As an IT and cloud team manager with 18 years of experience with InterSystems technologies, I recently led our team in the transformation of our traditional on-premises ERP system to a cloud-based solution. We embarked on deploying InterSystems IRIS within a Kubernetes environment on AWS EKS, aiming to achieve a scalable, performant, and secure system. Central to this endeavor was the utilization of the AWS Application Load Balancer (ALB) as our ingress controller.

A Tutorial On WebSockets

Intro

Most server-client communication on the web is based on a request and response structure. The client sends a request to the server and the server responds to this request. The WebSocket protocol provides a two-way channel of communication between a server and client, allowing servers to send messages to clients without first receiving a request. In the WRC, we often see customers raise questions regarding a new Web Gateway setup where the Management Portal half-loads, but doesn’t show images. This article will explain why this error occurs, as well as how to fix it. You may have already heard that, starting with IRIS and HealthShare HealthConnect 2023.2 versions, the internal Apache Server will be removed from the default installation, so it will be necessary to have an external application server such as Apache Server or NGINX.


In this article I am going to proceed to install a HealthShare HealthConnect 2023.1 so that it works with a pre-installed Apache Server. For this I will use a virtual machine on which I have installed an Ubuntu 22.04.

InterSystems FAQ rubric

You can set individual error pages for the following Web Gateway error messages/system responses:

  • server error
  • server busy
  • server unavailable
  • server timeout
  • connection closed

Settings are made on the Web Gateway Management screen ([Management Portal] > [System Administration] > [Configuration] > [Web Gateway Management] > [Configuration] > [Default Parameters]).

In the Error Page section of the Default Parameters menu, set the filename of the html page to display or the URL to redirect to when an error occurs.

We recently had an issue where we weren't able to parse a JSON HTTP request, but the issue went by unnoticed. We also did not have a trace of what the raw HTTP request was that we couldn't parse. I'm looking at improving our this by:
Tracing the raw request using $$$TRACE

Raising an alert which will hit our Ens.Alert router which will compose and send an email

Running HealthConnect 2021.1 on RedHat Linux 8.4.

I've configured IRIS/HealthConnect with an external web server to support TLS encryption. It's installed on the same server as IRIS, but is a different instance and version of Apache httpd. That all works as expected.

I would also like to keep the "private" web server available, but I'm having an issue with using the fully-qualified domain name in the URL vs. just the hostname itself.

If I use http://servername:52773/csp/sys/UtilHome.csp to log on, all is well.

I am attempting to configure an inbound service that utilizes the EnsLib.SOAP.GenericService class. This service receives HL7-v3 content wrapped in SOAP requests. Despite reading the documentation on configuring SOAP services, I am still confused.

In my current configuration item "Fr_Centrak_RTLS", I have ‘Enable Standard Requests’ checked, ‘Pool Size’ set to 0, and the port is unspecified.

Hello,

I have a problem with a FHIR Interop scenario that the HTTP Header Value content-type between IRIS and client changes in case of an error (HTTP 422). If I set the status in the response to 200 OK as the last step in the service class, the return transmission works.

Within my operation class, the error code is taken from the source system and entered in the HS.FHIRServer.Interop.Response message.

Hello Guys,

Our cache application uses REST web services and handles single API request perfectly with response (response status and related data). But sometimes user sends multiple requests to the same API simultaneously ( ie, without waiting for the first to respond ), where one request will succeed (not necessarily the first) and the others will fail.

So, I need to handle the requests one by one after completing and sending the response for first request in the queue then process the next request and so on.

I am using the event logger from CSP gateway with level "v9r" enabled, in order to dump the raw content of some HTTP requests.

I would like to decode the body response data, when it's in binary form. AFAIK the event logger will convert characters outside the 32-127 range (EBCDIC) to the "\xff" notation (where ff is a hexadecimal value). Here is an example :

We recently moved from using the Private Web Server, to using an Apache/Web Gateway setup and moved towards using the built in LDAP functionality within IRIS. Since then, we have 1 user that uses VSCode (/api/atelier) heavily that continues to have issues signing into IRIS through VS Code and the /api/atelier extension.

I am trying to troubleshoot two issues..

This is probably not the right place, but I don't know who I can reach out to... I am trying to configure an Apache/Web Gateway to our instance of IRIS so we are no longer using the built-in PWS. Can anyone point me in the right direction to configure Apache/Web Gateway to repoint

gateway so our users will not notice? How do I do this in Apache, do I need to modify httpd.conf or the ssl.conf file? What is the correct syntax...

We have a machine that serves 4 instances of Cache on VMS systems, one of them is password protected and works fine as they all do. we decided we wanted something beefier and copied it to a server, well all but the one you have to login to works so 3 of the 4 do. and the odd part is I can no longer get to the management page from anywhere on any machine, http://localhost/csp/bin/Systems/Module.cxw I get a 404.8 error, I have tried adjusting security and same thing. and a server availability error.
