Node.js is an open-sourcecross-platform JavaScript run-time environment for executing JavaScript code server-side.

Question John McBride · Mar 4, 2025

Hello, Does the NodeJs package work when running a node js file on windows (nodejs for windows)? I've added the package by running npm install <package location folder>

I have the following index.js file, but when running from node (windows) I get the following error. Does the NodeJs package build the output files when the package is added or does it just assume linux as the underlying os?

Error: Cannot find module './bin/winx64/irisnative.

Hi,

I almost managed to connect myself from nodejs to IRIS via intersystems-iris-native, but the connection failed.

> const irisnative = require('./intersystems-iris-native')

It finished with ERROR_8BIT_SERVER.   I would like to ask you whether it is possible to connect to IRIS from javascript, in order to execute Mumps commands from nodejs.

Kind regards,

Alin C Soare.

Question Marco Blom · Jun 20, 2023

When trying the Iris Nodejs Quickstart I do get the following message in the source code:

Could not find a declaration file for module 'intersystems-iris-native'. 'C:/Nodejs Quickstart/Solutions/intersystems-iris-native/index.js' implicitly has an 'any' type.
Try `npm i --save-dev @types/intersystems-iris-native` if it exists or add a new declaration (.d.ts) file containing `declare module 'intersystems-iris-native';`
ts(7016)
module"C:/Nodejs Quickstart/Solutions/intersystems-iris-native/index"

the necessary npm modules are installed.

Question Sehinde Raji · Dec 29, 2021

I am a newbie who is trying to learn how to set up a basic connection to Iris using a node js application. I am astounded at the lack of documentation there is on how to do this and even more concerning there are a few errors within the documentation. For example I am on the Native API application within the below link.

https://docs.intersystems.com/irislatest/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cl…

And it says that you need to create a directory the thing is that it doesn't state which directory this needs to be or any other history.

Newbie

I am currently running a docker image with Iris 2021.1 and I would like to install node js on to it. I have had a look at the instructions on the intersystems online learning portal and I must say its very confusing. Some of the documentation says that you can only install it on 2019. Other parts say that it doesn't matter and you can install it if you have a dev directory. I checked my dev directory and there it isn't there. Sadly this is very inconsistent. Does anyone know if it is possible to install on the above mentioned version of Iris ?

Hey Intersystems Community,

I have a Problem with the Session Handling in .csp.

I wrote all my Web Services in .csp-Pages and do the work for example in the OnPreHttp Method for to get some data.

After that the Web Service response is in JSON.

I call These Web Services via fetch in my react Single Page application, also Many request parallel. The react App is Rolled out as index.html.
Everything Works Fine with the session Handling via Cookie.

Hi,

My attempt to run a node.js command fails at the open command with a "Error loading Cache Library: C:/InterSystems/Cache2018/bin/cache.dll; Error Code 126 (The specified module could not be found.)" result. I can't argue with the error message as the cache.dll file doesn't exist. Apparently I missed an installation step. Could somebody point out what it might be please.

Version: Node.js Adaptor for Cache: Version: 1.1.136a (ABI=48)

Cache for Windows (x86-64) 2018.1.4 (Build 504) Thu May 14 2020 14:31:34 EDT

I'm using cache610.node from InterSystems along with Nodejs.org release v6.10.3

Hi,

I want to test the node.js interface to iris with trial sandbox. The node.js documentation refers to get de node package from the instance bin directory. As I'm trying to use the trial sandbox I don't have access to the directory. Please let me know where I could download iris.node package.

Thanks,

Fabian

I am using Windows 7 Pro + SP1.

Thanks!

Searching the developer community for the string "node.js" leads to navigating to the following URL: https://community.intersystems.com/search/all/node.js for which the browser receives the "404 NOT FOUND" error response. The behavior is consistent for any search string ending on ".js" or ".css" (not sure whether there any other suffixes affected). Please fix the DC to handle such search strings appropriately.

WebSockets look to be supported reasonably well in Cache. I have yet to use them in production so I am wondering how well it has worked for other developers.

In particular what happens when the browser does not support WebSockets, or when a firewall blocks the connection.

Have you had to write your own long polling fall-back?

I've read the documentation and found this interesting article...

https://community.intersystems.com/post/asynchronous-websockets-quick-tutorial

but no mention of long polling fall-backs that I can see.

Using Node.js with Caché - Introduction says the following:

The cache.node module is the Node.js interface for the GlobalsDB kit, which can be obtained from the GlobalsDB download page (http://globalsdb.org/downloads/). The Node.js interface can be used with either Caché or the free GlobalsDB database.
The installation kit includes detailed documentation on how to install and configure the cache.node module.

However, http://globalsdb.org/downloads gives a 404 and http://globalsdb.org just redirects to intersystems.com

Where can I find the files I need?

I cannot connect to Cache from node.js

I have installed in Windows 10 the following: CACHE 2016, node.js v 4.4.7 and  express .

-  where can I get cache.node? The link in the Intersystmes documentation  http://globalsdb.org/downloads/  doesn't work. I found cache0100.node and cache0120.node  in my Cache instance's  \bin directory. But I am not sure if I can use them or not.

 - how to install cache.node ? Where do I place it exactly?

Can anyone recommend any tutorial or code example with installation instructions?

Thank you!
