Thanks, Jeff; that's a good basic guideline. I'll try that out on my system to see how it works. It probably needs more fleshing out.

One issue is that so much code out there is full of delimited lists, it gets to be a challenge to integrate the $LIST utilities into the existing code. It's easy for new code, but existing code still remains an issue.  Of course.
