Thank you for this article.
I often talk to friends who work in IT and who are familiar with databases, but who have never heard of IRIS. The contents of this article will help me in my attempts to explain what IRIS does that is so different and superior to what they are familiar with.
I think this should be a 'Social Share' article, because it outlines many of these differences in an easy-to-understand way.

This is a great idea!
I'm eager to try it out. The IP/Port change from Dev/Test/Prod environments have always been an issue with us.
We are using System Defaults to deal with this issue currently, but I would like to have this option as well.

Thanks!

I'd like to get another ISC certification. I'm studying for the IRIS Development Professional exam now. I feel like these ISC certifications add credibility to my resume.

I'd also like to hike a couple of the largest peaks in Colorado. I am planning a trip with a friend of mine to do this in the early-summer. I really enjoy hiking in the mountains.

Hello,

  • My name is Craig Bishop. I have a BA in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MS in Healthcare Administration from Texas Tech University.
  •  I live in Lubbock, Texas. My family and I moved here so I could attend grad school at TTU, and we're finding it a good place to live. I am married, and have 4 kids in home school. I work from home as well, so there is always something happening in our house.
  • I started my career working as an IT consultant before focusing on Healthcare IT beginning in 2012. I have worked with large healthcare organizations and medical centers before being introduced to  the InterSystems platform almost 4 years ago. My current role is a Senior Consultant with J2 Interactive where I have worked for the past 3 years. My main area of focus is working with HIEs and interfacing with distributed healthcare locations to improve patient experience.
  • I have worked with several EHR software applications, so one of my areas of expertise is interfacing with a wide variety of EHRs. I would say InterSystems and Oracle Health are the 2 largest platforms I have worked with, and I am excited to learn something new with InterSystems everyday. I enjoy being in a consultant situation and having the opportunity to explain technical details to non-technical personnel.
  • Fun facts about me: I like to tent camp and hike with my family. We love to get out in nature and spend the day exploring the country-side. My family also is very active in our church. The rest of my time is spent with my family playing board games or going to parks.
