InterSystems IRIS is a Complete Data Platform
InterSystems IRIS gives you everything you need to capture, share, understand, and act upon your organization’s most valuable asset – your data.
As a complete platform, InterSystems IRIS eliminates the need to integrate multiple development technologies. Applications require less code, fewer system resources, and less maintenance.

In the last years the data architecture and platforms focused into Big Data repositories and how toprocess it to deliver business value. From this effort many technologies were created to process tera and petabytes of data, see:

The fundamental piece to the Big Data technologies is HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System). It is a distributed file system to store tera or petabytes of data into arrays of storages, memory and CPU working together.

A full cycle project, from initial data initialization, daily update products from the official website, a service for sending a course on request and receiving a schedule for any period.

After installing the project, we will get a table of ruble exchange rates against the main currencies of the world established by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for 2016-2021. Launching the product service with default settings will allow you to receive daily new exchange rates for the current day.

Setting the Scene

Suppose you have the following 2 persistent classes that are both JSON-enabled (i.e. extends %JSON.Adaptor or %pkg.isc.rest.model.adaptor)

Class Test.Employee Extends (%Persistent, %pkg.isc.rest.model.adaptor) {
  Parameter RESOURCENAME = "employee";
  Parameter firstName As %String;
  Parameter lastName As %String;
  Relationship projects As Test.Project [ Cardinality = many, Inverse = employee) ];
}

Class Test.Project Extends (%Persistent, %pkg.isc.rest.model.

A few weeks ago I posted an announcement about a JavaScript-based interface for our mg_web WebServer interfacing addon module.  mg_web isn't just restricted to use by JavaScript developers though.  Many readers will be ObjectScript developers who are more used to using CSP as their web gateway.  Some may even have much older legacy WebLink-based applications (and be wondering how to support them given that IRIS does not support WebLink).

This article aims to provide some more information on mg_web and to explain why it's worth a look for ObjectScript developers.

Graphical Display of Tables

Here we will document how you can get the results of your Data Collection to be displayed graphically. The output of your project will look like this:

image

Note that I am working on a local machine. If you are doing this on a server then be aware to use the correct IP address.

First, we will import the three classes from the that we are going to need (note that we will edit them later):

You can take the xml and import it to your system.

The spec will actually create the dispatch class and implementation template.

In this post, we'll discuss our project that leverages Pulumi and Docker Compose to automate the deployment of InterSystems WSGI applications on AWS. The focus is on simplicity and efficiency, using pre-built infrastructure templates for provisioning and scaling AWS resources.

Overview

This repository automates the deployment of a WSGI-based application using AWS infrastructure templates and Pulumi’s Python SDK. The infrastructure is provisioned with Pulumi's declarative approach, while Docker Compose handles application orchestration.

In 2023, according to IDC, Salesforce's market share in CRM reached 21.7%. This company owns a substantial amount of critical corporate business processes and data, so the InterSystems IRIS must have an interoperability connector to fetch data from the Salesforce data catalog. This article will show you how to get any data hosted by Salesforce and create an interoperation production to get data and send it to such targets as files and relational databases.

Create your development account on Salesforce:

1. Go to https://developer.salesforce.com/signup:

For my intern project, I am building a Flask REST API backend. My goal is to host it on InterSystems IRIS using the WSGI interface. This is a relatively new approach and is currently only being used in a handful of projects such as AskMe. To help others get started, I decided to write this article to simplify the process.

Creating a Basic Flask App

First, let’s create a minimal Flask application. Here is the code:

from flask import Flask
from flask_cors import CORS

app = Flask(__name__)
CORS(app)

@app.route('/test')
def test():
    return "Test"
if __name__ == "__main__":
    app.

Following on from JediSoft’s announcement of the general availability of JediSoft IRISsync®, I wanted to show how it can help prevent configuration drift and ensure your failover is always ready.

When managing InterSystems IRIS production servers, even a minor configuration change can cause significant issues if it’s not replicated in your mirror environments. Often, these differences go unnoticed until your failover environment breaks.

This common, but critical, problem can lead to unexpected downtime at a vital moment and impact your business continuity.

iris-budget

I created iris-budget app for the InterSystems Full Stack Contest in 2026. By full stack, we mean a frontend web or mobile application that inserts, updates, or deletes data in InterSystems IRIS via REST API, Native API, ODBC/JDBC, or Embedded Python.

