

Please don’t hesitate to return to the Developer Community with any further questions you have.
