Wondering if gherkin (or even cucumber) can be used with IRIS software for testing?

Is there anything specific required there to test IRIS based software?
Our software has been written using object scripts.
And what exactly do you want to test with cucumber?
If you have a web frontend, you can test it already
If you want to test the backend written on ObjectScript, that would need some adoption.
we are open to use something else than gherkin for test automation for IRIS, are there better options?
On a different topic, is there any way to enable openAPI or swagger on old code, or it requries rearchitecting?