My app uses multiple REST APIs to add a new category or retrieve a list of categories of expenses and income.

First web application /csp/coffee

I inherited /csp/coffee from module.xml in iris-fullstack-template.

Second web application /csp/budget

For this project, I created a swagger file called "budget.json.

"Telegram" is a well-known instant messenger, which provides an API for creating bots. The features of this API allow you to create bots with a wide range of functionality including receiving payments.
With the help of the telegram bot, I solved a simple task - sending Alerts from Ensemble to Telegram.

Advantages: Alerts come to the mobile phone, a notification appears, so there is no need to install any additional applications (in contrast to the solution https://community.intersystems.com/post/sending-alerts-mobile-phone-using-pushover- httpoutboundadapter).

The bot can be extended by adding new commands, for example, for managing the Production or for solving other tasks in Iris, Ensemble or Cache.

This error is sometimes seen while viewing a listing in InterSystems IRIS Business Intelligence:
ERROR #5540: SQLCODE: -99 Message: User <USERNAME> is not privileged for the operation (4)

As the error suggests, this is due to a permission error. To figure out which permissions are missing/needed, we can take a look at the SQL query that is generated. We will use a query from SAMPLES as an example.

SELECT TOP 1000 %ID, DateOfSale, Outlet->City, %EXTERNAL(Channel) AS Channel, Product->Name AS Product, UnitsSold, AmountOfSale AS Revenue, (Discount * 100) || '%' AS Discount, Comment FROM HoleFoods.

IRIS 2010.1 brought us a new feature: %Net.WebSocket.Client

As a continuation of my series of WS Clients I just couldn't resist to try it.
Well, this is the result and it was rather simple in the end.

  • After I succeeded in my personal fight against Windows Firewall ;-)

You basically need to prepare 3 classes:

  • Credentials for User, PW, SSL
  • an Event Listener
  • the Client (Could be a .MAC routine as well)

The example uses the WSS.EchoServer (a derivate from former SAMPLES in Caché).
The default assumption is to have Client and Server on the same system & namespace.

In my previous articles I demonstrated the steps to connect, retrieve and save data to Caché from Appeon PowerBuilder by using ODBC.
In this article I will demonstrated how to Delete data from Caché with Appeon PowerBuilder (https://www.appeon.com/products/powerbuilder) by using ODBC

I am using Company.cls from Samples-Data (https://github.com/intersystems/Samples-Data/tree/master/cls/Sample

So Let's start:

Step 1 : First of all we need to establish a connection (https://community.intersystems.

You may know it but IRIS is a database with the ability to execute code.

The code execution part is called an Application Server.

Today IRIS supports natively two languages: ObjectScript and Python.
Executing code is good, knowing how to organize it is better.

Organizing code is software architecture, not everyone has the desire or knowledge to create such a solution.
To do this, many programming languages offer what we call Frameworks.

InterSystems FAQ rubric

In Windows, set the processes with the following image names as monitoring targets.

[irisdb.exe]

contains important system processes.
* Please refer to the attachment for how to check important system processes that should be monitored.

[IRISservice.exe]

This is the process for handling IRIS instances via services.
When this process ends, it does not directly affect the IRIS instance itself, but stopping IRIS (stopping the service) is no longer possible.

[ctelnetd.exe]

%Service_Telnet Starts when the service is enabled and becomes a daemon process to access IRIS via Telnet.

We are looking at what we need to do to migrate from our current usage of Zen reports to InterSystems Reports. One of the hurdles for us is figuring out ways to interact with InterSystems reports programmatically from ObjectScript routines. There is a Java API for it, but it is possible to generate a report from InterSystems reports to a stream object in ObjectScript without diving into Java by using a %Net.HttpRequest.

For containers in ECS files are not editable if the file size is larger than ephemeral storage free space. For example if I have 4Gb free I can't edit 8Gb file. But if I start container with 50 Gb of ephemeral storage (24Gb free) I can edit my 8Gb file just fine. Even file attributes cannot be changed: chattr -i <file> fails if the amount of free ephemeral storage is not enough (and so db can't be mounted for writing).

This can cause iris container failure on startup if large DB is both RW and mounted on start.
