Thank you for your insights. In our case, the application servers are load balancing all data is stored on the central database server, and the app servers connect to it remotely.
One question: based on your experience, which component do you typically upgrade first — the database or the application servers?
Great to hear your upgrade went smoothly.
We also upgraded the data servers first without issues. However, the app servers aren't responding — they’re still pointing to the old Caché database path.
We're currently evaluating two options:
- Roll back Caché and do a clean IRIS install.
- Do an in-place “patch-style” upgrade, which is causing issues.
Which approach did you use for the app servers — clean install or patch-style?

Thank you everyone for your support and helpful insights!
Our approach was to first upgrade the Database Server, as we are using separate directories for Cache and IRIS. We updated the DB server using our internal script, which worked smoothly.
Next, we updated the Application Server. Since the app server doesn't have its own storage and is fully connected to remote databases, it easily linked with the new IRIS directory after the upgrade.
We appreciate all the guidance shared here—it really helped point us in the right direction. Thanks again to everyone for your contributions!
