I'm trying to create a SOAP service between two systems (one client and one server) to transfer files from the client to the server.

I'm reading through the documentation available at https://docs.intersystems.com/iris20223/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cls?... but wanted to look at an actual example of code (preferably a small example for both systems).

If anyone has such an example or could create one, it would greatly help me understand how SOAP services work.

Error with AutoML

Does anyone have any idea why there is such an error during model training? How can I change providers if my application does not have a management portal?

It is a recommended security practice to login into sensitive Administrator Portals without any input passwords. Thus, it is necessary to identify and authenticate the users correctly. A common technique employed by web portals and mobile applications is to use Google social login. Today, Google Gmail has 2 billion users (source: https://www.usesignhouse.com/blog/gmail-stats). Therefore, it is a perfect shared login service to utilize to login InterSystems IRIS users when they need to manage their instances. This article will detail all the steps to embed Google Login into your InterSystems Management Portal.

Register your InterSystems instance in the Google Console

1. Go to https://console.cloud.google.com and log in with your Google user account.
2. On the header click Select a project:

Benelux Caché User Group Meetup

Hey Developers,

We're honored to invite you to the first Benelux Caché User Group meetup since the start of COVID! It is dedicated to the Columnar storage, IRIS licensing, hardware & performance, and embedded Python!

Date: 04 May 2023 from 13:30 to 17:00

📍Venue: InterSystems BV, Medialaan 32 / 1, B-1800 Vilvoorde, Belgium

Do you or does your team work with InterSystems IRIS or Caché? Then this afternoon's event will be interesting to gain additional insights and meet colleagues. The team of InterSystems will be there too.

The agenda includes sessions from both the User Group and InterSystems itself, and at the end of the meeting, InterSystems will provide a snack and a drink as usual. Participation in the user group and meetings is free of charge!

I have a situation where I have a handful of classes which I need to copy to another Namespace (which uses a different RoutineDB) on the same instance, load it and compile it.

Can anyone help me come up with a command that will do this quickly and easily? Perhaps something with extended reference?

This is somewhat time sensitive so thank you in advance for your ideas!

Spoilers: Daily Integrity Checks are not only a best practice, but they also provide a snapshot of global sizes and density.

Update:
Many of the below utilities now offer a mode to estimate the size with <2% error on average with orders of magnitude improvements in performance and IO requirements. I continue to urge regular Integrity Checks, however there are situations where more urgent answers are needed.

Description

Support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office as a Senior Health Data Migration Engineer. Assess the current VA's data migration requirements, maintain and update the strategy to meet the requirements. Review error and trace logs. Track messages by domain and reconcile table counts with Cerner. Review secure data message transmission logs. Track the number of records sent per message by domain. Monitor Queue Depth by service, process and operation. Track retry attempts and suspended messages. Validate and update data integration reports in support of VX130 data domains. Review, update, and maintain Cerner to CDW, VistA, Millennium or Cloud Database data mappings for potential data migrations. Evaluate and integrate data from multiple sources, which requires data mapping from one data source to another minimizing any data loss. Document VistA Extraction and monitoring process and update existing documentation quarterly. Interpret Cerner’s Data model to be used for the construction of API’s, queries, and reports that will be consumed by internal or external applications. Review Domain adds to Ensemble Production. Validate Ensemble data flows built using VX130 ClassBuilder.

Hi Developers!

There is a recent update came for developer community images of InterSystems IRIS and IRIS For Health.

This release comes with Environment variables support.

Currently 3 variables are supported:

  • IRIS_USERNAME=user to create
  • IRIS_PASSWORD=with password
  • IRIS_NAMESPACE=create namespace if doesn't exist

Here is what you can do - see below.

Start iris with your username and password created:

docker run --rm --name iris-sql -d -p 9091:1972 -p 9092:52773 -e IRIS_PASSWORD=demo -e IRIS_USERNAME=demo intersystemsdc/iris-community

Trying to make some scripts to do some IRIS initialization during startup, I noticed that iris start and particularly stop takes too much time, and it starts to many processes in the background.

nostu is mostly useless for system initialization but could help in some scenarios, such as setup passwords, but it is still too slow

irisowner@4ea1bfb50b7f:~$ time iris start iris nostu
Starting IRIS
Using 'iris.cpf' configuration file

Starting Control Process
Global buffer setting requires attention. Auto-selected 25% of total memory.
Allocated 7417MB shared memory
6002MB global buffers, 600MB routine buffers
Creating a WIJ file to hold 99 megabytes of data
InterSystems IRIS is started in single user mode.
To log into InterSystems IRIS, type:
    iris session IRIS -B

real 0m0.513s
user 0m0.090s
sys 0m0.207s

For instance, I have no idea why it starts so many AUX processes, even during NOSTU. With a normal start with no extra volumes attached, just plain start, I see no reasons to have so many AUX processes as well.

This week I was able to demo a proof of concept for our FMS interface on traffic cop architecture to my team. We are working on modernizing an Interoperability production running on mirrored Health Connect instances. We deploy IRIS workloads on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform using InterSystems Kubernetes Operator (IKO). We can define any number of replicas for the compute stateful set where each compute pod runs our Interoperability production. We introduced Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA) to scale up the number of compute pods based on memory or CPU utilization.

We have a function that was written for us that allows us to create text files for logging certain aspects to the OS using %Stream.FileCharacter. We had no issues with this until we moved from AIX to Red Hat.

Now it seems the 1st time the function is called, and the file is created the permissions seem to be correct on the file. But as soon as we attempt to write another line to the file using MoveToEnd() it seems the permissions are changed on the file. I have been able to narrow the issue down to the MoveToEnd() by calling the function from different users.

IRIS configurations and user accounts contain various data elements that need to be tracked, and many people struggle to copy or sync those system configurations and user accounts between IRIS instances. So how can this process be simplified?

In software engineering, CI/CD or CICD is the set of combined practices of continuous integration (CI) and (more often) continuous delivery or (less often) continuous deployment (CD). Can CI/CD eliminate all our struggles?

InterSystems SQL Cheat Sheet

Hi developers!

As you know InterSystems IRIS besides globals, object, document and XML data-models also support relational where SQL is expected as a language to deal with the data.

And as in other relational DBMS InterSystems IRIS has its own dialect.

I start this post to support an SQL cheatsheet and invite you to share your favorites - I'll update the content upon incoming comments.

Here we go!
