Question Pietro Di Leo · Apr 10

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if it is possible to use the InterSystems Server VSCode Extension to work in client side mode but importing locally the content of a project without having to choose the files manually.

It would be awesome to have all project-related assets synchronized in one go. Relying on InterSystems Projects (.prj files) would be convenient for several reasons:

  1. Projects bundle different file types (CLS, MAC, INT, CSP). Importing the project as a whole is much more efficient than picking individual files piece by piece.

When using VS code with multiple workspaces it requests "The extension 'InterSystems ObjectScript' wants to sign in using InterSystems Server Credentials.

Other than having multiple workspaces per environemnt (which never really works for me in principle as i end up code comparing in one manner or another) is there a way to only have intersystems log in to VS code whenever you open an actual workspace itself i.e. click on dev not on loading vscode.

This would also get around errors of "unauthenticated access rejected by" errors as VS code tries to log in without the password first.

Hello everybody,

I would like to export project contents using Visual Studio Code, as well as I do with InterSystems Studio.

However, while attempting the export through the InterSystems extension I get the following error:

- There are no folders in the current workspace that code can be exported to.

These are the step to reproduce my error:

  1. Create and save a new VSCode workspace
  2. Open a local directory
  3. Go to the InterSystems extension
  4. Open "Projects" panel and right-click on the project you want to export
  5. Click on "Export Project Contents"

Anyone can help me solving this issue?

Hello everyone,

I’m using VS Code with the InterSystems ObjectScript extension and I want to keep my local folder (client-side) as the “source of truth” while still using the built-in Server Source Control features (diff, stage, commit, etc.) against my IRIS/Ensemble instance.

So far:

  • I have a local Git repository with my .cls and .mac files.
  • I’ve configured "objectscript.serverSourceControl.respectEditableStatus": true and "objectscript.serverSourceControl.disableOtherActionTriggers": false in my .vscode/settings.json.

Hi,

We are currently switching from Studio to VSCode and central GIT with Serverside Development and have a few start problems.
I have set up a system with Git.

The baseline commit including remote push works.

But now I have a problem with the VSCode. When I create and compile a new class, it saves it correctly. But if I want to make further changes to the class, it saves the class and loads it again with the previous status.  So the changes I made are gone again.

I have deactivated CompileOnSave without success.
The log shows the following

exporting new version of Utils.HL7Documentation.

Question LI LINFENG · Jan 6, 2025

I have installed three plugins on VS Code: Intersystems Language Server: v2.3.6, Intersystems ObjectScript: v2.10.5, and Intersystems Server Manager: v3.6.2. I connected to the Caché database and connected a workspace to the InterSystems server. Then I edited the code locally on my client machine. However, only modifying the code and adding new code files allow for automatic updates on the server after executing "import without compilation.

Question Paul Hula · Nov 6, 2024

So being forced to use VSCode out of the box for a new Community install I've hit a small problem, documentation hasn't helped and its a simple problem.

How do I enable auto complete and the property viewer in creating a new .MAC?

So I've created "test.mac" and 'assume' can't remember the method name to open a file (for example), typing

"s f=##class(%Library.File).   " in Studio would bring up the methods of %Library.File so I could click the appropriate one, VSCode does not do this (and also didn't show the classes under %Library).

Question Mike.W · Sep 24, 2024

hi everyone,

I'm trying to make some use of AI to help with coding. To achieve this I've moved to VS Code linking to a cache instance, and installed the "Cody" extension from Sourcegraph that talks to Claude Sonnet.

In theory Cody can view, and send to the AI, the file I'm currently editing. However, it does not seem to "see" Cache server items, and only works for stuff in ordinary files that I have open. Is this an issue with "isfs" ("InterSystems File Service" that implements the "filesystem provider API" )? Is anyone else using Cody or any other AI extension successfully?

Thanks,

Mike

Question Colin Brough · May 18, 2023

Is CR/LF changes to DTL files edited/committed to git via VS Code a known issue?

We had an issue with exporting files from one server and importing on another, using XML code exported from Studio: ERROR #6301: SAX XML Parser Error. Turns out that issue was down to CR/LF changes made when transferring the XML from one server to the other.

Question Kari Vatjus-Anttila · Apr 6, 2022

Hello,

Recently I have been tinkering with VSCode and ObjectScript extension to connect to my dockerized IRIS instance. I have configured the instance to use Apache as a Web Gateway as per instructions and it has been working well. Currently I'm using a self-signed certificate for the SSL part of the connection. The browser nags about insecure certs when connecting to Management Portal but that's expected.

Question Nigel Salm · Apr 21, 2021

Hi

How do I view the .int code of a compiled class in VS Code?

I am trying to use gj::Locate and the setup works, the explanation is all fine but when i paste an error from the Error Logs into the gj::locate it firstly tells me that it can't find the .cls and when I paste in the .int reference in the text box where you can specify the class, method, line+offset it replies that it can't find the item.

This is something to do with the objectscript extension rather than gj::locate

Question Hao Ma · Apr 25, 2024

there is a setting in VSCode "objectscript.export: {noStorage: ture} "  allow export cls from server to client, without storage definition.

However, wheneven I complied and save cls in my vscode client, the storage definition was added back. If I don't want it, I have to deleted the part manually.

Does anyone have something to teach me? thank you

Every class on the server throws this same error when trying to run the debugger. I've already made sure I don't have the %SecureBreak role assigned which seems to typically fix this issue. Any advice on how to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated!
Error is : <COMMAND>zDebugStub+40^%Debugger.System.1

I am very pleased with the added XML import/export feature in VS Code, this is something I found valuable in Studio. Similarly, I would find it very useful to allow import/export of .rtn files from VS Code. Is this currently possible (other than using SMP)? If not, are there plans for adding this? I frequently work with exported routines in .rtn format that I import into multiple instances.

Question Andrew Smith · Sep 18, 2023

We have some custom tools that do project based deployment from environment to environment. In VS Code, we're struggling to find the best way to export PRJ files that contain the contents of a project the way we were able to in Studio. We can edit existing projects, and in server side editing we can create projects, but we can't seem to extract the project files (Not the classes, the wrapper) to store in our source control solution for deployment purposes.

I realize that a transition to ZPM would potentially render project files in this way unnecessary, but we're not there yet.
