IPM version 0.10.6 was released on February 24th, 2026. This version is mostly bug fixes, but does add the -export-python-deps flag to the package and publish  commands to include Python dependencies with the IPM module itself. As usual, you can check it out on the GitHub page or through the Community Registry.

Here's the complete changelog:

Added

  • #1024: Added flag -export-python-deps to publish command

Fixed

  • #996: Ensure COS commands execute in exec under a dedicated, isolated context
  • #1002: When listing configured repositories, only show the TokenAuthMethod when a token is defined.

The Application Services team is pleased to announce the release of git-source-control version 2.4.0, introducing several new features to the open-source project.

For those unfamiliar, git-source-control is an embedded (or "server-side") source control tool for InterSystems products, installed through the InterSystems Package Manager.

Here are the key additions to the 2.4.0 release:

  1. Basic Mode

Basic mode presents an overall great simplification to the git workflow, suitable for users with less knowledge of git as a source control tool.

We have released IPM 0.9.0. I previously remarked on some of the history and reasoning here; to summarize, this is a big release for two reasons: it represents a long-overdue reunification of our internal and community-driven work around IRIS-centric ObjectScript package management, and it has some backwards incompatibilities. There are several necessary backwards incompatibilities in our roadmap, and we've lumped them together; this will not be some new norm.

Under the hood, the class naming and package structure has completely changed.

InterSystems Package Manager 0.9.0 Beta

I am excited to announce the upcoming release of InterSystems® Package Manager (IPM) version 0.9.0. This has possible impact for all users of IPM and we would welcome the community’s feedback prior to release.

How can I get involved?

As an important note, this is a beta and not yet recommended for use in production. You can find the latest v0.9.0-beta.x release at https://github.com/intersystems/ipm/releases Under assets, there’s a file named zpm-0.9.0-beta.x.xml. Download this and then load it with $System.OBJ.Load(filename,"c").

Please allow me to introduce you to a new way of interacting with IPM (InterSystems Package Manager), also known as ZPM, directly from inside Visual Studio Code.

First, install into VS Code the free InterSystems Package Manager extension, published to Marketplace by George James Software. A quick way is to use the search field in VS Code's Extensions view and look for 'ipm zpm' (without the quotes). Alternatively browse to https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=georgejames.iris-pa…

Here's a short video showing the extension in action.

If you are using the client-side development paradigm (i.e. editing code in local files that get imported and compiled onto the IRIS server your `objectscript.conn` settings point to) you can now use IPM in VS Code to manage the packages in your IRIS target by launching it from the Explorer view. Just make sure the extension you are using is at least version 1.0.4, then use this button:

Thanks to @Evgeny Shvarov for suggesting this enhancement, which is particularly useful when using Docker.

If you're building solutions on IRIS and want to use Git, that's great! Just use VSCode with a local git repo and push your changes out to the server - it's that easy.

But what if:

  • You're collaborating with other developers on a shared, remote development environment and want to avoid concurrent editing of the same file
  • You're using editors based in the management portal for BPL, DTL, pivots, dashboards, etc.

Hey Community,

Tired of entering login-password during the docker build with your InterSystems IRIS every time?

There is a handy way to turn it on and off – use the passwordless zpm module.

Watch this video to explore how to use the passwordless ipm module to turn on and off entering login-password during docker build with your InterSystems IRIS:

We have just released a minor update to the package manager, which has been renamed from ZPM to IPM as I explained in November.  It purely a bug fix release, properly interpreting ROBOCOPY return codes and fixing a regression that prevented installation of certain packages.

Get it here:

I'm pleased to announce a milestone in the lifecycle of the ObjectScript package manager, ZPM. The package manager has offered developers the ability to neatly package up ObjectScript code and deployment configuration settings and version information in a convenient way. Over the last few years, it has evolved greatly into an integral part of many development workflows.

A new release of ZPM has been published 0.5.0

New in this release

  • Added support for Python's requirements.txt file
  • Using tokens for publishing packages
  • Fixed various issues

Python's requirements.txt

Now, if your project uses Python embedded and requires some Python's dependencies, you can add requirements.txt file to the project, as usual for any Python project, file have to be in the root of a project next to module.xml. And with load command or install command, ZPM will install dependencies from that file with using pip.

InterSystems and the developer community around ZPM have been working together to take ZPM to the next level, building it into IRIS and making it a tool that can not only manage 3rd-party code, but key parts of InterSystems' products. You can hear a lot more on this topic at Global Summit 2022, and attend an experience lab to get hands-on.

As a developer, you can also join the ongoing discussion about some final key design issues we are exploring with the community.

I'd like to bring your attention to my two Virtual Summit sessions, even though they're not HALF as cool as Embedded Python.

Git & GitLab for Shared Development Environments details the newly-released git-source-control package (see also on the Open Exchange) which provides a new best-of-breed solution for server-side IRIS/Git integration, especially for shared remote development environments. (I need to write up a post about this package specifically and plan to do so soon.

InterSystems Global Summit (or Virtual Summit this year) is traditionally a time of big announcements, and I'm sure our friends from InterSystems have quite a lot of new and exciting things to share with us this year. Here at Banksia Global, we have a big announcement for you as well. Please meet our new website built to make IRIS-based software distribution a breeze: ZpmHub.com!

ZPM-Registry – is the package registry for the ZPM package manager.

As you probably know, the ZPM package manager is configured by default to work with the public community registry https://pm.community.intersystems.com/, which currently has more than 150 packages published.
You can install and configure your own registry for use in your organization.

Starting from version 1.1.2, zpm-registry includes the Proxy feature.
Now you can link your own registry to another (for example, the public registry of the community).

Hi developers!

Sometimes we need to test this or that library, framework, or function vs some dataset. And often we want to deal with some meaningful data.

Recently I added two very simple but meaningful datasets that could be installed with one line.

Titanic Dataset

Application

Contains 800+ records about passengers from the famous cruise liner. The dataset could be installed with:

zpm "install dataset-titanic"

This installs one class dc.data.Titanic with 800+ records.

Countries dataset

Application

The dataset contains data about 167 countries such as population, surface, capital, the average life expectancy. The dataset could be installed as:

zpm "install dataset-countries"

This installs one class dc.data.Countries and the global with data.

Hooray!

I'm pleased to announce that 100 ZPM modules are available in the public InterSystems IRIS zpm-repository! Now!

Thank you, developers! This is great that you adopt ZPM Package manager that fast and share your open source add-on libraries for InterSystems IRIS in a form of ZPM packages which means that each of them could be installed as:

USER>zpm "install module-name"

Wish to see the next milestone of 1,000 modules soon in 2021!

Thank you!
