HSIEC-12800

InterSystems IRIS® for Health

InterSystems Health Connect

version
2026.1.0.233.0

System Stability Concern: 5 (High)

1. HL7-to-SDA3 transformations are in use

2. Medication-related messages include TQ1 segments

3. TQ1-3 Repeat Pattern contains multiple repetitions

Issue

An issue has been identified in the HL7-to-SDA3 transformation logic that can cause an infinite loop when processing certain medication-related HL7 messages. This issue occurs when a message includes a TQ1 segment with multiple repetitions in the TQ1-3 Repeat Pattern field.

Impact Assessment

When this condition is present, the affected HL7 message may fail to transform to SDA successfully. In some cases, processing may hang, terminate unexpectedly, or interrupt related downstream processing.

This issue is data-dependent and does not affect all HL7 traffic. Customers are likely to be affected if they use HL7-to-SDA3 transformations for medication-related HL7 messages that contain TQ1 segments with multiple repetitions in the TQ1-3 Repeat Pattern field.

Customers who do not process this message pattern are unlikely to be affected.

Resolution

  • A fix is included in the updated point release 2026.1.0.234.1 now available for IRIS for Health and Health Connect products.
  • A fix will also be available in the 2026.1.4 Maintenance Release scheduled for July 2026.
