#Interoperability

In healthcare, interoperability is the ability of different information technology systems and software applications to communicate, exchange data, and use the information that has been exchanged.

Introduction

Not so long ago, I came across the idea of using Python Class Definition Syntax to create IRIS classes on the InterSystems Ideas Portal. It caught my attention since integrating as many syntaxes as possible gives visibility to InterSystems’s products for programmers with experience in many languages.

The author of that idea pointed out the possibility of creating classes using Python’s syntax, in addition to the currently available ones on IRIS. This concept inspired me to write this article, exploring the possibilities of accessing the full InterSystems power employing only Python.

Dynamic PoolSize (DPS) Experiment

Purpose:

Enhance Ensemble or IRIS production so it can dynamically allocate pool size for adapter-based components based on their utilization.

Sometimes, an unexpected traffic volume occurs, and default pool size allocated to production components may become a bottleneck. To avoid such situations, I created a demonstrator project some 2 years ago to see, whether it would be possible and feasible to modify production, so it allowed for dynamically modifying its components per their load.

I created a Custom Business Service to receive a multipart message with a file and I need to save only the file, not all message. How Can I extract only the file from the pInput to save in a File? This is my code:

Class dc.Test.TestService Extends Ens.BusinessService

{

Parameter ADAPTER = "EnsLib.HTTP.InboundAdapter";

Method OnProcessInput(pInput As %GlobalBinaryStreampOutput As %RegisteredObjectAs %Status

{

    Set file=##class(%Stream.FileBinary).%New()

    Set file.Filename="/tmp/automl.png"

    Do file.

Production Configuration

This demo has an interoperability production with 16 items.

Production Configuration HL7 + Kafka Producer

The first part of this demonstration consists of sending an HL7 SIU file which will be transmitted to the 2 other HL7 flows (HTTP and TCP), and transformed and transmitted to the Kafka server. HTTP and TCP flows will transform HL7 messages in the same way before sending them to Kafka as well.

I need to add some extensions to the HS.FHIR.vSTU3,Model.Resource.Patient class and then use those extensions to convert incoming FHIR JSON to the FHIR Patient Resource and Likewise add functionality to create A FHIR Patient (target class) from my patient database into the FHIR Patient  Resource Object (target class)

many months ago I found a tutorial that explained all of this but can no longer find that tutorial.

Programmatic Production Access

To Programmatically Edit Productions (interfaces) you can use a combination of the interoperability apis and SQL queries.

Current Namespace

At a high level, it is important to know the namespace and production you are working in at the moment.

// Object script
// The active namespace is stored in this variable
$$$NAMESPACE
// Print namespace
Write $$$NAMESPACE
# Python
import iris
# The active namespace is returned from this method
iris.utils._OriginalNamespace()
# Print namespace
print(iris.utils.

Introduction

This article aims to explore how the FHIR-PEX system operates and was developed, leveraging the capabilities of InterSystems IRIS.

Streamlining the identification and processing of medical examinations in clinical diagnostic centers, our system aims to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of healthcare workflows. By integrating FHIR standards with InterSystems IRIS database Java-PEX, the system help healthcare professionals with validation and routing capabilities, ultimately contributing to improved decision-making and patient care.

I am sending an HL7 message from a BPL transform operation to a business operation that uses EnsLib.HL7.Operation.FileOperation.

The context is that our application queues up outbound data that the business service polls every minute.  The objects in the queue are sent to the business process to transform and then to the operation to send outbound.  My goal is to have the business operation inform the business process (by a response) that the message was sent and what the message identifier is.

I have tried to create Ensemble SOAP passthrough operation following this guide.

Here's my production configuration (after steps 1-4):

Class Passthrough.Production Extends Ens.Production

<Production Name="Passthrough.Production" LogGeneralTraceEvents="false">
  <Description></Description>
  <ActorPoolSize>2</ActorPoolSize>
  <Item Name="PassthroughOperation" Category="" ClassName="EnsLib.SOAP.GenericOperation" PoolSize="1" Enabled="true" Foreground="false" Comment="" LogTraceEvents="false" Schedule="">

Hello,

I got the idea for this application, because for my work we have a process that currently uses legacy Vista code called MailMan to transfer files using email. I thought I could create a process in HealthConnect (IRIS Interoperability) to replace the need for having the legacy code. I have seen File Passthrough and TCP Passthrough Operations that can transfer a stream (file content) into a file or through TCP connection. I did not find Email Passthrough Operation, so I decided to create it. It receives request with a stream that has the content of the file.

Hi Team, we are going to deliver a speech on a developer forum where most developers hv not used our tech before but using other database and integration technologies , Pls give us some key points on why they should adopt us and the benefits you can get, especially if you change your tech stack from others to IRIS. Thanks a lot!

What is XML?

XML (eXtensible Markup Language) is a flexible, text-based, and platform-independent format used to store and transport data in a well-structured way that is both human- and machine-readable. XML permits users to define custom tags to describe the meaning and organization of their data. For example: <book><title>The Hitchhiker's Guide</title></book>.

An XML document is self-descriptive and structured as a hierarchical tree of elements. Every document has a single root element that encapsulates all other content.

Hi Developers!

Here're the technology bonuses for the FHIR programming contest that will give you extra points in the voting:

  • FHIR Server REST API usage
  • The usage of SQL Schema of FHIR Resources
  • Healthcare standards data transformation
  • Docker container usage

See the details below.

According to IDC, more than 80% of information it is NoSQL, especially text into documents. When the digital services or applications not process all this information, the business lose. To face this challenge, it is possible use OCR technology. OCR uses machine learning and/or trained image patterns to transform image pixels into text. This is important, because many documents are scanned into images inside PDF, or many documents contains images with text inside. So OCR are an important step to get all possible data from a document.

Question Kurro Lopez · Jun 1, 2023

Hi all,

I'm wondering if is possible to call to a BO from a HL7 Route according to a parameter of the HL7 Message

I mean,

According to the identify of the laboratory, I want to call to other TCP process to retrieve information about blood tests.

We are creating the BO using this partern.

LAB.BO.TCP. + name of the laboratory.

The name of the laboratory is stoted in the lookup table T_LABORATORIOS

I've tried to assign the name into a variable and put it in the "send" instruction, but it doesn't work.

is it possible to call to a BO by a text variable instead of seleccting the BO from the production?

Hi Everyone,

 I tried to send the Sample XML from Packet Sender to Intersystems IRIS TCP Inbound adapter for learning purpose.
I'm using Predefine d Class : EnsLib.XML.TCPService and the adapter is EnsLib.TCP.CountedInboundAdapter (it selected by Default.)
My sample XML file would be <Patient><Name>John,Williams</Name><MRN>12345</MRN></Patient>
I got an error like

ERROR <Ens>ErrTCPReadBlockSize: TCP Read(32000) with timeout period (50) failed with : (78):tElement><Patient><Name>Varatha</Name><MRN>12345</MRN></Patient></RootElement>
Please help me to proceed further

We’re issuing a point release for InterSystems IRIS, IRIS for Health, and Health Connect 2025.1 — version 2025.1.0.225.1 — to address a critical interoperability issue affecting users who leverage System Default Setting enabled business hosts.

What’s the issue?
In certain configurations where a Business Host is marked as System Default Setting enabled, applying new settings via the UI may incorrectly indicate that changes were applied, even though the necessary restart did not occur.
