Apache Superset is a modern data exploration and data visualization platform. Superset can replace or augment proprietary business intelligence tools for many teams. Superset integrates well with a variety of data sources.

And now it is possible to use with InterSystems IRIS as well.

An online demo is available and it uses IRIS Cloud SQL as a data source.

Apache Superset provides a bunch of examples, which were successfully loaded to IRIS without any issues, and displayed on example dashboards.

In this article, I will introduce my application iris-HL7v2Gen .

IRIS-HL7v2Gen is a CSP application that facilitates the dynamic generation of HL7 test messages. This process is essential for testing, debugging, and integrating healthcare data systems. The application allows users to generate a wide variety of HL7 message types, validate their structure against HL7 specifications, explore the message hierarchy, and transmit messages over TCP/IP to production systems. So I decided to gather a few first cases, put in one OEX project, and share them with you!

And here is how you can use them.

I would like to present my last package OpenAPI-Suite, this is a set of tools to generate ObjectScript code from an OpenAPI specification version 3.0.  In short, these packages allow to: 

• Generate server-side class.  It’s pretty similar to the generated code by ^%REST but the added value is the version 3.0 support.
• Generate HTTP client classes.
• Generate client production (business services, business operation, business process, Ens.Request, Ens.Response) classes.
• A web interface to generate and download the code or generate and compile directly on the server.
• Convert specification from version 1.x, 2.x to version 3.0.

You might know that you can search posts in DC by Tags
starting in left upper  corner   and  

that's fine to start. But - based on some local feedback - some improvements

This spams you with a lot of results but often much more than useful
so the suggestions for extensions:

The OpenAPI Specification (OAS) defines a standard, language-agnostic interface to HTTP APIs which allows both humans and computers to discover and understand the capabilities of the service without access to source code, documentation, or through network traffic inspection. When properly defined, a consumer can understand and interact with the remote service with a minimal amount of implementation logic. While for SOAP based APIs there is a special wizard in InterSystems IRIS that cuts down orchestrations development time, not all APIs used in integrations are SOAP. That's why @Jaime Lerga suggested to add a wizard similar to the SOAP wizard to generate a REST client from OpenAPI specification. Implementation of this idea cuts down the development time of the REST API orchestrations with InterSystems IRIS. This idea is one of most popular ideas on the InterSystems ideas. This article, the third in the "Implemented Ideas" series, focuses on the OpenAPI Suite solution developed by @Lorenzo Scalese.

We know how frustrating it can be to receive a lot of emails (and we definitely don't want to add to your load), so here is how you can set up email notifications for the InterSystems Ideas portal.

By default, all registered users are subscribed to all categories of ideas. To change this, just enter your Ideas Portal profile, select "Edit Profile," then click inside the item "Weekly summary email," click on "Categories to highlight" and choose what you're interested in.

JSON is a lightweight data interchange formatfor representing and exchanging data between a server and a web application. Its popularity has led to its widespread use in applications based on InterSystems technology, as well as demand for a converter that transforms globals to JSON and back. Therefore, @Evgeny Shvarov suggested developing Global->JSON->Global converter. Implementing such a converter is important to ensure interoperability, simplify data exchange, support web services, and provide a standardized approach to data representation across different software ecosystems. The %CSP.Login class is the utility class provided by InterSystems IRIS to do custom login pages. If you want to control your IRIS application authentication UI, you must extend %CSP.Login and override some methods according to your needs. This article is going to detail those methods and what you can do with them. In addition to that, you will get an explanation of the delegated authentication mechanism provided by ZAUTHENTICATE.mac routine.

Introduction

Not so long ago, I came across the idea of using Python Class Definition Syntax to create IRIS classes on the InterSystems Ideas Portal. It caught my attention since integrating as many syntaxes as possible gives visibility to InterSystems’s products for programmers with experience in many languages.

The author of that idea pointed out the possibility of creating classes using Python’s syntax, in addition to the currently available ones on IRIS. This concept inspired me to write this article, exploring the possibilities of accessing the full InterSystems power employing only Python.

In this article, I'm excited to introduce my latest application, Journal File Indexer. The development of this application is rooted in the portal idea  DPI-I-270.  

In short, this application lets you load and index a log file in a database.  

Why?

