Hi Developers!

Sometimes we need to deal with classes/tables where the primary key and the IdKey are something that is maintained by yourself.

What is the proper way to generate a new ID in case where ID is a %BigInt?

Property id As %Library.BigInt

Are there any system methods to provide it?

There is data already imported via SQL, so there is no last ID stored in ^myclassD, so I cannot do $I(^myclassD).

Thinking of:

set newid=$O(^myclassD(""),-1),newid=$I(newid)

What do you think?

Hi developers!

In a method I need to return a result as a dynamic object aka JSON Object. And here is my logic:

Classmethod Planets() as %DynamicObject {

 set val1="Jupiter"
 set val2="Mars"
// this doesn't work! cannot compile
 return {"value1":val1, "value2":val2}

}

So I need to do the following:

Hello everyone!
I am receiving a HTTP multipart/form-data request into my rest service.
How can I read the values for each Key in the form?
The key "Profile" is sent to my service as a String data type.
The code I have below does not seem to work, where I try to read the Key profile in the form.

I appreciate all the help I can get! :)

I have a situation where I have a handful of classes which I need to copy to another Namespace (which uses a different RoutineDB) on the same instance, load it and compile it.

Can anyone help me come up with a command that will do this quickly and easily?   Perhaps something with extended reference?

This is somewhat time sensitive so thank you in advance for your ideas!

Hey everyone.

I was wondering if anyone had come across a way of reformatting ObjectScript within VSCode.

I have the various Intersystems Extensions installed (InterSystems Language Pack,  InterSystems ObjectScript,  InterSystems ObjectScript Extension Pack,  InterSystems Server Manager) but a formatter does not seem to be something included within this variety of extensions.

Hi folks!

How can I change the production setting programmatically?

I have a production that is a solution that uses some api-keys, which are the parameters of Business Operations but of course cannot be hard-coded into the source code.

E.g. here is the example of such a production that runs a connection of Telegram and ChatGPT.

And it can be installed as:

zpm "install telegram-gpt"

But now one needs to setup the key manually before using the production, having the following setting:

I'd like to set up it programmatically so one could install it as:

zpm "install telegram-gpt -D Token=sometoken"

How can I make it work?

Question Evgeny Shvarov · Apr 7, 2025

Hi devs!

Suppose I have an instance of a persistent class:

Set person = ##class(dc.Sample.Person).%OpenId(1)

Class is an ancestor of %JSON.Adapter.

How can I convert it to dynamic object with the properties that person.%JSONExport() provides?

{"Name":"Elon Mask","Title":"Associate Accountant","Company":"InterSystems","Phone":"799-933-5569","DOB":"1926-12-11"}

Couldn't find a right method.

set dynObj = ##class(%ZEN.Auxiliary.altJSONProvider).%ObjectToAET(person) works, but adds id and classname, which I don't want to be added:

zw dynObj
dynObj={"_class":"dc.Sample.

Having been inspired with Shared code execution speed question/discussion, I dare to ask another one which is annoying me and my colleagues for several weeks.

We have a routine called Lib that comprises 200 $$-functions of 1500 code lines total. It was noticed that after calling _any_ function of another rather big routine (1900 functions, 32000 lines) the next call of $$someFunction^Lib(x) is getting 10-20% slower than previous call of the same function.

Hello,

I want to access the HL7 Router settings from within the HL7 rule. Goal is to create a New class by extending  "EnsLib.HL7.MsgRouter.RoutingEngine".

Then create a PARAMETER ProcessMessage which can be set to an integer value for the HL7 Router.

Create a Rule class and based on the value of this setting ProcessMessage
process/not process the messages.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how to export projects via VSC?

I opened the project through the "InterSystems Tools" plugin (command is "Edit Code in Project") and I can correctly work on it.

However, when I try using the "ObjectScript" plugin to export the project (right click on the project -> "Export Project Contents")

This message appears and it is not possible to export the project:

I've tried also to open a new window, then a folder and finally the project, but nothing changes.

