InterSystems Announces General Availability of InterSystems IRIS, InterSystems IRIS for Health, and HealthShare Health Connect 2026.1

The 2026.1 release of InterSystems IRIS® data platform, InterSystems IRIS® for HealthTM, and HealthShare® Health Connect is now Generally Available (GA). This is an Extended Maintenance (EM) release.

Release Highlights:

  • Database Scalability Enhancements: Historical database size limits have been removed, enabling seamless growth beyond prior size constraints with no data conversion required. Additional low-level performance improvements further optimize large-scale operations.
  • Table Partitioning: Splits table and associated index data based on a user-defined logical key, such that it can be easily mapped across databases. This enables storage tiering, improves query performance, and operational efficiency for very large tables. This capability is an experimental feature with an Early Access Program to subscribe to updates and relay your feedback.
  • Interoperability UX Improvements: This update features the new BPL editor, additional improvements to production configuration, and the DTL Editor, which includes the AI-assisted DTL Explain. To learn more, see the InterSystems Learning Center. For existing customers, these capabilities remain available as opt-in. On the integration side, this release introduces a Mirth migration tool to accelerate replacement and modernization of legacy integration engines.
  • FHIR Server Authorization, Bulk Data, and Management Updates: Significant expansion of FHIR capabilities, including fine-grained OAuth scope enforcement and result filtering, enabling more precise data access control. Enhancements to Bulk FHIR (JWT auth, scheduled exports from EHRs) and faster server/package management.
  • Integrated AI and Developer Productivity Enhancements: Expands embedded AI capabilities with custom IntegratedML models (Python-based, executed in-database via SQL) and AI-assisted developer tooling such as DTL Explain, enabling more advanced modeling and improved developer workflows directly within InterSystems IRIS.
  • BI, Vector Search, and Analytics Improvements: Improved query efficiency for analytics and AI-related workloads. The use of POSIX time in InterSystems IRIS BI improves handling of date/time dimensions, particularly with third-party BI tools.