If you've ever used the log file search function in the management portal, you may have encountered a timeout error or even a blank page. This problem usually occurs when searching a large journal file. Journal File Indexer solves this problem by considerably increasing the speed of searches once the file has been loaded into the database.  

Another problem arises during the restoration process. When searching for global entries in a log file to restore old or new values, the management portal doesn't have this specific functionality. A routine must therefore be coded to achieve this. Journal File Indexer comes to the rescue, incorporating a restore function!

Prepare a Sample application

1. For this tutorial we will use the iris-rest-api-template (https://openexchange.intersystems.com/package/iris-rest-api-template), adding some code to install JIRISReport support. Do these steps:

In this article, I will introduce my application IRIS-FlaskBlog.
IRIS-FlaskBlog Application is a real-world application that leverages the functionality of Flask web framework, SQLALchemy ORM, and InterSystems IRIS. The application contains user registration and authentication with the help of Flask-Login python library, a responsive user interface to create and edit posts.

When creating custom Business Hosts, it's often necessary to add properties to the class for additional settings that will be used in the initialization or operation of the host. The property name itself isn't always very descriptive, so it's an advantage to have a custom caption display with the field.

In Caché, it was fairly straightforward:

But It involves a bit more effort in IRIS ...

There are several ways of classifying cryptographic algorithms: 1) Secret Key Cryptography (SKC) - Uses a single key for both encryption and decryption. It is also called symmetric encryption. Primarily, it was used for privacy and confidentiality; 2) Public Key Cryptography (PKC) - Uses one key for encryption and another one for decryption. It is also called asymmetric encryption. Initially, it was utilised for authentication, non-repudiation, and key exchange; 3) Hash Functions - Uses a mathematical transformation to irreversibly "encrypt" information, providing a digital fingerprint.

Some time ago I introduced a new driver for Django for IRIS. Now, let's see how to use Django with IRIS in practice.

Hibernate is the most popular framework to do ORM (Object Relational Mapping) projects. With Hibernate a software can use the main DBMS in the market, including the capability to change the database vendor any time, without source code impact. This is possible because the Hibernate supports dialects. Each database product has a different dialect that can be assigned into a configuration file. So, if a software is using Oracle and is looking to evolve to InterSystems IRIS, just change the configuration file with connection and dialect information.

REST API for Security Package

Hi community,

In this article, we will learn how to set up a REST API for the IRIS Security Package. We will be able to create users, roles, add applications, etc... by simple HTTP requests as well as generate a client application in ObjectScript.

Requirements

We need :

1. An IRIS instance (installation kit or docker).
2. ObjectScript package manager (ZPM).
3. (Optional) A second IRIS instance to generate an ObjectScript client.

We will use a set of existing applications and libraries on OpenExchange.

Being a programmer nowadays is basically the geek version of being a polyglot. Of course, most of us here, in the InterSystems Community, “speak ObjectScript”. Here is a short article on how to create an idea on InterSystems Ideas. 

0. Register on Ideas Portal if you aren't a member yet or log in. You can easily register using your InterSystems Developer Community ID.

1. Read carefully Portal Guide page on the Ideas Portal, especially "Idea promotion rules" section. All posted ideas are moderated following these rules.

2. Click on the "Add a new idea" button

and you will see the form to add the idea.

3. First, provide a one-sentence summary of the idea which is the required field.

It is a recommended security practice to login into sensitive Administrator Portals without any input passwords. Thus, it is necessary to identify and authenticate the users correctly. A common technique employed by web portals and mobile applications is to use Google social login. Today, Google Gmail has 2 billion users (source:https://www.usesignhouse.com/blog/gmail-stats). Therefore, it is a perfect shared login service to utilize to login InterSystems IRIS users when they need to manage their instances. This article will detail all the steps to embed Google Login into your InterSystems Management Portal.

In the first part, we describe all packages, used libraries and REST services.

Now, I would like to add some details about converter and validator services.

By default, OpenAPI-Suite sends an HTTP request to converter.swagger.io if the specification version is less than 3.0 and another HTTP request to validator.swagger.io to simplify the structure of the specification document.  

Although the usage of online utilities is convenient, in some cases it could be better to have our own instance of the converter and validator.  For example, if OpenAPI-Suite is provided on a server in an organisation for ObjectScript developers, it may be preferable to avoid requests to external services (privacy, avoid request rate limits).