This is an example of my workspace:

Anyone knows how to do it?

Thank you!

When an object is created in memory, the object reference (OREF) is represented as a string value when displayed with the Write command:

HICG>Set pat=##class(JD.Sample.patient).%OpenId(70)
HICG>Write pat
1@JD.Sample.patient ; "stringified" OREF
HICG>Zwrite pat
pat=1@JD.Sample.patient  ; <OREF>

Question Corentin Blondeau · Jul 3, 2025

Hello
I want to get the property of a class, sorted by order in storage.

I know we can use

        Set definition = ##class(%Dictionary.ClassDefinition).%OpenId(className)
        Set listProperty = definition.Properties
        For ii = 1:1:listProperty.Count(){
                    write listProperty.GetAt(ii).Name

But using GetAt sorts the results alphabetically.

Example :

Class Test.class Extends (%SerialObject, %XML.Adaptor, %JSON.Adaptor)
{

    Property tiers As %String;
    Property journal As %String;
}

listProperty.GetAt(1).Name = "journal" and listProperty.GetAt(2).

I am familiar with $TEXT which can get you any line in the current routine provided you know the offset. For example, $T(+1) will get you the first line of the current routine at the run time. In the same vein, how do I reference the current line number/offset at the run time? Something like $T(+$CURRENTLINENUMBER) where $CURRENTLINENUMBER is not yet known to me function. The sample below would write 3 as the line number.

RTNNAME
 S A=1
W $CURRENTLINENUMBER

I know this problem something to do with sort and collation and string comparison vs numeric only strings, but I can't fathom out the details of it.

I have the following global, where all values are suffixed with a space, I believe the intention is to prevent empty strings and force string comparisons rather than numeric. Which is fine when searching for an exact match, so searching for "ABC" internally looks for "ABC ", or "800999" looks for "800999 ". However one function tries to search for strings containing, (specifically beginning with), a partial code.

We are currently using different iterations of Ens.Director.EnableConfig items to start/stop objects within the Interoperability Namespace. We are looking for ways to minimize our downtime as we move from AIX to a new section of our Network and Red Hat Servers.

Besides using Ens.Director.EnableConfig item and waiting for a response, or just disabling the objects through the Namespace class file, is there a quicker way to stop Services and Operations to ensure the TCP disconnect is sent to those endpoints so we can move the networking rules to ensure they point to new servers?

How do we trigger a BPL Business Process on a time schedule?

We are building a production that takes a steady stream of (HL7) lab results messages, processes them and stores them in a temporary database table. At scheduled points during the day (eg 0800, 1300, 1600) the database is queried and messages sent on to the downstream system. Aiming that the Processes to be implemented in BPL if possible - but we are having trouble triggering code in a BPL as a scheduled job.

Question Timothy Leavitt · Sep 12, 2023

It's a feature of ObjectScript (perhaps widely known, perhaps not) that if you open the same object ID multiple times, you end up with the same OREF. For example:

USER>set obj1 = ##class(Sample.Person).%OpenId(1)

USER>set obj2 = ##class(Sample.Person).%OpenId(1)

USER>w obj1,!,obj2
1@Sample.Person
1@Sample.Person

Generally speaking, this is an important feature - you won't end up accidentally modifying the same record via multiple paths and losing some of the changes.

Can anyone point me to the docs that show how to add automatic class documentation for the arguments used in a method call?   I can auto document the class, methods, properties etc. with the "///" but can't figure out how to get the nice argument documentation for the arguments used when calling a method.

Thanks in advance

Question Stefan Cronje · Jan 22, 2023

Hi all,

I am trying to use some process private variables (percent variables) in Triggers.

I am referring to values from $System.Process, like the ClientIPAddress and CSPSessionID.
These do to not contain values and I suspect it is bacause of scope. I also checked, and the %session variable is not available if the change originated from a CSP request.
I know that in triggers the scope of the variables are to be kept local, that is why NEW is to be used.

Is there a way to access the Process Private Variables in Triggers or get $System.Process to return the correct values?

Thanks.
