A few years ago, I was teaching the basics of our %UnitTest framework during Caché Foundations class (now called Developing Using InterSystems Objects and SQL). A student asked if it was possible to collect performance statistics while running unit tests. A few weeks later, I added some additional code to the %UnitTest examples to answer this question. I’m finally sharing it on the Community.
I just tried to log into our QA server and connect to Terminal (v 2013.1).
I can type in my username but when I attempt to type my password, no characters are typed. When I press ENTER the password is invalid.
I can connect to the management portal and the studio development environment without any problems. Also, I do not have this problem when connecting to the terminal in our production environment (2010).
Does anyone know what can cause this type of problem?
Currently in Visual Studio Code when we connect to a Cache server and export the CLS and MAC files, they get placed in the following:
\Comp;anyName\src\Packages
Where the Packages folder corresponds to the different class packages we have. The MAC files are placed in the src folder and not contained in it's own folder.
Is there a way to configure the export for the MAC files so that it's contained in it's own folder like this:
Migration from Caché to IRIS can be quite a challenge if your code is grown over many years
and probably not so clean structured as you may like it. So you face the need to check your
migrated code against some reference data. A few samples might not be a problem,
but some hundred GB of data for testing might be.
A possible step could be to have your fresh code in IRIS but leave your huge datastore on Caché and connect both environments over ECP. I have created a demo project that gives you the opportunity to try this based on 2 Docker images with IRIS and with Caché connected over ECP.
I am new to cache. In an interview i was asked how to optimize a sql query.
I just said I will create index on conditions which are present in where clause. But as per interviewer I should check How query plan is getting executed. This will help in optimizing Sql queries.
I want to know what will be the answer for how to optimize SQL query in cache.
Is there any information regarding using Cache ODBC DSN's to connect to SAP Crystal Server 2020? We have added all the necessary DSN on the server, and yet when running reports to access the required ODBC connections, we cannot seem to get the connections to establish.
Following my previous post, some urged me to get to the point – ok, so I found my "star" journaling globals, the ones that take up the most space – but how do I avoid this? How do I minimize the journal's size?
[DISCLAIMER: Some might still be disappointed after this post as well but wait till the next one... ]
I have created a class that extends %Persistent and %Populate and have set the various POPSPEC attributes of my properties to control how the properties are populated. However, when I compile the class and try to run the Populate() method it tells me the method isnt defined.
As we all know, Caché is a great database that accomplishes lots of tasks within itself. However, what do you do when you need to access an external database? One way is to use the Caché SQL Gateway via JDBC. In this article, my goal is to answer the following questions to help you familiarize yourself with the technology and debug some common problems.
Hello. When you export and then import a table of data, is the import smart enough to figure out if a row already exists in the new namespace, and if so update the row rather than just save/add the row?
For example, we have a table in DEV, and the same table in QA. The DEV table has more fields than QA. When we moved up the class, the field definitions went with the table into QA, so now the table definition is the same in both.
A feature I recently used in working on ISC internal applications is the ability to send emails on behalf of someone. This is useful when generating system notifications from an application when you want some of them to show up as being from a specific person, perhaps posting comments on a work ticket.
In my case I was updating our facilities work order system for tracking requests. Normally all notification emails are sent from the same noreply email address. I wanted to change that so comments added from the original requester would show up as being from them and stand out.
Hello everyone. I have some problem with selecting my own globals from namespace. My task is select only globals created by me. Follow my code, I get all globals from given namespace.
It is my understanding that when a routine accesses a global it is temporarily stored in global memory. While the global is within global memory, any other routine would be able to readily access the global from memory and not from disk so long as the same node is being utilized.
I am trying to install cache 2017.2 on vagrant/VirtualBox and Ubuntu. I have tried both Linux precise64 3.2.0-23-generic #36-Ubuntu and Linux vagrant-ubuntu-trusty-64 3.13.0-137-generic #186-Ubuntu. I am getting an error that i can’t figure out. I have done this:
I setup a linked server to a cache database to query the data and when I try an query the data I get
OLE DB provider 'MSDASQL' for linked server 'xxx' returned data that does not match expected data length for column '[MSDASQL].CSFAELIGVENCITY'. The (maximum) expected data length is 20, while the returned data length is 23.
Should I be using a different driver when setting up the DSN?
