Question

Hello,
While doing research on the upgrade to InterSystems IRIS 2024.1.2 version, I was wondering if it would be possible to rollback the installation and return to the previous version in case something went wrong ?
I didn't see anything talking about this in the documentation and when I tried to re-install an older kit over an upgraded instance, I couldn't use it.
Thank you in advance for your reponse There is no rollback mechanism built into the installer (unless there is an issue in the middle of the installation in which case it will back out the installation). If you are using a VM the best practice is to snapshot your VM prior to upgrade and roll back to the snapshot if something goes wrong. This should be done with care because any data changed post upgrade will be lost when you restore the snapshot. Thank you for your answer :) We had a similar experience where we had upgraded our Test environment to 2024.1 but then due to some of the bugs reported it was too late for us to restore from a back-up back to 2022.1.3. So now we are stuck with 2024.1 in our Test environment until we have time to go through 2024.2 and verify our little nuance bugs have been resolved. most welcome! I think for 100% certain rollback a restore by @Benjamin.Spead suggestion would be the way to go. While maybe if you were going back to IRIS 2024.1.1 you could just rename the install directory and install the old version I would not count on that working. I think things like journal files and IRIS.DAT get upgraded so you can not go back. You could have a mirror on the old and new version and move from the old to the new but you would still lose data since you can not mirror to a downlevel version - InterSystems IRIS Instance Compatibility
I would go to the WRC and ask them. Contact the WRC

Good luck with the competition! I think Code Quality is not working what I copy from iris-interoperability-contest. These 3 bonuses are impossible for VSCode apps:
Docker container usage -2
ZPM Package Deployment - 2
Online Demo -2
It is very important to the InterSystems to have developers using VSCode. My proposal is that the bonus for VSCode be higher so that it can compensate for the lack of a ZPM and Docker bonus. I claim the second article bonus: https://community.intersystems.com/post/learn-create-vscode-extensions-iris-global-editor-app

Hi Developers!
With InterSystems IRIS Cloud SQL recently becoming Generally Available, some of you may have had a chance to try it out. Or maybe you used it for your contest entry or during the EAP period. We're curious to learn what YOU think of it. So, have you already tried the new service InterSystems IRIS Cloud SQL?
We have launched a new Ideas Portal category dedicated to this database-as-a-service (DBaaS) where we're looking for your ideas on how we can improve InterSystems IRIS Cloud SQL.
Or share your experience with the service in the comments to this post.

I recently set up InterSystems in the Azure cloud environment. So far, no issues. Recently, I was tasked with uploading the IRIS.dat file (FoIA VISTA) into the instance. I was guided by my teammates to do the following: System Administration > Configuration > Local Databases. The problem is that I need to transfer the .dat file to the instance, because, as it is running on a local machine, it cannot retrieve files from my local drive. Is there a reliable solution, such as a transfer method or way of using the Web Gateway endpoint, one can provide to assist? Thank you for your time. 1. Provision Azure File Share.
2. Mount it locally (on a server with IRIS.DAT)
3. Copy IRIS.DAT into the share.
4. Mount Azure File Share into your cloud env.
5. Move IRIS.DAT from the file share to your block storage.
6. Remove Azure File Share. I can't help with "how to transfer a file to Azure" (I do not use Azure) but before you transfer an IRIS.dat (or an Cache.dat) you should DISMOUNT the corresponding database. Transferring a mounted database is like tire changing in a moving car - it's possible but dangerous.

Hi Community,
InterSystems Certification Program officially changed exam delivery platforms from Questionmark to Certiverse on May 6, 2024. We have made this decision in hopes of providing a better experience for our certification candidates. To take an exam on this new platform, you will be required to sign in with an InterSystems account, the same one that is used for the Developer Community, Online Learning, etc. If you do not have one, please register for an account.
Find more information about Taking InterSystems Exams on Certiverse here, and reach out to certification@intersystems.com if you have any questions.
Note: Our InterSystems HL7 Interface Recertification Project will continue to be hosted on Questionmark until further notice.
Sincerely,
The InterSystems Certification Team
