Community Bounty Program "Idea to Application" — Round 1 is Live

Hey Community,

Round 1 of the Community Bounty Program "Idea to Application" is officially open. Three ideas from the Ideas Portal are ready to be implemented — pick one or more, build it, publish it on Open Exchange, and earn Global Masters points.

🏅Every qualifying submission earns a Credly badge, Global Masters badge, and 10k+ points. Implement all ideas this round and unlock Tier 2 rewards.

💡Ideas for the first round (April - June 2026)

Idea Description Bounty Bonus Points
Support for redoc for IRIS REST APIs When you build a REST API with InterSystems IRIS ObjectScript, documenting it in a way that's easy for other developers to read and navigate is not straightforward. Redoc is a popular open-source tool that turns OpenAPI specifications into clean, interactive API documentation. Build redoc support for IRIS REST APIs, with ZPM support for easy installation. Generate OpenAPI / Swagger Specification from FHIR Capability Statement FHIR is a standard for exchanging healthcare data. When exposing a FHIR server through an enterprise API gateway, teams are typically asked to provide an OpenAPI specification — a machine-readable description of the API's endpoints and capabilities. Generating this manually is tedious and error-prone. Build a tool that does it automatically by reading the Capability Statement at /metadata and outputting an OpenAPI spec. Example of PyProd

I need an example of using PyProd to work with productions:

  • create a CSV inbound adapter
  • figure out the schema
  • save all of it to the db

Here's an article about it: https://community.intersystems.com/post/pyprod-pure-python-iris-interoperability

And a GitHub repository: https://github.com/intersystems/pyprod

Submission rules:

  • You can implement one or more ideas
  • You can submit up to 3 applications per idea per participant
  • Applications must be new to Open Exchange: no reposts/updates of existing applications
  • Have one author only: team submissions are not accepted
  • When uploading, indicate which idea you're implementing in the submission form

Deadline:

🛠 Application development and submission phase: June 30, 2026.

Application Requirements:

Your application should:

  • Implement the idea completely
  • Be fully functional — it should do something useful end-to-end, not just wrap or repackage an existing library from another language
  • Work on IRIS, IRIS for Health, or IRIS Cloud SQL — you can run these as a local install on Mac or Windows via the Evaluation site, or as a container using intersystemsdc/iris-community:latest or intersystemsdc/irishealth-community:latest from the InterSystems Container Registry
  • Be open source, published on GitHub or GitLab
  • Have a README in English with installation steps and either a video demo or a written description of how the app works

Our team will review all submissions before approving them. Acceptance is based on creativity and originality of approach. The team's decision is final and not subject to appeal.
