Can I retain a post as a favorite but cancel my subscription to it?
Suppose I find a post that seems really useful, and that I expect to want to return to in the future. I click on the star to favorite it (giving the author some kudos). But later there's a lot of commenting on it that I don't care about. Can I keep it as a favorite but unsubscribe from updates? Or should I resort to browser bookmarking?

It's a good point, not supported yet. So for now once you point the star you are subscribed to the post at the moment. And vice versa.
What would be the best UI solution in this case in your opinion?
The "My Account" section already looks like it separates Subscriptions from Favorites, but currently the "MY FAVORITES" option goes to the "Saved Content" tab of a page called "My Content".
AFAIK the "Saved Content" tab is no longer operational in its original mode. But perhaps it could be useful for this case.
